This saved my bacon when I switched over to a set of scales from Allen Putman. Thanks!

So far In all the vids I’ve watched yours is the first one to get the torx sizes right. Others have said 9 and 5 sized torx so much it had me doubting and double checking. Anyways I have a set of these arriving tomorrow I really hope they make me fall in love with the knife. New scales for the hogue Deka magnacut made me fall in love with that knife. Thanks for the video 👊

Mike Likes Knives thanks mike! And it’s yours anytime. We should meet up this week and I’ll give you the grip for the spydiechef and see how we like the swap for a week. Any other knives you wanna check out you’re more than welcome to!

AWT makes some nice stuff and I like the color you picked.

Outpost 76 I’m glad the color was true to how it looked online. Sometimes it’s not a true representation of the way it looks online. But their pictures are dead accurate on their website. So far I’m pretty impressed by them. I’m curious to see how they patina and age over time.

Hi, Mike,, I recently watched Kenny's video on the Freek, I think an acid etched blade, would look cool on this one too, !
(and maybe strip and acid etch the clip to match)
    Atb buddy,,,

John Waddington I bet that would be cool! 😎👍🏻

Hey Mike congratulations on the 3 hundo :) So admittedly I’m just now getting into folders. I plan to get a pm2 in k390 or a pm3 in maxamet.. maybe both hehe. Anyways I’m not well versed on greases and oils. What would you recommend for a newcomer like myself? Money isn’t a problem and I’m all about that good action. I have all the necessary accoutrement for polishing the washers and all that but for now I only own tuf glide for a protectant. Thanks!

Seth Wright I would recommend KPL (knife pivot lube) regular and/or nano oil 10 weight. They’re both great!

Those look good Mike...you made it look way too easy...lol. But a big improvement in the looks of the knife.

Mick Keim thank you! Editing made it look a little easier. It took about 30-35 mins. total. Not too bad though. I think it looks much better and I’m glad you think so too!

It’s my recollection that the AWT screws that hold their backspacer in place are actually a T7
I think they even warn you about it in the instructions. I’ve sold all the ones I’ve had so I cannot verify that - and perhaps they’ve changed them.

    • @ogenmatic

Actually from their website it’s the pocket clip screws that they provide:
NOTE: Benchmade factory pocket clip screws are a T6 head, our shorter replacement screws are a T7 head. Attempting to tighten our pocket clip screws with a T6 driver will strip out the screw heads.

ogenmatic thanks for the input but I didn’t use their pocket clip. I reused the benchmade pocket clip. I only used t6 and t10 drivers for the whole disassembly and reassembly. Thanks for looking out though. 🙂

Going from a contoured to a blocky handle.. how could that ever make the knife better? It brings up the price/value of the knife but gives it worse ergos. So in my books that makes it worse..

    • @Iheartknives1
      @Iheartknives1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Camora Kidd do you have the scales? Until you felt them in hand you wouldn’t know how they feel. Just because it looks blocky in a video doesn’t mean they feel blocky in your hand. It’s my opinion and you have yours but you’re judging it based on how it looks in a video and not how it feels in your hand.
Side note: The contoured plastic handles have hard knurling on the sides that feel terrible when you squeeze them, but they’re contoured so that makes it good?

@@Iheartknives1 I had several griptilians and also the AWT scales.. they feel blocky. Not bad like a spyderco PM2 but definetly blocky which almost always means that there are hotspots when you are cutting something like wood. Yea I hate the knurling on the Grip but it still feels better in a hammer grip when cutting hard imo. Not trying to tell you you are wrong or anything. If it feels better for you then that's how it is. For me it is just a downgrade in ergonomics and an upgrade in price and that's why I sold those scales again. But I also sold every griptilian lol.

Camora Kidd understood. I politely disagree maybe it’s my hand size and how I’ve used the knife so far. And you’re right about pm2 ergos. Nero made everyone aware of it and he was right that’s why I got rid of my pm2 and got a military. I’ll let you know if I run into any hotspot issues in the near future though or if it stays comfortable in hard use situations. . 👍🏻👊🏻
