Just got this exact model yesterday, very chimey, I think I like the cleaner tones better on this!!! I will have to play around with the tone knobs a bit, great guitar for the money, they even knocked $100 off at GC, had to do a setup on it, adjust the neck and a few tweaks on the intonation, playing pretty good now!!!

Fender offers better electronics, tuners, bridges, saddles, Alnico pickups, vintage-stained necks with superior finishes, and, of course... the iconic Fender logo ✨ My 2017 Affinity actually has an alder body, though it's slightly thinner than a full-body Fender. Over time, I upgraded it with used Fender, Hosco, and Gotoh parts I found in the marketplace. Now, I’d say it’s on par with my 2010 Fender '70s Telecaster MIM, aside from the Fender's better neck finish. The topload bridge isn’t an issue, and the thinner body actually makes it more comfortable to play without sacrificing the classic look. You can always buy a Fender to get a great guitar out of the box (though you might still end up modding and upgrading it because even Fender isn’t 100% perfect). Alternatively, you could go the DIY route, buy a more affordable Squier, and mod it for around $500. Ultimately, it all comes down to your budget, needs, and maybe even your thirst for adventure. Buying a used Fender is also a great option 🤣

I bought the Alvarez RG260CESB at Guitar Center for $300. Im new at playing guitar so what the heck do I know about guitars? I started out on piano and synthesizers and studied music at a local community college back in my early 30s. Due to logistics problems of a piano, I decided to take up guitar at the age of 62. My first guitar was a chinese starter bundle on Ebay for $136. I wanted to make sure I was going to stick with it. A month later I took a trip to Guitar Center and started trying different guitars in my price range of up to $500. The only thing I could play was the Am opening on Angie. I came across the Alvarez. I asked another gentleman nearby if he could strum some chords for me on the Alvarez, which he did. Long story short, I bought the Alvarez. The first thing I did was put light strings on it to lighten the burden on my finger tips. I wanted an electric acoustic for recording purposes and a built in tuner. Ive really only experienced two problems with my Alvarez. 1. It doesnt like to stay in tune. My chinese guitar which I leave in my car for practicing at a local park stays in tune much better, despite my ill handling of it. Ive changed strings to no avail. 2. The second issue I have with it is fret buzzing on the high E string second fret. Ive attempted to adjust the neck rod but it seems like it's in there pretty tight and I was afraid to put muscle into turning it. Instead, Ive taken a little piece of paper underneath the bridge to raise the high E string up. I will say this, my cheap chinese guitar I bought on Ebay does give the Alvarez a run for it's money. Having the right strings plays a major role in the overall sound. For the money, the Alvarez is not a bad guitar and I was happy to hear you gave it a good review. Btw, I am two years into playing guitar at the time of this posting and my skills have grown past that Am chord from the Rolling Stones Angie.

Why does it seem like all demos I see on strats that no one ever really hits that hi E string. Maybe because they can't get it right at the factory without that annoying buzz and hi tone

I snagged the last one Guitar Center, in all of the U.S., had in stock the moment I saw the Alamo Music review in October. I had a feeling they would sell out (and are still not available in December) being extremely popular. I absolutely love it. It puts a lot of fun into playing and into the world of acoustic which I love. Yeah, you need this even if you own Martin’s, Gibson’s and Taylor’s as I do.

I agree that the bridge plus neck on the ultra I sounds better.

Ultra I more bright and ultra İi more midrange. Both sound good but in the end I believe it's how they feel in your hand.

IDK if it’s a “feature” of this model, but acoustically, it sounds very “flat”. I was thinking that it may be due to the effects they add, so it acts like a flat response speaker in a recording studio would, not “coloring” the effects? I own the LS-TA, and acoustically, it sounds much “better” to me. I was expecting more punch and oomph, with this being a larger bodied guitar than the LS-TA. The TAG3 seems like it’s got a quacky low-mid thing going on (I actually heard the first part of the demo and wasn’t looking, and thought you had it plugged in using a piezo). Also, the lows also aren’t that pronounced. It sounds good, but it seems lacking in some way that I can’t pinpoint exactly. The sustain is wonderful, though. Like I said, this may be on purpose to not color the effect experience, but that’s only my own opinion. I really love Yamaha acoustics.

My wife just surprised me with this guitar for Christmas. I’m in love with the feel of the beveled edges and the tone. This thing is a piece of art

I've been playing for a couple years now and I was shopping around for a quality guitar. I was looking at Taylor's, Martins and Breed love guitars. One day I went to music store and played a few guitars including the Alvarez AG66CESHB and it felt good, I loved the sound. I was gonna buy it right then and there but I decided to wait. I kept thinking about how good the tone was and I went to work, still thinking about the Alvarez and I had to go play it again after work. The same guitar was still there, I played it for 20 minutes and I had to have it, I left with it. Took it to the luthier and had it set up and I absolutely love it, awesome guitar for the money.

I like the sound of the Ultra 2 better. It perhaps sounds more tight and compressed to me.

I've seen a few in the past months. Like them a lot. But no one can tell me if and when if a OM will be available. Sounds great!

Destiny rang-out last night when I heard a Dreadnaught playing in the distance. Convinced it had to be a big named expensive acoustic-electric guitar my jaw dropped as some carolers invited me to join along and the headstock came into view. Yamaha. Great review/ demo! Comparing this axe to Yamaha's CSF-TA and I found a winner! Catch me in the Parlor.

Yamaha Guitars are constantly pushing the boundaries on what is possible. I can't wait to see these effects in the L Series.

I saw Paul Davids video on this guitar like a month ago, I just bite the dust and ordered it! Which was feat in it self, because you can't really find it in stock anywhere... Anyway I looked through the whole of Europe and found one in Italy, ordered and got it! How do you deal with feedback on distortion/overdrive? I´ve got original T5 and yes, it is hollow-body but wonder anyway- what are the ways of reducing feedback in T5 case

The p90s are stacked to cancel hum so the tonality is somewhere between a humbucker and p90.
