Big hello from Northern Ireland (UK) ! I am a former worship leader and guitar player in a praise and worship band. In my day Gretsch guitars were out of my price range and would set you back £1000 in the UK. I used to play a US Strat and a Takamine. I am now an old Presbyterian preacher and I set my guitar aside for a pulpit. I do play with our worship team on special events though. I now own four Gretsch guitars. I did what you did with one of my G54 Streamliners, I gradually bought a set of filter tron pickups silver, pick guard, Chinese Gretsch Chrome knobs etc. My Streamliner is now upgraded to a £800- £900 Gretsch. I hope that you enjoy your guitar and use it to bless many people. God bless, Oz
Thank you so much for the reply. I have been eyeballing one of these streamliners as well. I’ve been playing this one for a few months now and I really liked it and I think I want to get another Gretsch but that might be a project for a later time. Thank you for the kind words and God bless.
How much did you invest in that? For under $330 ($599 list) you could have bought a Gretsch Jet Two G5210-P90 w/a couple of good P90s, a real (licensed) Bigsby, and a set neck instead of a bolt on. The only thing missing would have been the locking tuners, which is an easy upgrade. I think overall, you would have saved some $$
The entire project ran about $300. I’m not the biggest fan of p-90s so that one didn’t appeal to me tbh. I was more going for the look of the Penguins or the Duo Jets. Thanks for the suggestion though. If you make a video about the G5210-P90 let me know so I can check it out!
