We pull down a Henney horse drawn buggy, that was put away when the farm transitioned to automobiles. Circa 1930’s. It was hung in the old garage and never touched since.
Thanks Mark. Not too much stuff that old survives, grandpa gave it to my aunt years ago (she has horses) and this is the first time any of us (anyone alive) has laid eyes on it. Pretty neat.
I think the object at the end is possibly a gout foot stool. Just a guess. Awesome video. Loved seeing a PERSON pulling it. Get an idea of how it manuvered. Horses were a lot of work, but just an unmotorized vehicle... also, a LOT of work. We take so much for granted, don't we?
Never heard of a gout foot stool, It’s a pretty delicate piece but looks very similar. And yes ! People have a pretty short memory when it comes to how things use to be, wasn’t even 100 years ago people had to be self sufficient. Electricity and running water were a luxury. Thanks Audrey.
Thanks! Yep, I watched a rural heritage video on antique hay equipment shortly after I made the video. The slings were most likely used to pull loose hay up into the hay mow.
Horse drawn carriages and equipment used to be shown at our vintage shows, but have dissapeared over the years. Nice to see one kept in the family and out at the shows.
Will be the first time, this county fair is more rural and is celebrating its 150th (last year anniversary) so they want to show early stuff and where it has gone. I’m fixing up an engine cart right now for my Fairbanks!
Easy to forget how easy it is today. I grabbed the old cross cut saw and gave it a whirl with my brother in law, I’ll never complain about a dull chain saw again!
Thanks. The Oliver club will have a display on the west side of the grounds. I’ll be out there Wednesday, Thursday for sure. Thursday night is the club tractor pull, could bring one down ?😁 ……
A fun time unearthing history
You have a chunk of gold with that 3 wheeler in the background.
1985 Honda Big Red 250, W/reverse. It’s had a hard life, it laid down quite a few years back. Have noticed they have become collectible.
@@crazydave4455 got one myself I need to redo.
Pretty cool video. Interesting too see what was around back in the day. Had to be special for you since it's family👍

That is so cool. Not very often that a carriage like this is still around 80 some years later. Are you going too restore the the seat
It’s my aunts, I believe the plan is to do the top and the seat. Clean the rest up and see how it looks ! Only original once.
That wrench is for the wheel nuts. Needs wheel gease and washers

Great video. I find this old stuff interesting. I think the old rope things are slings for loose hay. spread them out on the hay rack?
