I found the sewing Bee on youtube this winter and fell in love! I live in the US, so have to find a way to watch the new season. I WISH the books were available in the US without having to pay for shipping from the UK. THank you for the awesome review as well as comparisons to the other books!

Great review, I also just received my copy! I bought the book upon seeing the pattern for that maxi dress, its just exactly what I wanted. I plan on adding some rouleau buttons to the bust too.

We were able to keep the patterns from the made to measure challenges but not the pattern challenge, Sue. But I would love to do that... remake the patterns from our series 😘

I was gifted this book as a beginner to sewing, as much as I loved it, I was greatful to have my mum on hand to help with with some of the patterns! The step by step guide does really rely on you having an idea of patterns and garment making before attempting the pattern in the book. A few things to note if you're new to sewing! I was a bit sad that the patterns need to be traced as they have put multiple pattern pieces overlapping on one sheet - totally understand that they are saving paper but I have ended up getting through so much tracing paper and have only tried 3 projects!

Also, sustainable fabrics are mostly gotten from indie fabric sellers. They do take the time to research and find out about the origins of the fabrics they stock. Their websites normally have very detailed information as well.

Just wondering, do I sew garments with an overlocker only or can I use a regular sewing machine?
Hi Debbie, overlockers are for finishing off raw ends of fabrics and are also used for sewing pieces of fabric but primarily, you need a regular sewing machine first because they do much more than overlockers.
@@JulietUzor_ oh ok.. cool! I have an overlocker, I've had it about a year now but not really used it properly yet. Because I'm making bags, so I use my industrial, but I've been wanting to get into garments.. I just don't know how to lol
@@JulietUzor_ I'm getting a new sewing machine soon for sewing garments. I want to be totally prepared 😉
Im not gonna use the industrial because it's heavy duty.
