I have made an overlay mp4 file in wondershare filmora with a black middle part which I would like to be replaced by my game caprure source in OBS... is there a way to make the black middle part transparent before adding it to OBS??? I know that I could just drag the game source above the overlay source in OBS but the results aint perfect coz it would cover a small part of the overlay source or if I would make the game source smaller it would leave a bit of the black on the sides... "append" might not be the best way to describe it either. What happens is that it copies the new files into the directory. If those files are in a directory, it will either create that directory if it doesn't already exist or copy them into the directory of the same name if they do exist. Likewise, if those files already exist, they will overwrite them, but if they don't they simply create them (adding them to the existing directory or subdirectory as noted above). So, in first time installs, you're creating those files. In subsequent installs, you're overwriting the existing files (but only those of the same names as the files you're copying).

When I go to that website and go to download the file it is different to the files you have downloaded, and I am not sure why. When I activate the background removal tool it just changes to a color and does not pick me up at all.
The native zoom background is the best i found ...you can upload your own picture or video and the quality is very high...it sticks to your body...even your fingers ...almost no lag.

Hey Scott I've been doing a lot of stuff with OBS studio for a few years now but I've always had a problem with lighting I've got LED lights I've got old standing floor lamps I've tried every trick I could think of when using Chroma Key no I haven't actually at this point watch the whole video yet in fact I've only seen two minutes of this video is there a way to with what I have in existence four LED lights floor lamps to make what you're talking about work can it be done because honestly every time I turn around I have to adjust the Chroma Key because of the lighting problems hope I get a reply because quite frankly you know more about OBS than I do thanks for the videos I have subscribed I just hope this trick about video background remover plugins for OBS you know the tips I might have missed will help me out a little bit at least do you have any suggestions I would be name is George by the way and help please...?
I have a very basic question. I am putting on a live preshow for an event and I have a broadcasting desk with a 55" tv inset in the front of the desk. Is there a way to plug my computer in to the tv via hdmi and run OBS in studio mode and only see what is playing on the program side while I'm working on the preview side? I don't want the tv to mirror my MacBook Pro. I don't want the audience to see me working.Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I think what you asking is how do you remove the background of a premade video? For example if a cat is walking on a path in the woods you want to remove the woods background from the video. Is that what your looking for?
@4:11 - I think your terminology is confused. It is actually "Overwriting" the data and not "Appending". The thing is that when pasting it will only "Overwrite" **files** that are named the same. If a folder is named the same then it technically is "Overwriting" the folder it just isn't "Overwriting" the **contents** of the folder. The original folder "name" gets overwritten with the new "folder name" which is Identical so it seems like nothing happens. This is what a computer "overwrite" normally is. If there are no existing **files** with the same name then it will do a "Copy" since there is no matching file names to "overwrite" in the first place. It has nothing to do with the "program files" folder - this is the normal/default operation at least in Windows. Test it with a folder in your Documents folder and you'll see it works the same. Appending refers to files themselves not folders. If you append a file that means adding more to the end, like opening a text file adding another paragraph, and save. That would be an append.

I have a question which is quite broad...Simply, my measured download speed is hanging around 310mbps, upload speed 45-50mbps...Great ! under normal browser usage etc. However, when I boot up OBS (and I'm not streaming or recording at this point) my download speed drops to around 125mbps...Only happens with OBS. currently running OBS 27 RC3, however this happened with previous versions also...Any insights? Is this a meta reference to @1:31? lolz If it's not - it can be many reasons. That bandwidth test - we need to know more about how you got those numbers. Most likely your 310Mbps test is the speed from you to your ISP while the 50Mbps is speed to the twitch/YT/video server. It's kind of like you are asking why you can travel at 100Kph on the main road by your house but only 25Kph when driving through the parking lot at your local store. Either way, 50Mbps is enough, Twitch has a maximum of 8Mbps and you have 50Mbps so you are fine.
sorry just wonder with ur problem, are using Cable or wireless connection? because Im using wireless connection in my home...recently im have the same trouble just like u did when im running OBS my internet speed drops.....(when obs running im using 2 camera from android phone for my scene that connect to OBS using IP addresses via my router......) but now i have solved the problem. Turns out my router wifi radio channel is blocking my wireless internet....i have to try n find the correct radio channel for IP CAMERA to OBS until the internet speed normal....may be you have typicaly the same problem with me??
Hi Folks, appreciate your inputs! Technically, I'm supposed to be getting 1Gb drown and 50mbps up. The 310mbps I mention is the average speed having used 3 different test platforms over a range of ISPs. I don't have an issue with upload speed, plenty of 'headroom' for my work. I use Zoom and MS Teams for my lecturing, uploading my edited lectures to my TH-cam Channel. I'm hardwired Ethernet only. I can accept that there is contention/shared capacity on downloading. However, only when I boot up OBS does my speed drop more than half ( 125-130 mbps) Also, I'm not doing anything on OBS just boot up then test internet speed, even after using for a while then another test, same lows result...once once terminated the program speed goes back up to ~290-300mbps...A curious one!

