Glad you had a safe ride. I did the Formentor ride last year with two Mansfield team mates and there were a lot of buses on the roads. One of us was knocked into a ditch. You might notice that my picture is of me riding away from the lighthouse 🥰
Hi Amy, I too struggle to sleep past my usual wake up time, I wake up early each day 4-40, we’ve 3 bearded collies that I walk each morning before I cycle to work, and they are a better alarm than any alarm clock or phone alarm! Even with no alarms I too still wake up at the same time (even on holiday) the body just gets used to waking at that time 🙄 fantastic views on your lighthouse ride, I know from Strava you did the full 312, well done 👍 looking forward to that video 😎
That looks great Amy, glad you're enjoying it. Good luck with the 312 . Can't say I'm a lover of crowds, but have a game plan and ride within it. Slap that Factor 50 on and away you go...😎🌞👍
Cap Formentor is IMHO one of the most beautiful road bike tours on Mallorca, I rode it twice last year. But it's also very crowded. The café at the lighthouse is really outrageously expensive. Tips: In the summer months, the road is closed to cars. But be careful, buses are still allowed to drive to the lighthouse, they are even more dangerous than cars. Start early to avoid most of the traffic.
Nice Weather ! You have dodged some rain back in the Uk so that's a plus. Yes ride it steady and keep on the alert. Will be riders from all diff countries riding prob who might pull off some strange unexpected moves now and again. :).
Hello Amy, The ride to the lighthouse looked good... I can't believe the price of the magnum. I hope the event went well and look forward to seeing your video on it. Take care. Paul,,
You did a great job of filming there. It was the best of these types of ride I have seen so far on TH-cam. Hear you about descending - being older, the implications of coming off at high speed are so bad I take it steady.
When I started watching this and you said you’re going to Cap de Formentor cafe, I started laughing as I was waiting for your reaction at the prices.😂 The queues of cars waiting for a car parking spot is an eye opener too.😱
When descending it helps to use your brakes in the straight, start on the outside of the corner & lean in to the apex. But safety first, you'll get there. Confidence grows w/ experience.
@@rivergladesgardenrailroad8834 indeed and agreed, but for a beginner, finding let alone hitting the "apex" is already a pretty abstract concept. The tendency being that they'd just follow the curvature of the road (eek).
I'm not jealous of that weather, I said I'm not jealous of that weather😆Those descents looked a lot of fun😁Good luck with the 312, do what you are comfortable with👍
Beautiful ride! I had the same nerves this weekend as I traveled to a charity ride 3 hrs away solo, thankfully a fellow cyclist ask to ride with me. Im with you, see how you feel and do whatever miles that suites you, it is about having fun, enjoy!! Heheey!☝️😉
best tip for descending for me (especially hairpins) was look ie turn your head/body, where you want to exit the corner puts weight in the correct place.
Seeing “interesting” cornering discipline. Either single radius turns or early apex, both of which will load the tires unnecessarily. Any grit or moisture will be disastrous. Plus, these errors increase the change of having to widen the line which will put a rider into a guard rail or a collision situation with oncoming traffic. There a lots of videos on racing lines… mostly for motor sports. Cyclists would do well to watch these as the physics is all the same. Haven’t touched on speed, just “line”. Stirling Moss quote applies ~ “I’d rather be slow into a corner and fast out of it than fast into a corner and dead out of it”. On steep downhill sections, scrubbing too much speed in the entry point of a corner can be corrected after the apex.
Night Amy interesting this ride as I have ridden it a few times virtually with a real video on Rouvy App so I get real resistance but it was the view at the top which I wanted to see as the video stops just as I get to the car park at the lighthouse. Cap Formentor If that is how it is spelt . Always love your videos😍 have great ride
About 10 years ago you were able to do a week in Mallorca for about 350 Euro for flights and hotel (all in) in the beginning of the season (April). Bike rental was about 100 euro for a week. Haven't flown with a bike in a while so don't know what airlines are asking now but it used to be about 90 Euro on European flights return
Looks a really nice place, nice ride too, wish I could afford to go to some of them places 🤣 little tip for you with your GoPro, not sure what models you have the one you’re holding looks like hyper smooth or real steady needs enabling its stop camera shake the one on the front of the bike looked like it was enabled 😊
Another instant classic, Amy. 🙃 Two thoughts: you're the first person to abscond with a bag of oats in their shorts; and ... _NINE_ ?? Did he say *_€9_* for that Magnum? Stop it, Mallorca.
Flipping heck. That fella @11:41, overtaking a car on the decent, with oncoming traffic in the opposite lane, looks as if he leads a very risky lifestyle 😮
Obviously i was not there but..... my impression is that the camera really foreshortens things and i suspect it was better than it looks. TBH in my experience on the longer euro descents (that are also generally less steep) if your gonna let the bike run (ie: not brake all the time) you will have to overtake cars as its amazing how much quicker than them you are on a hairpin descent. You want bonkers descending go watch the stuff on Safa Brian's page - particuarly the stuff in Switzerland. Then the Tom Pidcock one is just amazing (one way road so no risk of cars coming up).
@@Greg.Sutton You could be right about the camera distortion but I almost had a heart attack when I saw him pull out to overtake, halfway expecting to see him to get flung into the air by the oncoming car.
Amy Malones...our baby...u should have gone to Italia...the home of cycling where your Pinarello is made,Mallorca is too vulgar, it's for the pleb !!! just keep on with your fantastic work.

Thanks for sharing another awesome riding experience Amy! What an amazing place to go for a ride.
Such a Great Video Amy, looks gorgeous there, so inspiring! Thank You! 🙂 👍

Thank you! ☺️ enjoy your rides!

It’s much cheaper to do it on a trainer. Get to the lighthouse and grab a drink from the fridge. 😂
So expensive haha!! Can tell we weren't in Derbyshire anymore!
Gorgeous ride. ❤❤

It's not always sunny in Mallorca, last week Monday and Tuesday morning was a write off, too much rain, at least for us.

I've never realised what an cycling destination mallorca is. Time to visit aunti viv this summer!
it's a cycling mecca for already many many years
😊😊😊
Fanta Lemon was the first thing we would get from the supermarket when we went to Lanzarote.
That’s a great spin
Amazing scenery!!! Lovely film!!! Did that guy descend and squeeze between 2 cars?
That scared me, when that guy overtook a car on the wrong side of the road, on the _outside_ of a turn. Yikes!
Big pockets , big bunch bananas !

Amy, you overtook someone going downhill!
My thoughts, exactly. Our Amy can be a speed demon, too (when she's not thinking about it).
I noticed that too . Preceded by the war cry "Yip yip yip yip " !
