Hello, ONLY today came a cross some off your videos, by the way great information. I want to ask you if it is possible to put a dub spindle on a non dub cranks ?? Thanks and best regards.
BWC, really super video you did. Can you clarify a few things? a)Do you know which SRAM Dub or BB30 crankarms are bonded to NDside spindle & not removeable? (Ex. are all Eagles bonded or just XX1/XX0, etc. I know GXP is bonded, just trying to better clarify which models the Spindle is removeable.) b)With these SRAM cranks (NDS & DS) - am I understanding correctly, both sides can take 30mm Spindles or Dub Spindles? Probably dumb of me to ask, but I wasn't 100% clear if only one side's interface can be interchanged (ie DS, but not NDS), thanks so much for any time you have to clarifying these things! PS liked seeing the Assioma's ;)
Thanks Aaron! All Dub spindles are bonded so it won't work with the dub spindles. Both DS and NDS have the same BB30 interface which is nice. As far as which models, really any model that has a bolt on the NDS is removable. Its really just the models that have PF30 printed on the black spindle that are removable. Just some extra info, you can put a Race Face crank arm on one side and a sram on the other if you for some reason broke a crank arm. Cannondale you cannot do this because the BB30 interface is clocked a little off so it will go on the spindle but one crank will be at 12 o clock and the other at like 5 o clock. Yeah the Assiomas were awesome until I broke them :( I was doing some rough MTB riding with them and killed them. My fault completely.
Thank you for watching. I hope you have found this video beneficial. If you have done this modification, what was your experience, or do you have any questions for me? Love to hear feedback and questions.
Just to be sure.... so if I buy a DUB crankset, I can remove the spindle, install a PF30 spindle and use with a PF30 bottom bracket? If yes, does the same goes for a CINCH/RaceFace crankset? Thanks for the video!!
Road pf30 is 118mm and MTB pf30 is 114 . The mtb pf30 spindles are narrower than the road option. They use the bend in the crank arm to make them wider to clear the mtb frame. Those measurements are with the arms removed and measured end to end.
Hola , en unas bielas x0 con eje bb30 largo, ¿ se podría cambiar el eje para caja de pedalier bb92 por uno de la marca Race face cinch 30 ? y de ser posible ¿ que largo se necesita para bb92 ?. Un saludo.
This is great thanks for sharing! I can't find anywhere else that posts the spindle lengths for Sram bb30/pf30/bb386/... I'm trying to fit some Sram Red 22 road cranks on a BSA frame. I know the Force 22 spindle is long enough to fit BSA BB with external cups. But I suspect the Wide (which i think is called BB386) version of the Sram Red 22 crankset (the one with removable spider) has the same spindle length as the Force. Have you encountered that or know if those spindles are the same length?
Thanks for the question. The short black spindle is 115mm (came off the mtb crank) and the longer black spindle is 118mm (Came off the road crank). Is that the info you were looking for? Thanks again for watching.
Man! You answered so many of my questions! I'm on the market looking for a cheap used carbon crankset, so my question is: you did that spindle swap, to be able to fit a road crankset on a mountain bike, right?
@@BlackWaterCyclist Awesome! Last question, how do I start from scratch? I have this old sram XO crankset, but I lost the spindle, and I want to install in in a new frame, which measurements and dimensionas should I consider to get the correct 30mm spindle?
Could I please ask for some advice. I bought a second hand Sram Force 2 crank a Praxis Buzz ring and Dub BSA BB. I discovered that it is only for press fit. How could I size the required spindle for my shell?
Hi, sorry this is a bit late, but I have recently snapped my sram truvativ xo crank on my dh bike and I bought a new mtb crankset but the spindle is for a normal mountain bike and is to small to fit on to my dh bike bottom bracket. As I have seen in this video I can remove both of the spindles and swap it will this work as it’s both mtb cranks worth the bend
Actually the dub spindles are 28.99mm. all of the dub crank sets have the spindle permanently bonded on the left crank arm so you can't swap the spindles. Also the gxp are permanently bonded as well to the left crank arm. I hope that helps.
Does this really work on the newer kind of sram dub cranks? It seems like the non drive side is just pressed on and not screwed like on the older ones unfortunately. 😢
Hi Alfonso, thanks for watching. Unfortunately the GXP spindle is not removable so you cannot do the same as you can with the 30mm spindles. Almost all 30mm spindles have the same interface for the crankarms from Sram to cdale to raceface/Easton. One company that is different is Rotor. I hope that helps.
Love your hacks! I noticed you mentioned the crank needs to have a removable spider. I have a Red 22 crankset that I wanted to put a longer spindle on. It has an integrated spider. Is there any reason that shouldn't work. Thanks!
Several companies make them. Raceface, rotor, wheels manufacturing all make them as well as a few others. If you Google "30mm threaded bottom bracket", you should see several. Let me know if you don't find any. Thanks for watching.
@@BlackWaterCyclist unfortunately there arent much selection here in new zealand and from there are no one decent to talk to about what i need when i called my LBS. i have seen this www.evocycles.co.nz/Product/245410/race-face-bsa-cinch-30mm-bottom-brackets but no one can confirm if it would work for what i need. i hope you could help. thanks

Just what I need. I have a perfectly good Sram red Crankset that I would like to reuse for my new road bike. It has a bsa bb what spindle length do I need to make it work. I know Easton makes bsa 30 bb
You should be able to use the regular 30mm spindle unless it is the older super skinny spindle of the bb30 days. If it is the super skinny spindle then it is not removable. Otherwise you just need to buy the BSA 30mm bottom bracket to make it work with your frame.
What size bottom bracket do you have? I currently have a wheels manufacturing BSA 73mm that converts my threaded bb to a 30mm. Could I run an easton 129mm spindle and be alright? My bike is non boost 142 and I have the sram s900 series road cranks you used in the video.
I think you would be fine with the Easton 129mm spindle. The race Face is only 5mm wider and I have more than enough room on my boost anthem for 2.5mm on each side of my chainstays.
I need your advice please ! I have a 92mm frame shell and i have a dub crankset with a bb sram pressfit 89/92mtb, so i want to use an Sram Xx1 bb30 crankset but the spindle is too short for the 92mm shell, do you know which spindle length do i need to buy ? Hi Rodrigo, Sram actually made two different spindle links for BB30 mtb. Surprising the BB30 MTB spindle is shorter than the Road Spindle. If you could find a Sram Road 30mm Spindle, it would be wide enough but not so wide that is makes your Q factor too wide. I would go for something around 130mm wide. Easton has the EC90 Road SPindle which is 129mm which would be perfect. The Race Face shortest spindle is 134mm. I just measured my MTB BB30 and it is 115mm wide. The Road Spindle is 120mm wide. SO if you can find something between 120 and 130, I think you will be in business.

@@efrenm8826 ok so you have a few options. The DUB spindle is stuck with the left side crankarm. It is one piece.
