Would love to here lore of the carcharodons with excerpts from the novels and shorts : red tithe, outer dark, reaping time, the judges in their hunger, and death warrant.
Something that most people are not aware of that I think I mentioned under one of your other videos, is that Fabius Bile ascended to be a minor god of Chaos. His trilogy is a great read and explains his ascension as well as who the "fake" Fabius Bile's are that are still around in the current era of 40k. EDIT: Also, the lore you detailed for the Ghoul King of the flayed ones is more of a "horror story" Necrons tell to each other and not the true nature of the dynasty. If you read the two books currently out in the Necron trilogy (Reign & Ruin) you get to learn how the Ghoul King became the Ghoul King and what his true motives are. The flayer virus doesn't turn necrons into flesh hungry savages, it's just a symptom of the bio transference that some necrons still have their biological urges (e.g. wanting to breathe) while trapped in metal bodies. The inability to actually perform these acts slowly drives them crazy and causes their bodies to warp. The Ghoul King is actually just a very kind and selfless Necron who wants to help others not lose themselves to a virus and establish a safe haven for the afflicted. EDIT2: With the writing I'm doing I really hope you get around to read this. If you want to deepdive into the necrons and specifically what they might evolve into read the two books I've mentioned and also the book about the vendetta between Trazyn and Orikan as well as the newest Ahriman book. There are a couple of necrons out there that have pushed past biotransference and become unspeakable things and Ahriman accidentally unleashed a Dynasty imprisoned by the silent king himself for their power.
I am surprised you forgot the Necron Dynasty in the Jericho Reach, the Suhbekhar. Who's crown world exists in quantum pocket inside a G type star. They harness the energy of the star to power the crown world. The problem for them is their Phareon mind became so corrupted over the long sleep he is unrecoverable. But the elites of the Dynasty know there is a massive super weapon and plan created by their Phareon for the Jericho Reach sector. Expect because of obedience protocols, none can remember what it is, how it will activate or what it even does. Current steward Ahhotekh of the Dynasty is barely holding things together and a rival dynasty has entered the Reach (traditionally Suhbekhar territory). While the Deathwatch is also trying to discover the ancient Necron plan. The steward Ahhotekh has come to believe two things after centuries of studying the humans and Tau of the reach. One the Tau, their history, their nature and even rise with Ethereals/Tau empire. Have convinced him they are Necrotyr off shoot race of some kind. That one or another dynasty, Cryptek or Phareon secretly created them. More than likely as means to return to flesh for the Necron. Second, that because of EoM, the Primarchs, Space Marines, human pyskers and nulls. That the Humanity is kind of doomsday weapon created by the Old Ones at the end of the War in Heaven. Though doesn't know if the Old Ones intended them to be uplifted by the Old Ones (like the Alderi and Kroks) to fight in the War in Heaven. Or as backup plan to take care of the galaxy if they lost the War in Heaven and their uplifted warrior races like the Kroks and Alderi were unable to take the role of stewards.
The Empire of the Severed is one dynasty I found interesting. Basically, some kind of radiation storm wiped out the memory banks of the Necrons sleeping on the Tomb World of Sarkon, resulting in them becoming truly mindless, and the Master Program of the Tomb World itself became the Necron Overlord called the Sarkoni Emperor and took command of the dynasty.
You missed the Maynarkh Dynasty ruled by the Phaerakh (female Phaeron) Xun'bakyr, The Mother of Oblivion. They're the ones responsible for taking down half an Imperial sector and the Angels Revenant space marine chapter. They're also known to have ERASED a C'tan from existence, properly and not shattering it into fragments (Llandu'gor, whose death is reported to be responsible for the flayer virus). They have black hole weapons and use Flayed Ones as troops.
@@celsetialarchives5909 The Maynarkhs are the chief aggressor in the Orphean Sector, which I believe is covered in one of the Imperial Armour campaigns. They're the ones who killed the C'Tan Ll'andugor, and when he died he released his curse, the Flayed One disease, also called the Disphorak in the Twice-Dead King series.
Id love to hear you talk a little about the Sarnekh Dynasty, the pirate necrons! They're lead by a former exile who reprogrammed the tomb world to see him as the sole ruler, and he calls himself the Reaver King Thaszar.