Hi bro got major problem i installed oBS and added a plugin to set background removal t oobs C disk,.but when i add filter on saucre video capture and choose background removal i get black screen only not seeing me but mine camera 4k works no picture of me onlyu black screen,please help?
This is most likely a graphics card driver issue. Check to make sure your drivers are up to date.. The black screen of death is not a uncommon issue with OBS.
Love your attitude and your willingness to help I've not watched the whole video yet but I'm sure it's going to be great but you showed us you copied two folders data I can't remember the other one. But you didn't I show us exactly where you pasted it are you pasting both of those folders that you copied into the data folder in OBS programs
Well I tested it too, That wavy background color is not gonna work for me. It is not exceptable at all. I have already greenscreen so I try to go with that.
hey im using the same plugin the same way you said but i get a 80% cpu usage! and i know its because of the pluging because when i turn it off everything is normal i dont know how to fix it and no one is talking about it so pls help me im sure there are other people strugeling with this problem :(
I hate that things don't work the same as tutorials teach after they update the program a few times. Now the filter goes to the lower section of filters. not audio/video

Hey Scott, Royshilkrot has done some major upgrades. Easy installers and added a light enhancing plugin. I'm still working on getting it to achieve it's purpose on my mac, but he brought someone else on board and is constantly upgrading it. I already downloaded and have this software on my PC in regards to the Background removal tool for OBS. You're explanation helped me tweak my limited settings until the developer makes changes to the last setting you mentioned. What setting? The feathering I believe that crashes the programs for most.
I am loving all your videos. I am looking though them all. Still don't know if you have one on what I am looking for. But keep up the work.. What I am look for is some way to show the current track playing when using the VLC Video Playlist for music or videos.

same here. I restarted PC multiple times, restarted OBS multiple times. Uninstalled OBS 2 times and started everything from scratch. The background removal just doesn't show up in the filter after adding the webcam.
Hey Scott. I had many problems installing this software for months and I mentioned all of it to you (Thank You for listening.), but I got it working. It does crash, but if I'm persistent I can get a good amount of time to use it for a little fun and experimentation. I have a Mac and adjusting "smooth silhouette" doesn't crash it, but choosing "Robust Video Matting" does. It's too bad because they are mentioning that as the best option. I can leave BR installed, with "Scene Collection Manager" I am able to start a brand new opening page where my other scenes are in memory and it appears that BR is not acknowledged to crash it. This is great because I plan to use it for teaching private on-line instrument lessons. I have a green screen I plan to try, but will take a while to set up and I wonder if more even lighting will help too. Yes,I do remember you mentioning more options (LOL) and I knew for a long time that OBS can go through Zoom , but I plan to keep at this software in hopes that one day it will have an update that will work! It might be because I took the installation on as a challenge and I figured it out without any help! Thanks so much my friend!
@@ScottFichter Yes, I get your point my friend. LOL. CPU 3.9% without BR and with BR 28.2%. with just a few light source things. This time it crashed. LOL. I most likely won't use it until it is perfected or if I make a recorded video, but it's always fun to fire it up. As I mentioned before, I installed it as a non-programmer with a lot of head scratching attempts and crashes, so I earned the right to play around with it. LOL. Thanks!
@@ScottFichter Yes, I agree, but if memory serves me I don't think "Shader Filter" is available for the Mac though. The exception is anything Exeldro creates you can take it to the bank!
Hey Scott, I decided to uninstall Background Remover from OBS in my Mac, because it appeared that it got in the way of the built in Virtual Cam. Everytime I selected it nothing happens. I would have kept it, but I plan on doing virtual lessons via zoom and the built in virtual camera is the only way to get it through the zoom lens. BR by Shilkrot is a great idea. I hope someday when the bugs are fixed and that it becomes stock in OBS, but for now I am using the one zoom offers! Thanks!

