Cortisol and High Vata - How Modern and Ancient Doctors Understand Stress

  • Cortisol is released by the adrenal glands when we are under stress. It’s one thing to have an occasional flood of cortisol into our system, but on a chronic continual basis, it is responsible for creating many of our health problems.
The ancient doctors of India also talked about this phenomenon using their own unique terminology, which they described as being “High Vata.”
Or we could even call it the “Fight or Flight Response.”
They considered Vata, the element inside our bodies which controls various bodily movements, and represents quickness, among other things, the “leading” dosha, which meant that if you disturb Vata, eventually Pitta (the element of fire) and Kapha (earth and water) would eventually go out of balance as well.
So what this means for us is that it is important to learn how to harness Vata and keep it from rising too much. Since it is behind the scenes as the causative factor in many health problems, if we don’t learn what Vata is and then how to keep it balanced, we will only have a partial response to the treatments we seek for our health conditions.
Many people are looking for the cure outside their bodies, such as in herbal treatments, dietary and lifestyle changes, yoga, meditation, etc., but they forget that they too need to be part of their treatment team and learn how to keep Vata at bay for optimum healing.

This is surely one of the most informative and valuable videos on Vata and correlation to Cortisol. Assuming here that adrenaline also plays a role.

Dr. Marianne is absolutely wonderful. In merely 10 minute video she has addressed root cause of 1) Restless ness (nervous system exciation) 2) High Blood pressure 3) Sleep less ness 4) Overeating 5) Osteoorosis 6) Adrernal fatigue etc.
Relating cortisol to Vata is something radical interpretation of vata.
I was attracted to TCM (chinese medicine) over ayurveda though I have been born & very6 well aware of ayurveda since childhood.
But after watching this video I have realised that correct interpretations of ancient texts is what matters.
Thank you so much for wisdom for words.👌👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