It's only those that are under the silent kings rule wants to return to flesh and blood, there are still plenty of necrons who prefer their living metal
I'm an avid Warhammer fan in almost every aspect, especially the lore. My favorite faction are the necrons and they are maine main faction in the tabletop game. I've read quite a few Necrons books and consumed tons of additional lore from videos and wiki articles. And has been for years. But despite all that, I still have very little grasp of the entire dynasties and absurd chronology of the Necrons. Damn it, i really needed this video.
Holy shit! "It's as if war to them is less a battle for honor and territory, and more like a hyper advanced industry of slaughter." Is such a raw line!
I’ve never played this game. But as a trucker I’ve listened to damn near every song and podcast that even remotely interests me in the past 6 years. I enjoy listening to these videos as I’m rolling down the road. It’s put together nicely and the tone of voice is great.
Necrons are such a gem to behold and how great they have have become or changed solid characters and technology a lot better position then the Eldear or Tau but so stagnant and who knows if they can or will be flesh
Good stuff Wes! I'd request an Ork vehicle episode. The people need to know about the Scrapjet, the Boomdakka Snazzwagon, and the Gorkanaut... it's left arm is a piloted giant gatling gun where each barrel is another regular sized gatling gun. The Ork piloting that has gotta be the happiest being in the 40k universe.
I usually run Szarahkhan, I like the better rean prot and living metal their command protocol gets, the ability to shrug mortals and they get one of Necrons only deny the witch. I'd love a video about the individual Necrons like Imotekh, Trazyn and Anrakyr
ever since I heard Trazyn talk about the history of the galaxy, i've been waiting on a video from you about the necrons Wes! And by Nurgles gifts, im here for it!
Your videos have been a major inspiration for me to start my own channel on 40k, so thank you very much for that Wes! And as usual, excellent video. Focusing on the subfractions for each faction is definitely fun, and I hope you'll get around to doing one on the craftworlds as well someday.
You have already covered the Flayed ones before but it might be interesting to do a more in depth video about their origins (and combine it with the Destroyers) while the common theory is that it is curse from the C'tan Llandu'gor, and there is a lot of evidence that points towards that, the Twice Dead King series paints a far more complex picture.
Once again asking for a deep dive on Garviel Loken! My first foray into the lore of 40k was the Horus Heresy. At the time, I didn't know that it had taken place 10,000 years in the past relative to the setting of the game. That didn't stop me from seeing Garviel Loken as the epitome of what an Astartes should be, and the standard I've compared all others since.
Hi Wes! I've recently been binging your videos as an introduction to 40k lore. I just wanted to say that you do a masterful job at presenting information in your videos. Something I would personally like to see from you as an admitted newb to the franchise, would be a top 20 video of random 40k lore that you think is simply badass. There is so much lore that I think a list of 40k juicy bits would be awesome to cement my newfound addiction. Thanks for the hard work.
id like to see a deep dive on the Men of Iron at some point. I hear them mentioned pretty frequently but i can only ever find brief summaries about their lore.
Would you consider doing deep dives into each Primarch's personality? Thoroughly enjoy your videos lad, you are a truly poggers addition to the youtube 40k lore community :)
I think it would be awesome to see a lore video on all the different Tau Septs, and their cultures. Also their camo schemes and what not, there's a lot of intrigueing things about the Tau not many people discuss.
Tbh, the guy in charge of the flayed ones planet, is doing everyone a massive favor. Imagine if they were completely unhinged and started spreading to other worlds. It'd cause so much uneeded chaos. Hats off to him!
Ah yes. A WesHammer Video with a WesHammer pre-ad and a recommendation to a WesHammer Short... Literally cannot get more WesHammer in if I wanted to. Keep rocking it man you are killing it!
Hey Wes! I think it would be an interesting video to explore places in the 40k universe you would actually WANT to live in. Everything is so horrifying in the grimdark universe, but surely there's places left with thriving societies and peaceful cultures, right? Thanks for all the content!
Uhm. No, I don't think there is such a place. Closest thing is probably the haven worlds of the Eldar and the web ways connecting it, but even that is pretty shitty because either you're an Eldar, meaning your soul is going to become Slaneshs plaything eventually, or you're not an Eldar so they're gonna hunt you down and murder you painfully.
