Im in my last semester of Hygiene school. Girl save your books, every one of them. We are studying for boards now and you'll need to refer back to them!
I’m in my finals for Dental Hygiene, you get what you put into it! Just aim to be the best you can as the stress comes regardless! I’ll be finished in two weeks and already have a full time job! It’s the hardest time and it tests you so much but I could not recommend more!
I hope you can reply me , I’m a senior in high school and I really wants to be a dentist of 4 years, but I don’t know how to start ... I mean like after high school can I go to a dental school or I need to go to college first? Can you explain me that please!!! That would be helpful to me 🤢
Leslie Menjivar to get into a dental program it is required that you have a four year undergraduate degree in what ever you want to major in it really doesn’t matter, however you could get a two year undergraduate degree and try to apply but if you do that I would take a more dental focused associates degree like dental hygiene or dental assistant
Go talk to your school counselor, take dual credit classes IN HIGH SCHOOL! It’s not a joke, it’s not lame to be smart and get that ish done before you go to college because college core classes are HARD especially at a university
Yes, exactly what @Leahh said, I would definitely recommend talking to your school counselor and if you have a college of interest, I would contact them and speak with an advisor as well. They should be able to get you on the right track. If dentistry is what you want to pursue, go for it! Stay focused and keep your grades/gpa up, you got this! Wish you the best of luck(:
It's less expensive in NYC if you go to a Cuny school, you can try City Tech in Brooklyn, or Hostos CC in Bronx, or a Suny school these are public city and state schools.
Thanks so much for the upload! Theres sooo many videos on nursing but very few on hygiene and im trying to find out as much of it as i can. I just took the teas test and will be turning my application in tomorrow for the program. Crossing my fingers I get in! was it hard for you to get in the program? did you have a really high gpa or high teas test score?
kale ale the program is very competitive so yes it is hard to get in. Our school determines acceptance primarily on grades. Though, we are not required to take the teas test (or any test) for our program, it is required to have a min prerequisite gpa of 2.2 & a 2.5 cumulative gpa. I plan on making another video in the next week or so & I’ll be talking more about applying/requirements & our grading system. I wish you all the luck getting into the program! 🍀 🤞🏽😊 & thanks for watching!
Ok so I'm looking to move forward with dental hygienist pre requisites But I am concerned about my age of when I would graduate - 44 .. As it's hard on the body.. I'm factoring in making a 15 plus year commitment.. I don't know If I'm making the wisest decision or should I do respiratory therapist instead?
Is it hard to find full time jobs with benefits (retirement plans, medical plans). Is dental hygiene a reliable career for future financial stabilitly.
Thanks for this video! 😊 omg I love your name it's very unique! My name is Sylvia . Didn't like it at first but ended up falling in love with it since not many people are named Sylvia.
Thank you for making a good video about dental hygiene for us. it really helped. :) I am married to American few months ago and we are planning to move to the states soon. I am korean and not super fluent english yet but I want to know if international students can catch up the courses. I would appreciate if you could share your ideas.
Thank you, glad I can help! I'm not quite sure of what you mean by catch up the courses?? As far as the language barrier, it may be difficult because it's important to be able to talk to your patients effectively, but I'd say not to let it discourage you. There are a couple of students in my class who aren't as fluent in English either and they're doing just fine. I'm sure you will too!(:
Did you buy your hand instruments yourself or it’s part of the fees you paid? Another thing, do you have to bring your own patient or the school provides for you. Thanks
Hey i noticed your uniform looks familiar I go to TCC and im interested in the dental hygiene program i was wondering how difficult would you say it is to get in if you dont mind
Mario Tinoco thank you! & no the 17k is just the amount you will pay throughout the entire program. It includes what you must buy on your own like uniforms, gloves/masks as well as books, tuition/fees & board exams. It also includes an estimate cost for vaccinations/immunizations we had to get. As far as tuition, I’m sure there are payment plans or you can apply for financial aid/scholarships
thank you so much for taking the time to reply!! How long was the entire program for? it would be awesome to get a video explaining how you got the job after the school part was complete:) im on my first year of college doing the basics so i still know nothing about the program.
Natasha Jackson normally it’s in community College. You do prerequisites in community college like basics English, anatomy, chemistry, biology etc. some schools have waiting list and some don’t. Good luck
You're welcome and thanks for watching! I live in Florida. I'm actually not surprised that it's higher in Cali since DH salaries are also higher there, which can be rewarding(:
Rita Melki I’m not 100% sure but in most cases you’d have to meet the programs prerequisite requirements in order to be admitted into a program, which are typically college credit courses. Not sure how your high school is though so you might want to ask your guidance counselor.

I’m in my finals for Dental Hygiene, you get what you put into it! Just aim to be the best you can as the stress comes regardless! I’ll be finished in two weeks and already have a full time job! It’s the hardest time and it tests you so much but I could not recommend more!

are you still in the program ? we need a update .. i know the program is full time , do you have a job while in school?
17k that’s nothing! Haha mine is about 32k!
$42K for my first choice. :-( #BrokeCollegeStudent
$60k for my only choice! The only school that offers the program where I live unless I drive 2 hours to another school
Umm...yall need to go to a community college because that's ridiculous.
@@blackwomanorangecat you should see the people who get into $1 million for their masters degrees...
Bovine Lubbux exactly lmao
Are you still in the program ???can we get a update
I live in Fla and tuition for dental hygiene down here is 37k, and thats not including books or labs. Smh😐... I need to relocate.
Starting my 1st semester of hygiene school this month thank you for sharing this ✨
Wendy Lopez how is it ?
Hi where are you currently going to school?
How is it?
Where do you live? It's cheaper in your area. In NYC DENTAL HYGIENE A.S. DEGREE PROGRAM IS $60,000 IN A PRIVATE SCHOOL
Betty Nunez $60,000?? 😳 wow is it really😯.. & I’m in Florida.
Jai Sylyna what school did you go to in florida? The schools surrounding me are charging 37k.
What the hell....
Private schools tend to be expensive in general. Try to look for public schools that offer dental hygiene.
It's less expensive in NYC if you go to a Cuny school, you can try City Tech in Brooklyn, or Hostos CC in Bronx, or a Suny school these are public city and state schools.
Currently in DH school! Not that anyone cares but it’s cool to see that one of my instructors is the actual author of the instrumentation book 😊

Samuel Batista I’ve been curious about the same thing
If you have the proper pre reqs and go to dental school yeah
Is it $17,000. for each semester or is that the total cost of the school.

could you please tell me fee structure of dental hygiene???and criteria requires for dental hygiene
Loved the video! What type of camera & lighting did you use?
Thank you! I use the Cannon T3i. As for lighting I typically use a ring light &/or natural sun light.
hello! awesome informative video. i have one question though, the 17k has to be paid before you actually start or is there a payment plan available?
Mario Tinoco thank you! & no the 17k is just the amount you will pay throughout the entire program. Sure I'd be happy to. Is there anything specific you need help with?
First off how do you personally feel about someone taking the classes online?
What school are you going to?
I was just wondering if you take all applied courses in high school to be a dental hygienist can you go to college and become a dental hygienist
Rita Melki I’m not 100% sure but in most cases you’d have to meet the programs prerequisite requirements in order to be admitted into a program, which are typically college credit courses. Not sure how your high school is though so you might want to ask your guidance counselor.
