I bought one of these back in the day and still use it from time to time, just sits in the living room, lol. It was the huge speakers at the time that attracted myself to buy one, oh and the sound output very nice. Neighbours don't like it though, haha. Might do a video on mine one day, probably caps need replacing.
Thank you so much for this video! I've got an old Sony LBT-D205 that I would like to repair. It looks super saveable, and your video has shown me a bit on how to do it. I'm not experienced in repairs *at all* but I wanna save these old hi-fi equipments because they are super good for their age even by today's standards. You've taught a girl how to possibly do it right without breaking the whole thing. Cheers!
Give it a go. As long as you dont force anything apart it should be fine. Take photos or do a video to remember how to put it back together if needed, and be safe. Always unplug from the mains while working on it, and keep eyes away from CD lasers when there is no disc in the unit.
For sure! I don't have the CD attachment, didn't come with from the second hand store, but I'm not hurting for an optical reader much anyway. But yes, keeping it off power and then grounding it an extra time to be sure it gonna be the way to go before looking into it. Electrics are dangerous without proper safety protocol.
I will when I have some more appropriate tools! I don't have the optical drive module on my kit, so I won't worry about that. Taking pictures and video is a good idea. Unplugging from mains should be a no-brainer, but it's good that you remind people! Electricity is right dangerous without the proper safety protocols. I will need new drive belts for the cassette deck and I might've found a supplier for investing in it when I have the resources. I jus hope I won't need to solder anything, then I'll be outta luck for now.

They could pump out the sound. At least they didnt have all the flashing lights like the later ones which were a bit over the top.
