As long as it was closed in good status it positively affects your credit for 7 or 10 years forgot what it was. But for if closing too many accounts in a certain time frame affects it im not sure
I recently canceled both the Platinum and Gold Amex cards after they raised af's and are getting rid of free guest option in Centurion lounges. Pretty much the only reason I kept Platinum as long as I did. I shop primarily at Wholefoods and Costco so Amex gold is nearly worthless. Chase Sapphire and Ink with the Amazon card convert so much better than Amex points and provide so much more value. Suprised to see you downgrading your Sapphire and sticking with platinum.

Were planning a destination wedding so i got the chase preffered & amex gold for all purchases for the wedding. Right now just 6-8 months in including the welcome bonuses & points on our airline cards were looking at paying for at least one of our flights & should be able to pay for a week of stay at a lower tier hyatt hotel for my FIL during the stay. We also use it for some regular purchases, but still. The point value for both of these are way too good to not use. Thanks to u and a few other tubers i was able to figure out how to make our wedding purchases work for us.

I would not have gotten rid of the Sapphire Reserve since you get the 1.5x bobus for transferring points from another Chase card to this one. I make well over $250 in points per year doing this making the annual fee totally worth it. The Amex Gold is a very good card but not as good as the Chase Tri/Quad/Quintefca
If you use the portal, that is the key thing, after a few years of using it, I found myself not booking this way anymore, just transferring out to airlines and hotels, so I downgraded it, and kept the Ink preferred which has all the same transfer partners

How many secured cards should I get bid dog to start building my credit I have to now but thinking on a third and maybe self lender I don't have a trans union score yet it takes six months I guess. I am thinking of getting one more card that graduates but I don't know if I should stick with discover it sec and capital one platinum secured and wait until I have more credit history and get the rest just better non secure cards?

Why do you use that AMEX gold card with only 4% on dining and 4% on gas when your Hilton card has 6% on dining and 6% on gas. The Wyndham has 8% on gas
Amex points when transferred to airlines can be easily redeemed for 1.5-2¢ per point, bringing the equivalent cash value of 4x to 6%-8%. Hilton points are typically worth roughly half a cent per point, similarly bringing the 6x down to 3%. In my experience, Wyndham points are worth about 1-1.2¢ per point, so 8%-9.6% for gas is a very valid consideration. The main negative with Wyndham is that most of their properties aren't very nice or aspirational, so the points aren't quite as useful or flexible as Amex points. The status hackery alone makes the card more than worth holding, however (that's the key to many hotel cards actually - many are worth holding even if you never use them). Hope that helps!

I just got denied the Alaska card, pretty annoying since I have the Amex Plat, CSR, Amex Gold and the freedom/Amazon cards. Too many hard pulls on my credit report, boo. High income/ good credit score too.
You dont need to. For example i have BA bronze, which is OneWorld Ruby. I can show up at AA check in and go into the priority line, give them my BA number and they will waive baggage fees on US domestic flights. So there is no transferring, you can just use your BA number on AA, or the other way round

Not if you are getting a welcome bonus. For the gold i had to spend $10,000 for 90k points. So i spent $21,000 and got 90k + 21k = 111,000 (value over $2000 when using to book business class air tickets). Fee was 2%, ($420) so $2000 - $420 is $1580 profit

Funny thing is I had good credit years ago and decided to pay all my cards off and never used credit for 17 years now I am rebuilding my credit lol so far discover it card secured and capital one secured put 1000 down on the discover it and 500 on capital one platinum secured funny years ago I made a lot of fast cash working a side job that was not all legal and was a construction worker and decided to pay off all my cards and throw them away lol.

BA is 100k off peak and 120k peak. Iberia is 64k round trip off peak. These are US east coast by the way, west coast to europe will be more

Not if you are getting a welcome bonus. For the gold i had to spend $10,000 for 90k points. So i spent $21,000 and got 90k + 21k = 111,000 (value over $2000 when using to book business class air tickets). Fee was 2%, ($420) so $2000 - $420 is $1580 profit

Funny thing is I had good credit years ago and decided to pay all my cards off and never used credit for 17 years now I am rebuilding my credit lol so far discover it card secured and capital one secured put 1000 down on the discover it and 500 on capital one platinum secured funny years ago I made a lot of fast cash working a side job that was not all legal and was a construction worker and decided to pay off all my cards and throw them away lol.