But in my obs Filter there's no option "Background Remover" at all, like i dont install it... im using OBS ver 27.01 my pc is Intel i3-2120 3.30GHz Ram 8GB Graphic Intel 2000 built in from my motherboard...why this is happen? It could be a permissions issue but I'm not 100% sure. You need to create a log file and post it ot the forums so other OBS users can read it and help you.

I indeed used for underside green screen cloth and higher up green paint and also green screen paint on the floar. This way I can create a complete new room. I have green screen on 3 sides back left and right and painted the floor. Since. I also want to do linedance videos the floor would get the color of my dance floor background, the floor color that is of course. Depending on the color you want to paint over with the green one keep in mind that it is needed to paint twice. The paint is not that cheap by the way. But I guess you figured it out by now after 1 year
Sometimes is frustrating when you add the linux tag in a video that is windows based, isn't the same thing to install in linux, can you try to avoid or add windows, windowsUsers, noobs to the video tags, so people can't get here if they use linux.
Would maybe only work on a background which is equal of color else when having different colors tints in background it does not work that well. Too much flickering around the talent.
Make sure to do the copy paste step! Because i had same issue i couldn’t figure out how to paste but figured i didn’t need to since i saw the files in obs but until i actually copy paste it wouldn’t work

Green screen on native OBS is god awful. I don't want to have a 3rd party plug-in because these always break with OBS updates. Unfortunately, that means I have to wait for OBS green screen to get as good as Zoom.

Hello i have obs 30.1.2 and it doesn't have select colour under the background remover after the feather blend, Please where can i get that.
Chromakey in obs works just fine. I had some of those background removal plugins but none of them worked so flawless as the build in one, seriously.

I have issues adding the plugging to Mac. I moved it into the folder Application Support/ obs-studio but when I start the software nothing happens.

When you go to download this there is no windows 64 folder, just an installer version 1.1.2.

I hate that things don't work the same as tutorials teach after they update the program a few times. Now the filter goes to the lower section of filters. not audio/video
I'm having the same issue and so it's as if 'm still using the original installed background remover not the good one :/
i use a mMac Pro mid 2009 and the background remover in OBS crashes OBS every time i try to apply it .... im on High Sierra 10.13.6

Hey Scott! Thanks for the vid. After downloading the plugin, I can only select Background Removal as an Effect Filter, it doesn't show up in the Audio/Video Filters though I pasted it correctly I believe after watching your video. Anyone know how to solve this?

Hey Scott, Royshilkrot has done some major upgrades. Easy installers and added a light enhancing plugin. I'm still working on getting it to achieve it's purpose on my mac, but he brought someone else on board and is constantly upgrading it. You might want to do an upgraded vid tutorial/ All the best my friend!
I already downloaded and have this software on my PC in regards to the Background removal tool for OBS. You're explanation helped me tweak my limited settings until the developer makes changes to the last setting you mentioned. What setting? The feathering I believe that crashes the programs for most.

I use DroidCam and Zoom with virtual background (picture)green screen. Then OBS chroma key. Works perfectly. And no CPU or GPU hits at all.

@@MarsEmbassy Consider one song per scene. You can setup the titles anyway you wish per scene then install the Advanced Scene Switcher and switch the scenes by the length of time for each song obsproject.com/forum/resources/advanced-scene-switcher.395/

Daka, did you restart OBS? Do you have two versions of OBS installed?

Third video I've watched on this without being able to use the plugin. I think a trip to the Dollar Tree for a Green tablecloth would be worth it.
same here. I restarted PC multiple times, restarted OBS multiple times.
Uninstalled OBS 2 times and started everything from scratch. The background removal just doesn't show up in the filter after adding the webcam.

