- Many of you have told me how much you love the Necrons that I did for my recent commission. Being a Space Marine player, it was quite difficult for me to figure out the right color scheme but with some trial and error, I think I got it right! Im brand new to WH and painting, ive searched up thousands of tutorials on how to paint my necrons. One thing I've learned is that, yes there are universal tips ans tricks you can use, ultimately you can paint them how YOU want to paint them, so long as you enjoy what you do. Most of all, dont compare yourself. Instead, inspire yourself.
I've always loved the aesthetics of Necrons, and that weapon glow came out beautifully! Nothing quite like Immortal Egyptian Space Terminators marching with Neon Glowsticks to strike fear into the enemy!
That green on silver glow is just so sexy 😚

Fantastic tutorial I’ve been looking for something to get me started. I just bought the elite edition this year because of all the hype surrounding the Warhammer supposed movie or TV series so I figured I’d delve into this since I’ve always been a D&D and tabletop guy This will be new to me and I’m very excited and this has to be one of the most detailed. Hey, this is how you kinda do it videos love it even though I’m two years late better late than never, and you made a subscriber out of me.

finally took the plunge and started painting necrons, im loving how you make it glow. i really wanna get the necron sigil on the chest but got is it hard!

@@thedrypaintpot I do have a suggestion actualy. A follow up to this concerning the overlord. How to paint there blades. And I am guessing there are a few different styles to paint in if I look around. And maybe some alternative dynastie colors.

I always struggle with the green glow, I'll deffo try this method. I think watering tesseract glow down as you said will help.
It’ll surely make a big difference. Learned the hard way starting off by painting a character with that stuff right out the pot, you learn quick that thin is how to do it 👍🏻

Thank you for this awesome video! Bought my first necon set and started painting guided by this video. For now, it looks pretty damn cool, if I say so myself haha. The only thing I struggle with is the edge highlighting. Do you have any tips or tricks on that topic?
That’s exactly why I make these videos, so happy to hear it’s helped! As for edge highlight, get a brush with a nice fine tip. I get the best results by using brushes that aren’t too small, I end up edge highlighting with my later brushes. Make sure there’s not too much paint on your brush and carefully run the edge of the brush along the edges you’re highlighting. Whenever I get time to make a new video, I’ll demonstrate

Man it's the eyes I have the most difficulty with.
A bit late viewing this clip, but, I'd suggest putting in two or three stainless steel ball bearings, which would act as an agitator for all one's paints. No waste residue on a 'stiring stick'?
Not a bad idea! Wasn’t sure because of how thick it clumps but I’ll give it a go
How did you get the cryptek armorshade to come out that clean and light? I tried your method but all my necrons look super dark and dirty
Try going back over some raised areas with pure base color but don’t go overboard and cover the places you want dark. Also, water down the shade

Have you tried oil paints for darkening the sliver or for weathering.
No, I actually haven’t tried oils on minis. How’s the result?
@@thedrypaintpot works great I use Abteilung 502 Black for my Necrons, and I use Abteilung 502 Burnt Umbra for my Death Guard. If you get a change look up some people on the TH-cam using them. Mostly your Grimdark and Blanchitsu style. It is a little bit more work than an acrylic wash but well worth it.

I’m not sure, haven’t used them yet. I love the look but I’m not sure if it would be good on the models I want to use it for. I pack my army into a foam case and I’m afraid it might make the dry pigments wear

Hmmmm perhaps agrax earthshade with some reikland fleshshade? Perhaps a bit of gloss nuln oil? Maybe I’ll mix some washes together and let ya know!

I know! ☹️ idk why they would but ehhh who knows with GW. Good alternative off the top of my head might be a mix of fleshshade and Agrax with a light nuln oil gloss on top
@@thedrypaintpot I've heard the paint had some technical issues, I believe it became sort of gummy according to people who used it, but Trovarion seemed to come up with a very simple alternative, ya it's what you said, Reikland Fleshshade on top of plain silver, I haven't tried just yet but looked very solid!

The trick was I painted them for somebody and used the money to buy more models for my real army 😏
