The Pitfalls of an Allopathic Approach to Ayurveda

  • Most people know how to use Ayurveda in the correct way, however occasionally I encounter patients who try to apply the allopathic or modern medical approach to our more holistic approaches to treating disease.
The video discusses how many of us focus too much on the name of the disease instead of the more important imbalances that have accumulated over time which cause the disease in the first place.
Many people want to know what herb we use for specific health problems. Ayurveda does not work in that way! We first see what the patient is doing wrong, tell them to stop doing those things, then fix the imbalances which have occurred during their entire lifetime so they can reverse their disease process. The last thing we do is to use the herb for that particular symptom. If you jump right to the herb without figuring out what is wrong in the first place you won’t get very far in the healing process.
And many times doctors won’t treat a particular set of symptoms if there is no diagnosis they can make. This is another huge mistake. Ayurveda understands that you have to go through 6 stages of a disease process before you come down with a disease that can be named. If you are developing symptoms you should jump in immediately and work on fixing the imbalances so that you can prevent the disease from forming. Don’t take the watch and wait approach and do nothing otherwise you run the risk of eventually developing a disease.
Learn how to think outside the box and take a deeper perspective on your health. It is best to deepen your understanding of how your body works and how to heal it, otherwise you might find yourself, like many people, chasing symptoms around your body your whole life as your health gradually deteriorates through the years. But by following the Ayurvedic methods of preventing disease instead of reacting to it once it has formed, will help you experience radiant health throughout your life, free of disease.

Such a great perspective: why we do not want to use Ayurveda with the western, allopathic medicine approach.