Paradise worlds, they exist and only those born on them, the extremely rich, massively decorated war heroes, or super influential rouge traders even get to set foot on them
@@manlyman2624 yeah, no. Those places are either built on top of a necron tomb, in the path of a hive fleet or just get a random obliteration by demons.
The Sautekh just don't understand the worth of the biological lifeforms. They create so much interesting stuff that would look great in my museum. All the things that just wait to be sto- I'm mean to be liberated ofc. Without them my collection couldn't grow anymore. But yet they still wouldn't see the worth of the biologicals and the things they create when it shot them with a gauss rifle right into their Neuroreceptors! Well I stated my point, I have to go now my fellow lore and history enjoyers. I still have a playdate with Orikan that I have to attend to.
Yes! I was waiting for a video of the Necro boys for a long time! I really enjoyed the video and wanted to say thank you Wes, for making these in a way that even someone like me that havent play the game nor have I read a book but still love the lore can understand and enjoy, please keep them coming!
Love the Necrons, but cant say I have a favorite...but I love how such an ancient and mysterious race, found unusual ways to adapt to their surroundings and be efficient!
It may be difficult... But could you please consider a deep dive video on the Alpha Legion now that there is some actual meat in terms of lore for them? Great work as always! Thanks for the content!
I love the Maynarkh, if you don't know about them. The Silent King's personal executioners back in the day, they were ruled over by the only Phaerakh i know of: Xun'bakyr, The Mother of Oblivion. One of their final acts as living Necrontyr was the murderof the C'tan known as Llandu'Gor the Flayer, and it's said The Flayer Virus originated in their ranks. After waking up in the current setting, the ones that aren't already Flayed Ones have sort of fallen into nihilism and despair because they all understand Llandu'Gor's curse means that eventually they're all going to succumb. Xun'bakyr has united them and given them a purpose, which basically amounts to "if we're going down, we're taking fucking everyonewith us," and the Maynarkh are now essentially a Dynasty-wide Destroyer Cult, relentlessly fixated on killing every living thing in the Galaxy
Hey Wes. Have you ever done a full deep dive on the Ghoul Stars? Because if not, given how much life you inject into all the spooky parts of Warhammer lore, I'd absolutely love to see your take on them.
You should discuss the Anchorite, he’s the only Word Bearer to still be loyal and has been in prison for over 10,000 years and yet the imperial cult and the Ecclesiarch use many of his teaching and words in the worship of the emperor without even knowing it’s from a heretic
@WesHammer, would love a video on The Flaerszakht Dynasty, even though (or especially because) it is a bespoke dynasty created by Samuel Badsocks and GW as part of Make-A-Wish
When I heard the necrons were gonna get a focus in 9th edition in really wanted to see the bone kingdom get fleshed out (pun intended.) I just think the flayed ones are a really terrifying and interesting aspect of the lore. They're the main corruptive threat to the necrons and are basically the polar opposite to the slayer cult.
When it comes to Necrons it's really hard for me to side with anyone besides Trazyn the Infinite. The history minor in my degree demands it of me. But the Thokt Dynasty now definitely has my interest. Something that would be helpful, especially with their taking a more involved part in current happenings in the galaxy, would be doing a video on the Ynnari. Things are going on with all of those in the Aeldari codex, and while it seems to be more background to major things like Primarchs returning and hive fleet Leviathan, I think they may be getting some bigger moments soon-ish.
What I like about the necrons is that everything that they have is just technology and not related to the warp. They managed to achieve superior weapons despite not using the warp.
If you're looking for a new topic to talk about, I think talking about the White Scars could be interesting. I love their lore and it's why I made them my first 40K army for the Tabletop
When it comes to not-quite dynastic Necrons, as an oldcron fan, I find the Empire of the Severed to be my favourite thus far. A Necron Master Control Program that took over its mind-wiped creators, and spreads like malware to other Necrons, turning them into mindless drones of what is essentially 40k's version of Skynet.
