What brilliant era for Offaly ,, 17 years earlier Offaly appeared in the Leinster Senior Hurling Final .Kilkenny won 3.09 to 0.16 and won the All Ireland . We then waited 11 years ,to appear in the Leinster final ,and what an era for Offaly ,won their first Leinster title beating Kilkenny ,3.17 to 5.10, won the All Ireland in 1981 for the first time and in 1985 ,won the senior All Ireland ,Then won 3 minor All Irelands ,beating Munster Teams in them all . Tremendous heart ,tremendous achievement by a small county .. Outside of Kilkenny(!Ballyhale ) ,Galway(Portumna) ,not too many counties in Ireland have clubs that have won four hurling club all ireland
