    If people haven't tried Japanese or purple sweet potatoes... life changing! They are so very delicious without the over rich flavor orange sweet potatoes have. I also love the grain Farro. I prefer it over pastas. But I love whole grain pasta too. 😋

    I been overweight since i was 10 and ive tried so many things. I lost so much weight on one meal a day but not all of it. Then I tried keto on and off for a long time and it worked but its hard to continue forever. I did recently lose weight on my latest keto run but it was so tough on my stomach and now im gonna try keeping some of yhe keto meals whoch were high in protein and fats and adding complex carbs. Hope it goes well. Thanks. :)

    Hi…I workout 5 to 6 days out week I barely just started to add carbs Into my diet because I was in the keto diet for about two years, and before that I was in the low-carb diet .I was able to build some muscle but not very much I feel like my muscles look deflated it doesn’t have a nice bulky look from all the work out that I put in so now I’m adding carbs to see if that would help. I’m just afraid of adding too little or too much. My calorie intake is 1950 little bit below maintenance. Ive start off eating complex carbs I’m doing oatmeal and black beans I’m trying to aim at least 100 to 150 g of carbs on the days that I know I do heavy workouts and then online days I aim for 50 but I think I should still keep it a little bit higher even on my days off, because I think my body needs to recover from all the years of not having complex carbs…. If you could, please give me your input I appreciate that so much. Thank you.

    What personally works really well for me is following a “low carb diet” on cardio-only days & rest days (I like going for walks for cardio) while also incorporating some complex carbs (fruit, beans, & whole grains) for days that I do strength training. And of course I eat vegetables everyday.
    The whole grain options I like are Dave’s Killer Bread 21 Whole Grains Thin Slices, every now and then Kodiak Cakes protein pancake & waffle mix to make waffles (it uses whole wheat flour), and Kodiak instant protein oatmeal. I’m not a rice person so I usually don’t eat it, but if I do it’ll be white rice used in sushi on my cheat days 😅

    I truly need your help. I’ve been the same weight all my life except in the past year, I’ve gained 10 lbs around my middle. I’m 73 and very active. I play pickle ball 2 hours 5 days a week and teach yoga 3 days a week. I eat half a cup of blueberries with a hard boiled egg every morning. At lunch I eat a cup of raw cauliflower, 4 radishes, 2 stalks celery and half a cake dressed in extra virgin olive oil and lemon. Dinner consists of chicken mostly with a veggie and salad. I don’t eat sugar and sweets of any type. Ok, here’s my problem, my husband and I love to sit at the end of the day and enjoy a cocktail while preparing dinner. I never eat anything after dinner. I’m at a loss and feel desperate to lose these extra lbs. I need a nutritionist and you seem to be exactly what I need. Straight forward and to the root of the problem. Help.

    Question: Does a high protein/fat intake day, mixed with complex carbs, does this store fats in the body? Or does fat only gets stored in the body when you eat simple carbs with lots of protein/fats.

    • @MichelleRoots
      @MichelleRoots  ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Yup Toree this is correct. I preach this in a lot of my videos, some foods are the healthier option and will provide your body with more nutrients and fuel, but everything should be allowed in moderation. It's all about healthy balance.

      Food (definition): any nutritious substance that people or animals eat or drink or that plants absorb in order to maintain life and growth. --- Just because it is “edible” doesn’t mean it is nutritious. Play dough is edible. Simple carbs are closer to play dough than an actual food.

    After a year on keto, and living in fear of ‘carbs,’ I have shed the fear, and for several months have allowed myself to eat so called forbidden carbs (which in keto world) that means beans, grains etc. enjoying my grains, veges, and pluses. Guess what, haven’t gained an ounce! Moderation, and like you say, ‘quality of calories.’ No mind fog, and droopy workouts. Hooray

    How many carbs a day is ok for weight loss?

  • @Field-Meerkat
    @Field-Meerkat ปีที่แล้ว +1

    HELP ME PLEASE! I've just switched to myfitnesspal from WW because I want to count my macros as I'm weight training. I've followed Michelle's video on working out calorie intake and the protein/carbs/fats split. It just seems that I've hit my carbs goal before I've even reached dinner, and that's because of all the fruit I eat throughout the day! So I don't know what to do? I can eat my usual amount of fruit then not have any pasta/rice/potatoes for dinner (which would make me sad) or cut back on the fruit? Or because these are good carbs does it matter if I go over?

    • @MichelleRoots
      @MichelleRoots  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hmmm few questions... this depends what your current goal is? are you strength training? what do you have your macro percentages at? it's possible your carb goal could be too low?? It's hard to give a direct answer here without knowing more - but my best advice is fruit is loaded with micronutrients and should not be cut out - but also don't know how much is "too much" fruit each morning lol

    • @Field-Meerkat
      @Field-Meerkat ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MichelleRoots Ahh thanks for replying! I go for 35% carbs as recommended in a previous video which for me is 129g.
      I tend to eat a banana, apple, satsuma and grapes and sometimes blueberries in a day (I had been doing weight watchers and all fruit is zero points so never really thought about it lol). I don't feel like I'm eating too much fruit but not having much allowance for potatoes or pasta with my dinner has really thrown me because that's what I consider proper carbs 😂
