I started watching your channel from Jacks channel. I’m and older disabled lady (56) was not really into fixing remodeling old vehicles but after watching so many of your videos I have become interested in watching you and Jack bring things back to life! It’s very interesting to me! Thank you for amazing videos.
Just bought a 71 at auction last weekend. Got it fired up in about 15 minutes. Not idling or anything but at least it made noise. The solenoid pooped after that. Spent the next day cleaning and power washing the inside and outside. It sat in a tree row for 30 years and is full of mice. I need to pull the dash out to finish the cab. Got the carb pulled last night for rebuild and have a box of parts coming from rock auto.
Would be great if the missing parts are in the truck bed. Also saw a couple of Ford trucks there in the yard..maybe some parts there too. Good to see you Kent..take care
Nice 68 F100! I like the green color! 1st year for 360 2V, 215 hp FE V8! Nice solid truck for 54 years old! Should be able to find à good used grill and headlight assemblies for it! I see another bumpside truck in background, maybe it has useable grille and headlight assemblies? I like the heavy duty rear bumper, clean off rust, prime it, and paint argent silver? Paint might even shine up except hood! Like you said nice
Boy that truck and I have something in common, we are exactly the same age 😂😂 June babies. The only ford I’ve ever owned was a 1976 F150 dent side. Started with a 360 went to a 390 bored 60 over, RV cam, 360 heads and a 2 barrel intake. Built that engine just like all the chevys I owned. That truck would fly for a 4x4. Can’t wait to see you get it running and driving.
Kent you sure did luck out ! -- Don't expect that accelerator pump to work, though -- Holly pumpers didn't work when new -- Good Luck, Again ! -- HE'S Watching Over Y'all -- HI JACK !
Like others here, I was hoping the pickup behind it had a good grille, but that wudda been way too easy! Fun video, thank God for the "Lone Wolf 5000!" lol
@@SpeedBumpGarage I guess old school guys who had the 360 many years ago would be able to give you pointers as far as what the REAL deal with those 360s are. I hope to see more videos in that thing. I like the oatina
Old man here..... The 360 FE was a workhorse engine... Never was meant for speed or racing.... Even tho if built right could be a ok race engine... The 360 was a powerplant for torque.... In granny gear and foot off the throttle with a properly set carb you can literally getout of the truck and walk beside it while it drives itself... Ranchers used to hook flatbed trailers to them during hay season and you can getout throw bales onto the trailer and walk an entire line of bales then jumpin kick it in neutral stack the bales well flip around & do the next line... I have seen these trucks climb insane inclined hills in granny gear & literally rip down barns and big sheds with their torque
Kent, you sure are an optimists. That engine looked pretty rough. You made a lot of progress on getting it started and I hope you can continue working on the engine. Do you think you will be able to find a grille and headline unit for the truck? I wish you the best.
I've always believed it best to pull the plugs, put lube in cylinders, pull top off carb clean bowl, clean and reinstall plugs, rotate engine, clean points cap and rotor, and use gas mix . Last but not least add coolant and have a way to check oil pressure .
All good ideas for sure! I planned on bringing 2 stroke oil but completely forgot. It turned over really easily so I was pretty comfortable going for it without.
Good prediction my man. It's a good channel. Looking forward to see what's happening next. I'm just getting into it now watching all the old videos. The two little kids have a great life messing about on a farm all day. They seem to be a really nice family.
Straight behind you in the junkyard is a grey primer bumpside Ford probably a ranger and right beside the brown mangled dent side Ford truck you showed on the right side of it is a blue Ford truck and it appears to be a bumpside as well..
That could be a 352 or a 360. Same block, different bore. I drove a 66 F-100 for a few years and it had the 352, and three on the tree. That 352 big block has so darned much torque that, even climbing switchbacks up into the mountains, I could just leave it in 3rd, and it would accelerate right up the grade.
Well you are in a junk yard I would look for the front grill and a starter and what elts your missing. Its good that the air corner was on to keep water out of the engine an rats an mic
If the starter was the reason they parked it you’d be very lucky. Was the grill on the blue truck behind it? Looks like it would be the same year era possibly.
It was a 70-72 grill. I could make it work but it was not in good shape. The owner of the junk yard has one at his other yard I am going to look at this weekend
@@SpeedBumpGarage thanks for responding perhaps a Hood or fenders or the inside fender and radiator supports! Are you close to the place you got your truck? Glad to see it got a home and not crunched! Regards
Use a points file instead of that Emery board, grit from the emery board will get lodged between the point contacts and keep them slightly propped open.
@@SpeedBumpGarage It is most definitely an FE series. Tell Tell signs are the water pump that is independent from the timing cover, and the flanged exhaust ports on the head. Could be a 352/360/390 as they all look identical. looks un molested though so probably the original 360.

The definitely did make one, it is part of the FE engine family. Here is some information on it: The Ford 360 engine is a V8 engine created between 1968 and 1971 with two barrels had 215 horsepower at 4,400 rpm and a max torque of 327 at 2,400 rpm. The later model, which ran from 1972 until 1975, had 196 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 327 max torque.

Hows the 71 1 year latter lol
Had a 71’. Like it. 360: two barrel carb. Was a great truck. Totaled when an old woman turned in front of me. Dam it! Really liked that thing.
That’s too bad! Thanks for watching

There you go teasing me with an old Ford pickup lol. Can't wait to see how it developes. GOOD LUCK Kent. Look forward to more videos of this.

Loved that truck
It's a pretty great truck to have just been setting in a junk yard!
It was sad to see the headlights and grill was gone. Great work on the engine. I can't wait to see it restored.😊👍

They are great trucks!
This has quickly became my favorite channel on TH-cam!

I love it. I was also wondering how good a 360 Ford. I love early to mid 70s Ford trucks with the round headlights
I also love the round headlights! I have heard mixed reviews on the FE style 360

I had a 1970 f100 with a 360 and 3speed manual on the column only had 583000 miles on it when it was stolen.
You have the earlier cab with the anti flutter brackets for the hood . These were discontinued about mid year. 😮😊

Tow it.....yank that POS FE and pop something into it that will actually motor the bump side far more reliably than that 360 could ever do.
That is a possibility in the future!
Well you are in a junk yard I would look for the front grill and a starter and what elts your missing. Its good that the air corner was on to keep water out of the engine an rats an mic
Everything else in that yard was trashed but I did locate one near by that I will hopefully be getting this weekend!
Let the engine run for a while get it hot most sounds or hung valves will fix themselves with heat the main thing is getting it running
Good idea! Thanks
Fill the float bowl with fuel though the vent that way it will run longer then 2 seconds

Hey Guy's
Hey Greg
What salvage yard sells the vehicles, can't but one in Illinois once sent to a junk yard they only become parts only
This one is a private yard. He apparently sold the grill before I purchased the truck
Make a cheat sheet to go with you when you do this of things you need to bring with you.
Looks Ike there was another green early ford truck there also! True? Any idea of where there is a bed and a hood for a bumpside?
He did have several parts trucks out there but I’m not sure about any good beds

What year was the mercury comet just curious cause I used to have a 1976 mercury comet only one spot of rust on the outside of the car on the fender
Id really like to have the yellow ranger bumpside Ford truck you have acquired for a project idea i have

I could use that bed off that truck for my '72 F250
How much did you pay for the truck ?
I can't remember, it was a package deal.
boil the hell of it
All else fails..whack it..haha

I believe it is an FE style engine which would make it be the original 360. I will try and run the numbers on it soon.