Hey Scott. I had many problems installing this software for months and I mentioned all of it to you (Thank You for listening.), but I got it working. It does crash, but if I'm persistent I can get a good amount of time to use it for a little fun and experimentation. I have a Mac and adjusting "smooth silhouette" doesn't crash it, but choosing "Robust Video Matting" does. It's too bad because they are mentioning that as the best option. I can leave BR installed, with "Scene Collection Manager" I am able to start a brand new opening page where my other scenes are in memory and it appears that BR is not acknowledged to crash it. This is great because I plan to use it for teaching private on-line instrument lessons. I have a green screen I plan to try, but will take a while to set up and I wonder if more even lighting will help too. Yes,I do remember you mentioning more options (LOL) and I knew for a long time that OBS can go through Zoom , but I plan to keep at this software in hopes that one day it will have an update that will work! It might be because I took the installation on as a challenge and I figured it out without any help! Thanks so much my friend!

@@ScottFichter Yes, I get your point my friend. LOL. CPU 3.9% without BR and with BR 28.2%. with just a few light source things. This time it crashed. LOL. I most likely won't use it until it is perfected or if I make a recorded video, but it's always fun to fire it up. As I mentioned before, I installed it as a non-programmer with a lot of head scratching attempts and crashes, so I earned the right to play around with it. LOL. Thanks!
@@49Macman Some plugins for OBS just don't run that well. That Shader Filter plugin acts the same way. That damn thing crashed all day long.
@@ScottFichter Yes, I agree, but if memory serves me I don't think "Shader Filter" is available for the Mac though. The exception is anything Exeldro creates you can take it to the bank!
Hey Scott, I decided to uninstall Background Remover from OBS in my Mac, because it appeared that it got in the way of the built in Virtual Cam. Everytime I selected it nothing happens. I would have kept it, but I plan on doing virtual lessons via zoom and the built in virtual camera is the only way to get it through the zoom lens. BR by Shilkrot is a great idea. I hope someday when the bugs are fixed and that it becomes stock in OBS, but for now I am using the one zoom offers! Thanks!
Hi scoot, im from indonesia, i have installed Background Removal just like you did. But in my obs Filter there's no option "Background Remover" at all, like i dont install it... im using OBS ver 27.01 my pc is Intel i3-2120 3.30GHz Ram 8GB Graphic Intel 2000 built in from my motherboard...why this is happen? Im sure i install it correctly....just like my other obs plugin run perfectly...only Background remover pluggin that not showing up at all....
Try restarting your computer.

It could be a permissions issue but I'm not 100% sure. You need to create a log file and post it ot the forums so other OBS users can read it and help you.

ChromaCam video, Xsplit Vcam video, 3D Spinning logo video, I want to make a video about why I decdied to be a creator. Another creator Ian wants to know how I make my videos. Another creator wants me to make a video about putting scripture on OBS. It's crazy dude. I was telling a friend what I do and he said, Won't you run out of ideas? I replied, NO!!!

Hey Scott, at 5:07 I believe you mentioned adding links in the description for buying the correct formula green paint and instructions for painting green foam for a greenscreen backdrop. I indeed used for underside green screen cloth and higher up green paint and also green screen paint on the floar. This way I can create a complete new room. I have green screen on 3 sides back left and right and painted the floor. Since. I also want to do linedance videos the floor would get the color of my dance floor background, the floor color that is of course. Depending on the color you want to paint over with the green one keep in mind that it is needed to paint twice. The paint is not that cheap by the way. But I guess you figured it out by now after 1 year
Sometimes is frustrating when you add the linux tag in a video that is windows based, isn't the same thing to install in linux, can you try to avoid or add windows, windowsUsers, noobs to the video tags, so people can't get here if they use linux.
Would maybe only work on a background which is equal of color else when having different colors tints in background it does not work that well. Too much flickering around the talent.
It doesn't shop up in "Filters". Restarted OBS. Reinstalled the plugin. Reinstalled Computer. Nothings works. Guess I'll have to do sth else
Make sure to do the copy paste step! Because i had same issue i couldn’t figure out how to paste but figured i didn’t need to since i saw the files in obs but until i actually copy paste it wouldn’t work

Green screen on native OBS is god awful. I don't want to have a 3rd party plug-in because these always break with OBS updates. Unfortunately, that means I have to wait for OBS green screen to get as good as Zoom.
