I never thought I’d end up crying in an organization video. I bake for a living and I bake for my grandma. She gave me my love of baking. I just wish she could see me now!

As I prepared to build my dream kitchen and was looking for ideas on how-to replicate the Hoosier from my husband's family farm kitchen, I found this YT Video in Cyberspace.
Thank you for organizing all my thoughts, ideas and desires into a functional baking center. The only change I will be making is lowering the counter top. In my old age when rolling out Pie Crust and Kneading Bread Dough, I need the downward push of my whole body. Thank you, again 💖

The hospital that I used to work for used to give gift cards every year during the holidays. It took several years but I took those gift cards and upped my game in the kitchen. I slowly replaced my most used items with the top grade equipment. One of the best purchases was a professional grade set of measuring cups and spoons. I was so excited to finally have them. I love them so much that when my daughter moved out after college I bought her the same set.

P.S.: I had my first mixer lift shelf in the late 1950's and have been Stunned that it is not a basic in Every Kitchen . Yours is only the 3rd or 4th I've seen in the last 40 years. They are a God send. Mine have a slide out under the mixer for your canisters for centralized storage and clearer counters. ❤Thanks.
As a new wife (3 years), growing up in Missouri where I grew up on your type of cooking and housewife style your videos are the highlight of my week! I have learned SO much and I appreciate all the hard work you put into them! I have every recipe written down and notes on all of your stations and organization tips!
Awe Joellen your comments really touched my heart strings. We have all boys and if I could have a girl I would want a girl like you! hahahah I am not sure if you have started a family yet but I am posting a video you might like in a few minutes about Easy Halloween Treats that I used to make for our kids when they were little. I mention this so you can add to your recipe binder, they are super cute and time savers. You are so far ahead of me at your age, when Ken and I got married I didn't know how to cook. I couldn't even boil water. I did just what you are doing and started creating a recipe binder, and trying new recipes. The ones that were 10's stayed. Over time I have 3 big binders full of "keeper" recipes. Your hubby is one lucky guy!! So happy to have you part of our group. Shelby
I LOVE to bake, my Mom taught me many years ago her dream was to own her own bakery. She passed away 2 years ago at the young age of 69. I think of her every time. I love this idea, we don't have the room for this where we currently are but one day would be really nice. I use my bakers rack for now. I also love the sayings and how you tied together the memories we treasure and the music is very pretty.
Danielle what a beautiful way to honor your mom, to have her with you when you bake. You brought tears to my eyes.....every time I make something my boys like, and they ask what is in it. Thank you so much - My oldest son baked with my mom from when he was about 3 years old. He used to say "dukin with Manna " because he couldn't say cooking and couldn't say Grandma so Manna stuck with all the grandkids. When I learned to bake he actually taught me a few things he is now 21 and loves it too. Memories are priceless thank you for your kind words. I agree she is with me every time xxooxo

I feel the same way about family recipes and kitchen things our moms and grandma's touched every day while cooking for their families. My maternal grandma was a wonderful baker and when I make one of her recipes, I can still feel the love ! Beautiful baking center and fantastic organization like always. 💗

They are great if you do a lot of baking, I do keep the brown sugar in a gallon zip lock baggie to keep from drying out. I mention this because I know you are getting your baking supplies together.
I want my kitchen to be set up just like yours.

You have such a rich abundance of loving memories it seem. As well as items that hold alot of those memories from love one long gone. Continue to enjoy what you do that brings happiness into your home as well as your life. Baking also bring back fond memories of my grandmother as well. Isn't it funny? But as we look back at those times in own grandmother's kitchen all I can remember is her patients, smile, and the filling of being loved. Cat it makes it so much more enjoyable to have all the items together, rather than having to drag everything out each time you want to bake. I kind of did the same thing with our coffee and tea station, we start and end our day in that area. I wished I would have done that years ago. Your kitchen is my dream come true! I'm currently in college (I'm 37, have two children and a husband, so I'm working towards very specific goals) and when I graduate we have two acres on my family's property to build our dream. Also, the beginning of this video made me a little teary because it reminded me of my grandmother. I miss her so much that it hurts. She passed away twelve years ago on December 28, two weeks after my first child was born. ❤ Strangely enough, my first born acts just like my grandmother. I couldn't be more proud.
Erica I am sorry for your loss, you grandmother sounds like she was a lovely person. My dad passed away in 2001, and my second son was young at the time. Over the years I am reminded of my dad, when my son acts a certain way, or even just an expression. I am a woman of Faith and when I was working as a nurse many of my patients that had near death experiences would share them with me. The story was always very similar, they would say I know this sounds crazy but I saw a white light and felt the presence of family/friends that had passed and it was comforting. They go on to say they wanted to stay with them but were pulled back and woke up. I don't understand all of the wonders of the universe, but it sounds like you have a guardian angel, I feel my dad watching over me as well. God Bless Shelby

Oh my! I have the same mixer that my mom gave me! Mine's is probably 40+ years old and still kicking. I make brioche dough in it, pasta dough cookies etc... Basically I am amazed that it still runs and have not had to repair it once. I have heard from other TH-camr's that the newer Kitchen Aids just are not built as well...lots of plastic parts inside. I am a new subscriber surfing through your older videos and found a reason to comment. Love your home and your channel.

My grandmother baked everything herself bread.. Cakes etc and made all her own jam's she always let me join in and thats why i love baking id really love to have a baking station like yours its so well organised and has everything.
Awe, I loved this post and just a little envious of your bake center. I too am a fan of the clear acrylic storage containers and system. That is a wonderful heavy duty mixer. I have a Bosch that was over 30 years old that I handed down to my daughter and bought myself a new one. Mistake, I should have bought her the new one and kept my old Bosch. I have been doing a once a week Grandma's Cooking School with my grand daughter. I made her a little recipe book and have the recipes ready for her to add to it each week. They are in plastic sleevs to keep them clean and I hope she will cook from them someday after I am long gone. Her favorites were the cinnamon rolls and homemade pretzels. Memories!

Why am I in tears after reading this?My grandmum stepped in as my mun and untill the day she peacefully left while she held my hands.I am always greatful for that moment and the blessings.

there are hardly words about how well stocked and organized your "baking" center is... I'm totally jealous about it, I don't have nearly as much to store or to utilize, but yours is my dream baking center, perhaps if I had such a beautiful area I would feel inspired to bake more often! Saving this as my inspiration for when we remodel our house and kitchen! Totally need a baking center like this... simply beautiful!!!

That is really nice Shelby.The treasure is the rolling pins it brought a tear to my eye.Oh the memory's.And you are so right about recipes being story's.And making memories that last generations.I just taught my son's girl how to make pirogi and the filling.And she showed me a butternut filling she had made up herself it was really good.And I just adore the pantry door.:-)blessing kat
Yes Kat the rolling pins are special to me. I think of each of these wonderful ladies who molded my life every time I use them. It does my heart good when I hear families sharing recipes and cooking together....there is simplicity and honesty in that. I matched the pantry door to the glass inlays in my upper cabinets.

Just do a little at a time. Maybe organize your spices, and then baking items.....I really like to break bigger projects down into manageable steps. Pretty soon you will look back and it will be amazing how much you accomplish. Sometimes just getting started is the hardest part. Wishing you all the best! Shelby

Gorgeous to look at and Very exciting and clearly succeeds in encouraging one to bake more. Sorry I didn't find this sooner, it is now 2024, in this time the storage countainers that make everything orderly and sparkling are just FAR $$$$ beyond me as we fight to survive against inflation. None the less I now have a goal. In the meantime I will fake it till I make it.
