    I ordered the compact table and servo motor 6 days ago. It arrived yesterday and thanks to the Sailrite video with clear and concise instructions the setup was very easy. I am thrilled with the new setup as it saves me a lot of space and the table is very solid. The slow speed control will be awesome. I should have payed more attention to this video on the speed as it clearly states that the motor will be shipped with a top speed of 30. I wanted a little faster and thought the servo motor was to go to 45. A quick email to customer service and i received instructions on how to change to top end speed of the servo motor. It took almost 45 seconds to adjust. I still consider the machine as a portable. I can simply remove the machine from the table and carry it in the case. The table with the servo motor installed is light enough to easily transport and it will fit in the back seat of my truck. Happy, Happy, Happy

Thanks for the video I had watched it several times before my machine came and was ready to sew once I got it all together...sews through leather like butter and the slow speed is unreal...wonderful stitches! @@Hawk74 Hi Bob! The _"geared reducer assembly"_ should already be on the right side of your *LSZ-1* Model. Wondered if you actually meant the cool new *Servo* *Motor* (that can creep in slow motion) underneath this video mentioned Sailrite Leatherwork Model? If you haven't already purchased Sailrite's heavy duty *"Monster Wheel"* , I highly recommend it to _"Hot Rod"_ your LSZ-1 up a bit. The sheer weight of that Monster Wheel combined with your existing reduction gear assembly and my personal fav 135x17 125/20 "nail" needle choice will greatly help you punch thru any "telas" you dare to sew. I have the LS1 and love it. But I would greatly prefer the leatherwork sewing machine just for the awesome color of that machine. The only thing I dont like about the LS1 is the color. No worries. I am planning on purchasing the new compact table and servo motor that you just came out with. It's already in my cart. Just waiting for a sale of free shipping. Sorry for being cheap but retirement income is very limited. As always, I appreciate the great videos. I have broken several things on my LS1, but all were due to operator error and the great customer service from Sailrite not only made it east to order replacement parts but also provided great videos for the replacement of the parts and adjustment to the machine. the timing is critical and also easy to adjust with the videos from Sailrite. I see a lot of comments from folks on the users forum that I subscribe to, where people complain about needing to make adjustments to the machine. My standard comment is that as you start to use a very strong mechanical machine you will likely do things that cause damage. Fortunately all the assistance you might need is made available. Every industrial type of equipment requires maintenance, repair and adjustment. Companies that have lots of equipment typically have full time employees to maintain their equipment. The alternative is to buy consumer grade tools that will likely require no maintenance. However they will typically not even be capable of the desired performance and when something breaks the tool must be replaced. Here is a comment on the great customer service of sailrite. I was using one of the Sailrite fabric calculators, I found a small issue with the calculator, I put in a call to Sailrite and was able to talk to Matt Grant. He thanked me for the info and had the calculator fixed within a few minutes. Awesome customer service that is greatly appreciated.

      We are very thankful for your kind comments and assessment of a heavy duty sewing machine, you are totally correct.
      Regarding Promotions at Sailrite - We have not had any promotions or free shipping since Covid started over a year ago. We are fully staffed, but still cannot keep up with the current order volume (even working on some Saturdays to ship orders). If we had promotions it would take weeks for orders to ship, as we would be overrun with orders. Also, we are running short on supplies from manufactures which makes it difficult to run sales on our already low inventory levels. I am sorry, but hope you understand why you may not see a promotion until things improve.

      @@SailriteDIY thank you very much for the information. I will be ordering the new compact table and servo motor later today. The compact table will serve my limited space needs very well. I have been challenged. I am having a problem with putting on the belt cover. I've watched the video several times and I seem to not see how to install it. Help! I don't seem to find it in the book either. I am not a mechanic. I did need my big brother to help me with a few things.

    • @SailriteDIY
      @SailriteDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cover takes two screws and sometimes it can be difficult to start them in the threaded holes. I usually use a magnetic screw driver which helps hold the screw to the end of the screw driver. If you don't have one just take a regular screw driver and rub a magnet on the end of it several times, this will magnetize the screw driver end. If that does not help please email: support@sailrite.com for more help.