An idea I’ve always enjoyed playing around with is the idea of sort of a reverse necron dynasty, one that views their metal bodies as abominations and view it as an offense to the universe, and as opposed to fighting to restore necron rule they fight against other necrons and seek to destroy the entire necron race in atonement for their sins, and while they don’t help other species they won’t attack other species unless provoked and may even help other factions if they’re fighting necrons. Their ultimate goal is to wipe the necrons and everything they created from the universe in the name of atonement and to prevent them from making a universe destroying oopsie
Imagine a necron noble having their engrams corrupted in the sleep so that instead of being extremely arrogant they were extremely humble. Would they fare better than their big-ego counterparts?
The Maynarkh Dynasty have a really rich history and are the executioner legion to the SK in the same way that Leman Russ/Space wolves are to the big E. They are also responsible for the Flayer curse/virus and so definitely worth covering!
Since flayed ones can teleport vast distances, retain some bits of their original personality, and are possibly contagious in an unknown way, perhaps Vargle(the Fallen Lord) isn't insane, he's just keeping them from spreading. But, regardless, I'm a Nihllakh player. Trazyn is Nihllakh(though most of his dynasty hates him).
The Necrons are the OP of the powerful setting. The Song of Oblivion the Silent King's flasgship has wrecked entire war fleets without receiving a scratch.
I have read those books, they were amazing. That being said, and I could be mis remembering. I vaguely remember that being a different dynasty that was just very similar?
@@weshammer Spoilers for the book: There's a bit of a fate/time shinnanigans happening, where Oltyx travels to Drazak, to seek a way to cure the Flayer virus from himself, while also finding a new home for his dying dynasty. When he finally arrives there, the planet is empty. There are countless dead alien and necron ancient ships surrounding it. The planet is vacant. The throne room is empty. Oltyx claims the world for himself and his people, as well as the name "Valgûl, the Fallen Lord". Weather there was ever a previous "Valgul" is unclear. It seemed the legends of the Bone Kingdom were not legends, but a prophesy. Oltyx ultimately became the ruler of Drazak and accepted the ones claimed by the Flayer virus as his people.
I am super dumb lol. I read those books, I love those books, and I was utterly convinced that it was just a new faction that was made up for the story. I'm gonna have to go back and re read these sections now. Pretty nutty what that one mask relic turned out to be
Without knowing much about the drazak ruler the reason he may remain could possibly be to keep his insane subjects in check or instead of just raiding nearby world's every so without him they might go on s path of unrestrained bloodshed till they got put down possibly trying to create a cure for the insanity given if he is apparently more or less sane thats what i would assume possible reasons to remain
Can you look into “Loyalist” Space Marines from the Chaos Legions and if any survived the massacre Horus set up for them!! The only one i know of is Garviel Loken, and the ones on the Eisenstine, it be interesting if there were anymore and what happened to them!!
Are there any stories that follow a member of the Carcharodons. They really peak my interest as to how they manage as a group dynamic and how they avoid getting through out by the other legions.
I’ve been following off & on for a few years now. Always been interested in tabletop game decided on necrons and now I gotta look into dynasties lol. Thokt dynasty look cool any lore on them.
The Civil war would be something else if it happens or if they unite and focus on the Tyrnids first probably the latter as the Silent king has more influence and power then Imhotek
Its knowledge about the difference dynasties that lead to the theory that when the Necrontyr died in the furnaces of bio-transference. That since the C'tan can't consume souls (a thing of the Warp), the consumed their Bah or lifeforce. Which is separate from the soul and of the material universe. This meant that untold Necrontyr souls were literally burned into the Warp (though Necrontyr elites may have kept some small piece of their souls when they became Necrons). The Necrontyr may have had dim souls, but souls nonetheless. Meaning that the Necrontyr souls created the nucleus of the 3 first Chaos gods. They didn't necessarily out right create them, but they were the seed that grew into them. Khorne, the marshal nature and blood lust of the Necrontyr. Nurgle in the endless pain and dieses their radiation corrupted flesh gave them their who lives, while their race spent its entire existence look for relief. To Tzeentch and their endless schemes to gain rank in Necrontyr society and untimely change their fate.

Mephrit: Please just one second I just want to see orrery like a tiny pea-
Oruscar: *n o*
Another great video! Thanks for the consistent uploads! I'm trying to drop a video a week which is wayyy more work then I thought it would be 😅
Xun' Bayker The Mother of Oblivion with her Maynark Dynasty
It may be difficult... But could you please consider a deep dive video on the Alpha Legion now that there is some actual meat in terms of lore for them? Great work as always! Thanks for the content!
