Thanks for the walk-through, James. Just got one of these and was pleasantly surprised to see you come up in my TH-cam feed. Been 20 years, but I miss working with you, boss. Keep it up!
Picked up my G5230T 2 weeks back and it's tough to put down. It resides on my office wall with my G6120CMHOF Hank Williams when I do put it down. Thanks for the demo!
Maybe the most easy to play and sweetest sounding "budget" models I've ever had the great pleasure to own. If the excellent Quality of these Jets amazes you then it's because of the the superb Yako factory that makes these. When you see a "CY" serial number on yours it means it was the Yako factory that crafted it with care. The Yako factory crew has made the first run of and the very best of the Squire Classic Vibe series and even their Affinity Squire's feel like Charvels from my experience with their really great necks and fret finishing too.
I just got mine today. Same colour. Blown away! I’m usually a Made in USA guy, but this guitar is beautiful. Not only in looks, but also in sound & playability. Came set up perfectly out of the box. The guitar is way more than I expected. It is quite heavy though. Thought it might be lighter, seeing that it’s chambered.
Great review and insight, I just bought a G5237TG which seems to be a G5230 just with Gold Hardware (2023 Model) This guitar really spoke to me as I first was looking at a G5427TG but the binding on that hollow body was a bit too bothersome. This guitar reminds me of George Harrison's Jet although this is an entry level, this guitar being made in China has surpassed my expectations. I love it!
My exact guitar color and all. I just changed out the tuners to grover locking for better tuning stability very fun guitar to play. Tons of used on Reverb for 500 bucks basically
I have the exact same Gretsch in the red finish, for the money it's fabulous...it feels solid as a rock too & really well made. I rekon it will last years in normal use & perhaps as a gigging instrument. It's a keeper for sure so much so I bought the G2655T Jr in the mint finish;

Hey Mike! Thank you brother, and thanks for watching! Hope all is well. GREAT guitar, now I know where I can borrow one . :) LOL
Thanks for this great demo/review. You helped me decide to get one! I got the blue one, but they all look great. It is a pleasure to look at and play.
Bought it recently in blue, fantastic guitar, really versatile!
Good choice! Love it.
Love em.

Just Picked 1 Up Today, Excited beyond description Aleutian Blue $450 Steal. Thanks !
The Ron Swanson of guitar
Nice demo! I am mainly a Fender/single coil guy. Would this model be good for the guitar stable if you're looking for a Les Paul style/sound? Thanks.
Did you say Bigsby B-50? I thought the 5230 had a B-5. Maybe I made a mistake…
Yup. The 5230T has a B50 according to the Gretsch spec sheet.
No asian gretsch have an american bigsby
How is the tuning stability?
Hey Frank, very few if no problems while filming, Even with a little Bigsby work. Now, total bombs, could be a different story lol. Solid though
I changed the bridge to a roller one and it cured any tuning issues. Great guitar.
I can’t decide whether to buy red or casino gold
Tough decision. Both are great colors!
The tremolo-vibrato thing is all Leo Fender’s fault.
Silly Engineers lol
@@jamesgmusic AFAIK, he wasn't an engineer. Engineers are usually sticklers for terminology. ( Not that it really matters, of course. 🤣 )
This one in cadillac green will be my next guitar