    Will the leatherwork sewing machine also work on multi layered denims and whatnot? I'm thinking of maybe just purchasing the Leatherwork machine, instead of the LSZ1, if the leatherwork machine can also do the jobs of the LSZ1. Most of what I sew is Nylon material, not too thick of leather, layers of denim, etc. I sew up custom work pants, nylon accessories for my firearms, and leather holsters and knife sheathes, as well as work suspenders. The Holsters and Knife Sheathes aren't made with thick leathers, because I use material backings for more strength.

    • @SailriteDIY
      @SailriteDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes the leatherwork sewing machine can sew denim and canvas type fabrics easily. However, I do recommend switching the presser foot and feed dog to the sawtooth version for better gripping of the fabric. Here are links to those parts: www.sailrite.com/Outer-Foot-for-Ultrafeed-LS-1 and www.sailrite.com/Feed-Dog-for-Ultrafeed-LS-1-Straight-Stitch-Sewing-Machine with that said the leather feet and feed dog may also feed that denim fabric well, so you may not need the sawtooth feet and feed dog. You would have to determine if the standard feet and feed dog work well enough or if you need more pulling power.

      @@SailriteDIY Thank you so much for your reply. After considering my options, I think I might just save up a few more dollars and purchase your Sailrite Fabricator. I’m struggling between buying this machine or buying the fabricator? I do bags totes purses holsters cowboy belts and high end ladies bags wallets etc. How thick and how thin of leather can this machine handle vs the fabricator? Sounds silly I love the look of the fabricator I am Just not sure what to do….

    • @SailriteDIY
      @SailriteDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I had my choice between the two and had the space for a larger sewing machine table, I would pick the Fabricator over the Leatherwork for leather sewing. It (the Fabricator) is a compound walking foot machine which feeds leather slightly better than a walking foot sewing machine. Why? A compound walking foot works by having the needle enters the assembly and moves back as the feed dog and center foot pulls the assembly to create a stitch. This helps to maintain a consistent stitch length. A walking foot sewing machine, like the Leatherwork, has the outer feet and feed dog pull the assembly, with the needle out of the assembly. The center foot raises and lowers to allow the assembly to move. It feeds well, but not as consistently as a compound walking foot. Both will work very well, but the Fabricator is the slightly better choice, in my opinion. For more on this topic click here: www.sailrite.com/Which-Sewing-Machine-is-Right-for-Me

      Aawww... You, my friend are mistaken about #Sailrite . They take excellent pride in tooling their portable walking foot machines from the *ground* *up* , especially with the inside internal working parts. Their faux walking foot competitors like Alpha Sew, Tuff, Rex, Reliable, and others possess maleable metal parts so soft you could _"mind bend"_ them with your eyeballs. Pretty much only Consew's little portable walking foot and the original & first *Thompson* Portable Walking Foot unit come even close. *Sailrite* is always pushing the envelope on Quality with their Portable line of Walking Foot Machines. Originally used by *Sailboat* *Enthusiasts* (who sometimes have no access to electricity) who simply hand crank their secure stitches onto heavy sail canvas. I #DesignerTJP find the *Sailrite* *LSZ-1* (zig zag) Portable Walking Foot Unit perfect for Movie On-Set Location Super Hero Costume Fabrication. Their machine is plenty powerful, reliable, and durable enough to _"punch thru"_ vinyls, neoprene rubber, and foam mesh netting, often seen on Sci-Fi Creatures and Heroes while working under extreme pressure to deliver at the last moment on a shoot. Many of Sailrite's Machines use the same High Power *Industrial* *Needles* (and not the flat head needles Grandmothers buy for their home machines at JoAnn Fabrics) my (Consew 227R-2 Tabletop Model at home) does. I don't beleive Sailrite will ever show you all their top secret inner working & presser foot improvements. There's too many knock-off sewing machine companies, around the world, just waiting for that video.
