@interactivevideos10 That is the correct formula for slope. He just used the 1st point at (x1, y1) As long as you start at the same point for the numerator and denominator, it doesn't matter what point you start with. You will get the same answer for the slope. Hope this helps.
Sure. If that was all there was, then you would be correct. When finding slope, it is the difference in the y values divided by the difference in the x values. Take two points (5, 2) and (7, 9) and let's find the slope. You can do (2-9)/(5-7) and you get -7/-2 = 7/2 or (9-2)/(7-5) = 7/2 You see that you will get the same answer either way. What you need to remember is to always start at the same point when subtracting the ys and when subtracting the xs. Hope this helps.
In the last question f (-7) = -5 and f (3) = -4 , you got wrong the point-slope from . If the slope-intercept is (-4) - 5 / 3 - (-7) ''changing Y over changing X'' .Y2 is -4 and Y1 is 5.
I got aroused and had a hard on learning this, so much trouble understanding the point-slope form and it ended being so easy, thanks khanacademey this is, as Katt Williams would express it: "this is the shiiit!".
What?! how does that give you the same answer though? If you used y2-y1 you'd get 25-12=13 and if you did it the other way 12-25 you'd -13..:s how is that the same theres a different integer?? Can you explain?
you take an hour lesson and make into a simple 10 minute lesson thank you
I never really pay attention in Math Class, so I just watch the Khan academy videos at home. #thepoweroftheinternet
I'm cramming before the keystones and I'm trying to watch as many videos as possible. Thanks for all the help!!!
Math was fun before they added letters
Yh
Agrees, but dont say (ANSWERED LATE AFTER 3 YEARS)
totes
It's only human to make mistakes. You still are a great teacher Khan!
i just to be sure that yiu figure the mistake by switching value x and y
thanks i didn't know what to do till i watched you🙂
I like khan academy! It has helped me a lot and I think that it is a great way to learn.

this helped me a lot on my algebra homework. Thank You

bless u thank u hopefully I don't fail my quiz now
omg so much easier than i thought! thank you so much!
yeah that what i thought, i was like whaaat now im confused but your comment added some reassurance
You mixed up the y sub 2 and x sub 2 values in the last answer.
9:00 you make a big mistake, you confuse 3 that is "x" and use it like "y"
It made sense before you told me how it made sense ^__^ haha. Thank you so much for uploading, I'm studying for exams!
Great video keep up the good work
Thank you sooooo much this helped a lot!!!
thank you!!
6:18 you can pick any number for X
YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!
F(x) is just another term for y. It also means the function of x which is y.
You are not confusing at allllll :)
Thank you so much sir.

ahm. Are you sure about the last answer? because the y was subtracted with 3 which is the x-sub 1
I love math...
Thank you so much
Thank you!
There is an error in the first problem. you wrote (y-2)=-1/10(x-1) when it should have been (y-2)=-1/10(x-10) because of the coordinates being (10,2)
do you pick any corrdinate for point slope equation
In reply to Alesia Alesia, f (x) simply means function of x.
I got aroused and had a hard on learning this, so much trouble understanding the point-slope form and it ended being so easy, thanks khanacademey this is, as Katt Williams would express it: "this is the shiiit!".
i got a "D" in algebra and after watching these videos i took algebra 2 and got a 97%
I don't get what he meant at 9:39
It's the same thing as y. If you get something that says f(x) = what ever, it's the same as y = whatever.
Help! What if i have one saying : crossing the x axis at x = -2 and the y axis at y = 1
I paid for an online math class, and all they do is send me to watch Khan Academy!!! I'm getting a refund.

helpful indeed
He made a mistake. Other than that all the videos are saving me in Algebra.
Really?? Is that it? I've been nosebleeding on our class and thats it?? 2:02
Please can someone remind me what f (x) means??? Thanks
the answer for the last question in this video is wrong. Khan you got the x and y mixed up. it's suppose to be (y+4)=(-9/10)(x-3). Thanks!
f (x) is the same thing as saying y.
why didn't he pick 3 and -4 instead of -7 and 5??????
Oh.
I khan't function
Someone reply to this in 1 year
no
@@CharlieWoodard-i1m :)
9:38 god no way i am going to watch a 9:38 method
Still doesn't make any goddamn sense.
This is one of the worst I've ever seen
