Next time you stroke a cat gently stroke the side of its mouth with the outside of your hand and then smell it, it’s an awful smell. Then see how long it takes to get rid of that smell.
Cat owners get used to the smell, but anyone else entering the house can smell it. I had to deep clean the entire house after my cat passed away and everyone that came in afterwards noticed.

I noticed that! I had a rescue cat once who I got as a kitten and she did the same thing even as an adult when sitting on my lap! It's interesting such a large and naturally wild cat would pick up the same sort of habit.
My pitpull is 9 and still sucks on my girlfriends thumb its some weird thing that started when she was a puppy now she still does it. seems dogs do it as well.
According to ther exotic animal owners I talk to, cougars and bears love sucking on fingers.
I have read somewhere that animals sometimes suck on fingers if they were weaned too early.

DreadLife: 101 it's funny you mention that, when I had my cougars in Colorado, I raised them from kits up, and they lived in the house with me. I had a large stuffed animal life-sized, that stayed on the back of the couch for the baby cougars to curl up with, and it was there for years. When they became adults, the thing it become so torn I had to throw it away. Aztec, my oldest cougar, started sleeping on the back of the couch where the stuffed animal used to lay. One of my friends that used to come to my house all the time, was used to seeing the stuffed animal in the back of the couch, so when he made a surprise visit to my house in the middle of the day, and I wasn't home, he walk through the house and saw a cougar on the back of the couch which was normal to him. The biggest difference was the one that was on there at that time was real! When it stood up and stretched my friend passed out! I came home at 10 at night to find him laying on the floor in my cougar laying on top of him trying to get him to wake up! It was the most hilarious thing I've ever seen in my life still to this day!

I've been gone all day, had no idea that anybody was even at my house, pull up to my house and see his car parked out front, but all my lights were off inside. I had no clue what was going on. I thought he showed up and knocked on the door and had left. I didn't even walk inside my door for about 20 minutes after I got home. I was outside smoking a cigarette, and finishing off my pop while I talk on my phone. Open my door turn on my light and there's my best friend, and my cougar laying on top of him! He had left when the Cougars were still little, so he didn't realize that they've grown so quickly! By the time they were 10 months they were adult! So when he returned Aztec had already grew to the size of the stuffed animal that laid on the back of the couch. And that was Aztecs favorite place to lay. So when he went to walk through the room and Aztecs stood up and stretched I guess it was just too much for him to come for him then he just passed out. He told me that when he woke up it was laying on top of him he was afraid to open his eyes removed because he thought that the cougar with eating. So he figured since he hadn't already been eating if he just laid still and pretended to be asleep that the cougar would go away or what needing. He didn't know how long I'll be gone. He told me for a minute he was beginning to believe I had left on vacation back to the set of the United States, and wouldn't be back for a while so he didn't know what he was going to do!

I noticed the bandage on your hand. I'm used to it from hawks and owls. Accidents will happen. (-; I just had to train myself when and where not to hold an ungloved hand. Above the chest level of a trained bird is safe. Generally injuries from raptors come from their talons, not their beaks. I had an injured red tail hawk who would be so excited to see me, she would try to hop onto my hand, crawl up onto my shoulder and groom my hair and caress my ears with here beak. Any injuries would be my own fault. The excited bird was just gripping my hand and arm to get a proper perch. I just had to remember she had over 100 pounds per square inch of force in her talons. She never bit me. I still have my ears and hair.