Thanks for talking Necron Dynasties Wes!
Just got off work and Wes drips a new vid?
Awesome!
Give me all the necron lore. This lore is like flesh to a necron
Necrons are my favorite!
A new weshammer video and my day is saved
Would've been funny to start the list with Drazak, the planet of the Flayed Ones after that sponsor
Another belter from Wes you can't go wrong. 🤘🤘
I was just wondering when would be the next video, keep the great work Wes ! :D
Right off the bat, Weshammer speaks some facts.
I just can’t wait until the final battle when big E, khaine, and clown guy to and beat up the chaos gods
Damn! I love this!! Thank you so much for the insight!!! As always, amazing job Wes!
What I like about the necrons is that everything that they have is just technology and not related to the warp.
They managed to achieve superior weapons despite not using the warp.
Another, Weshammer video... This made my day... Trazyn best necrons, that is why the Nihilakh dynasty is the best dynasty
If you're looking for a new topic to talk about, I think talking about the White Scars could be interesting. I love their lore and it's why I made them my first 40K army for the Tabletop
Alak"ghe..
Another Weshammer necron video, yes! Do Aza’gorod✨
I had a 40k game ad with Wes hammer in it before this Wes hammer video 😂
custom necron dynasty. Would be nice to hear thoughts on how and why somone would explore and expand on the necron
Necrons: Exist.
Wes: I'm going to show you just so many ends of spectrums that you'll start doubting science itself.
I think it’d be great to hear your voice acting and an addition to your horror videos if you wanted to expand on the Bone Kingdom of Drazak.
Mephrit through and through. Why waste time when we can just obliterate our foes by looking at them.
Please do more on this!
The Necrons are the OP of the powerful setting. The Song of Oblivion the Silent King's flasgship has wrecked entire war fleets without receiving a scratch.
I think it’d be great to hear your excellent voice acting and an addition to your horror videos if you wanted to expand on the Bone Kingdom of Drazak.
I would love if you did a video on the Forgeworlds of the Mechanicus
Hope you do the video on the details of the Horus Heresy from the start to the end
I would actually love to hear you talking about the Necromunda lore.
Hi, my name is Peter, and I am addicted to diving into the grim-dark.
Hi Peter!
Great video... I don't know if you noticed but there's a game of Warhammer 40k speed freeks... Take a look
I just watched the trailer!!! It looks awesome! Twisted metal with orks! Absolute genius!
How about a video how each Astartes legion would treat their Psykers?
I love your videos they’re the best 40K videos out there right up there with luetin09 the plague god loves you and give blessings of good luck
I hope you've read Twice Dead King Reign, regarding the Bone Kingdom of Drazak
90% sure he referenced it in another video
I have read those books, they were amazing. That being said, and I could be mis remembering. I vaguely remember that being a different dynasty that was just very similar?
@@weshammer Spoilers for the book:
There's a bit of a fate/time shinnanigans happening, where Oltyx travels to Drazak, to seek a way to cure the Flayer virus from himself, while also finding a new home for his dying dynasty.
Pretty nutty what that one mask relic turned out to be
A flayed triarch or destroyer would be cool for some kitbash units
Have the Novokh and khornes legions ever battle it out?? i feel like that would be a hell of a gory mess.
If anything they’d team up
I believe in one day when this will be a simple video when you just say: They are just the silent king faction.
A video about skinless robotic beings with an add for skincare, that's brutal WesHammer, I'm proud of you XD
Sponsored by the Bone Kingdom of Drazak ;D
I like the tomb world ai that took over all the necrons
I’ve been following off & on for a few years now. Always been interested in tabletop game decided on necrons and now I gotta look into dynasties lol. Thokt dynasty look cool any lore on them.
You should do a video on how powerful grey knights actually are I think most people tend to sleep on them
The Civil war would be something else if it happens or if they unite and focus on the Tyrnids first probably the latter as the Silent king has more influence and power then Imhotek
Hello good afternoon WestHammer the Necrons are really terrifying another amazing tasty well researched offering For the Emperor!
I just got the necron magic deck.
I feel like Khorne LOVES the Novokh Dynasty
