  • Step by step instruction for how to replace the pilot assembly on a 500DVBLPSC7 Majestic Direct Vent Propane Fireplace.
The old majestic part number that I bought was P/N 80D0007. It appears this has been replaced with another part (20308982) but I can't speak to the exact wire and tube configuration.

Adding some notes for the common good. This video is a great example when you have the "Signature Control System" ignition type fireplace (his orange "I" plug) versus the more standard, and much cheaper, ignition wire that is a single (often black) wire with a round tube connector. I ordered a cheaper ~$70-90 version without realizing this and had to return it for a more expense "Signature Control System" compatible version which was more like $160. Lesson learned.

Can you please send me a link to the appropriate product on Amazon? I also ordered the wrong one and need one with the S and I wires.

Great video! My fireplace isn’t working and someone told me it’s because of the fire sensor being too far away. I think ordering a new pilot assembly is the way to go. Did you put the fire barrier wherever it was on the old assembly? Secondly, do you know what fire resistant paint is needed to paint the inside of the fireplace?

Hi Jeff, I did use the fire barrier caulk where it was on the old assembly. As far as paint is concerned you can get some high temp spray paint, although I'm not sure I used it when I installed the new pilot assembly.

@@rushtactics1135 thank you for the reply! I found a place where they sell this assembly but the sensor looks to be exact same. I’m wondering even changing it out will help :(

Thanks for adding the video. You skips over the removal and installation parts I needed to see.

Thanks for the video! Can you send me a link to the part you purchased? I seem to have bought the wrong type that doesn't have the S and I wires.

I was hoping to see how you reconnected the GAS line on this project. I have yet to pull mine apart and I'm not sure how involved it is and was hoping to watch someone...

At right around the 2 minute mark, the video shows the fitting that needs to be disconnected from the gas valve assembly. A box wrench should work just fine. Important: Just be sure you close the local gas valve to shut off the gas supply before disconnecting this assembly.

@@rushtactics1135 do you need to coat the propane line threads with anything like pipe dope or tape? Thanks

    • @rushtactics1135

@@jayf803 Its not NPT, rather more like a Swagelok fitting so I don't think PTFE thread sealant is necessary, but a small amount probably couldn't hurt.

I am curious about the pilot light... after the burner is lit... should pilot assembly pilot light turn off or does it remain lit during the entire time the fireplace is burning..?
I'm having an issue and am trying to troubleshoot.
