Kenny Vaughan/Guitar/Vocals - Johnny G. d'Artenay/Bass/Vocals - Jimmy Lester/Drums @Robert's Western World, Broadway, Nashville, Tn. - Sunday 10. June 2012
I listen to every rendition of Ghost Riders that I come across. I also collect this song. Glen Campbell & Roy Clark, The Ventures, Willy & Johnny with Reggie Young (RIP) also Glen, Roy, Johnny, I'm so glad I got to hear this. I also just made the connection between Kenny here & with Marty Stuart & The Superlatives (I'm from Boston). Kenny is a Virtuoso tele player. Marty Stuart has the creme de la creme of smoking', blazing, tasteful, twangers playing with him.
Hey Jorgen. I watched this series of videos of this performance. Kenny is a genre all to himself (unique one of a kind) I met him at a Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives performance and others thereafter. He is a cool and kind guy .... I wish he was my neighbor (haha) thanks for these videos (Bootleg).
During covid we cancelled our tickets to Marty Stuart, I was not that knowledgable of Marty and Kenny Vaughan. I was impressed by Marty in the Ken Burns Documentary. Being a rock n roll person I wasn't attuned to the style and grace. Then I started watching you tube videos. There are many days I regret cancelling those tickets. Kenny just pulls you in. He is one of a kind. Simply one of a kind and so is Marty. Thank you for the for the entertainment and also the demeanor. My sincerest best.
Liked Kenny for a long time, now; and it seems like forever that I've admired Marty Stuart(who I first saw on an Opry TV special, with a fabulous Nudie-style suit, playing a sunburst Strat with a SLIDE). His hair was perfect, of course. I remember playing "Ghost Riders" in a beach bar in Panama City Beach in the 1980s, with 2 horn player friends - like an R&B horn section! What a great song, to withstand the love of 70 years of overly enthusiastic musicians and still be a crowd favorite. Great version here. Support your local music scene and beer distributors(and bring along a good designated driver). Fortune passes everywhere.
The world is full of technically gifted pickers whose musical instincts are weak. It's also full of gifted musicians who are technically weak. Kenny Vaughan is that rare combination of gifted tech, gifted musician, with perfect timing. Look at the detail paid to the punchline of this song: at 5:56. That my friend is sound bending at it's very best. AND he's a humble guy!
Just discovered Kenny Vaughan literally listening to the last 90 seconds of someone's song, where he (KV) played the solo. Got instantly hooked. For life. No un-hooking. Will keep looking for all his music, recorded & live. What an awesome musician ❗
did take me a long time to realize it was Jimmy Lester from Los Straitjackets! Dammit just love this whole band! And of course master him self Cousin Kenny! Hello from Finland!
As someone who played drums for almost 40 years, I can't say that he's no good, but he could have done so much more. They could have gotten the same thing from a metronome in this one. Of course maybe he was giving the guitar player exactly what he wanted....and he is "the star". I got called to fill in for a sick drummer and the very first thing the guitar player ask me was, "Do you own a pair of brushes?" I did, and ended up playing with them for the next 4 years. 😎
Kenny Vaughan, 1 of the best pickers that ever lived !
Man I would love to watch this with good audio. Kenny's one of my favorite pickers.

So fantastic.
Love Kenny Vaughn. Love Robert's. Love Nashville.
Beautiful for sure, a cross between country and jimmy hendrix. Keep an eye on this guy!
JIMI. indeed Kenny is aces.
If I had just one-third of that talent.....
I would settle for a fourth of that talent.
did take me a long time to realize it was Jimmy Lester from Los Straitjackets! Dammit just love this whole band! And of course master him self Cousin Kenny! Hello from Finland!
Kenny Vaughan Trio, perfect! that drummer is so good also, what a beat and sound.
And the bass man is laying it down too, plus he sounds like John Cash when he sings…….. but There are no superlatives for the genius of Kenny Vaughn
Holy cripes that man is a visionary. Kenny Vaughn gettin' it on.
Oh yessss Outstanding!!
Great to be able to hear those drums over everything else.

Uau!Beautiful sound!
I heard him in a interview saying Bill Frisell was his teacher. Sure was. Great rendition. Oozes technique and talent
??? I know Bill loves Americana but I don't hear any of his influences here.
they ended up in different places as guitarists but both are excellent in their genre
Excellent!! Beautifully played...
KV is just simply a magician...
Nice one!
This was not a performance, it was a clinic..
amazing stuff goin on therr...thanks
Kenny's connection to Earth is those strings, otherwise he would be riding in the sky.
Brilliant, Close your eyes and you'd swear you were listening to Santana or Hendricks!! Kenny absolutely Nails it!
neither one but a combination of both.
kenny can make his gitar sing the vocals.hats off.
The man can flat ass play!
chills
Ese chololon no se queda atrás, se le para bonito a la guitarra y a la batería no se diga; muy buena versión, felicidades muchachos.
Rock kenny
he revisits the main riff of the song so infrequently but you dont even realize it
Cousin Kenny!
Mesmerizing
Bravo!
Pretty good pickin' right there.......!
Listen God. I'll go bald for the rest of my life if you will make me play like this!
Kenny has the feel like SRV did
Great🎸🎵
Good job on a real oldie.
Go get it Cuz!
WOW!!!
"alright" is right!
Ghost Riders in the Sky With Diamonds...
Ghostly!
Burnin' it to the ground!
un freaking real
He plays great as usual, but I like Roy Clark's version on Country Family Reunion on youtube. Check it out!
I sing this at karaoke.
This is a rare moment if musically history where Keith Richards, in disguise, performs with the Kenny Vaughan Trio. Terrific lead guitar player!
Kenny Vaughan needs no help from Richards, however good he may be.
Dayam! Stan Jones would be proud.
Ur right there with SRV rig? Righteous tone .teles. rule
thanks to twangnation
anybody know the gal that played with them that night on fiddle, her name?
Who is the bass player here? Does he play guitar at Layla's during the week?
Johnny G. d'Artenay
What's he using for reverb???
Marty over his shoulder.....
Mary Tyler Moore on guitar!!!…..Or maybe that british lady on the Beverly Hillbillies…..hahaha
Uffaa I hear ya Cornbob -- he's definitely looking like Miss Hathaway here. Oh well, still gotta love his (her?) playing . . . .
+BaBa Booey immature comments from wanna be players
Baba Booey - how old are you? 12, maybe 13. Keep your stupid comments to yourself. Thanks and have a nice evening!
A moronic comment if I’ve ever seen one.
Awsome glad you let your hair down....now play shit we understandsac
They play great but I give it a thumbs down for the sound quality.
It sounds like it was recorded on a cell phone but the video is a bit old for that. I agree with you and would like to hear this done in a studio.
interesting techno-version of the song, but still pale in comparison to the southern rock version by the Outlaws !!!
I love Kenny but the drummer is no good
As someone who played drums for almost 40 years, I can't say that he's no good, but he could have done so much more. They could have gotten the same thing from a metronome in this one. Cousin Kenny!!
Wow!!!!
