I havent seen that. Im 30 hours in. And all I see are sweats. I would say like 95% of the people I have seen are super sweats. Jumping around like its mario bros and crap. Turning on me 50 meters out with an smg and landing every shot to my head while mid air and crap. Experiences vary. But mine was more miserable than queing up with my former cod mlg friend who is top 1% in cod. For me, i would sooner go out and play actual paintball with people than ever play this miserable sweatfest again.
XDefiant is BY FAR the most enjoyment I have had playing an MP FPS in many years. I can't put it down, it's bloody incredible and no SBMM+INPUT based matchmaking is a DREAM
It's not that they can't compete it's that they stab themselves in the foot meanwhile cod does the same thing over and over again. Last good CoD was Cold war mainly bc of the reinvention of zombies but multiplayer still the same things
Cod just has the market locked because of its popularity. It has been shit the past few years but it’s the shit everyone is used to rather than shit than people have to try and get used to. It’s hard to stomp out COD when a lotta fans of the game are like madden, fifa, 2k players. They’ll complain and complain but at the end of the day, they’ll comeback. Not going to happen because the vast majority of of the player base for those games are casuals. SBMM is design to protect those casuals so they can continue playing and spend money on micro transaction.

SBMM is not going away, and what makes it even more hilarious is that the next CoD game will be on the annual top seller list like they always are. These guys are still going to buy it and play it. Talk about not missing a beat 😀 On the game itself, I gotta say as a fan of The Division I love how some of the maps capture the atmosphere of both games. I can actually tell from what mission the map was made. Ubisoft has a good number of IPs from where to pull the classes and can do it for a good while. This is just an appetizer now.
The Ubisoft franchise skins is an amazing idea. It would be awesome to run around with an AR that has the Eagle Bearer skin from the Division or the SC-20k from Splinter Cell 🔥🔥🔥
I really like it. The fact that its so stripped down is actually a huge plus for me. It feels like a faster passed Black Ops with some movement abilities and a gameplay style that mostly eliminates camping. I agree it's missing a little something to make it a game that sticks but I'm hoping that we get that in the future. As is, I'll be sticking with it as it's one of the few arena/classic shooters that may have any sort of staying power. I had hoped SplitGate would have stuck around (game was amazing) but the skill cap on that one was a bit too much for some people. Defiant is more simple and will appeal to a lot of people that are nostalgic about the earlier CoD games.
Just tried it last night and im definitely enjoying it but there definitely need to be some balance changes and new modes. The snipers need to have more hit flinch when you are hit by enemy fire. Ive been insta sniped too many times while lighting some one up and its ridiculous. Hope to see modes like TDM, free for all and kill confirmed for those who are more into non OBJ type game modes. Lastly,they need to fix the spawning into games in progress. Already have had a few where I spawn into a match where my team is getting annihilated and there's nothing you can do.
Not having SBMM and EOMM is THE way to go. I don’t want to play a game where the Game is playing against me protecting billy from having a bad experience.
It reminds me alot of black ops 4 specifically. Classic cod style gunplay with specialist abilities. Been enjoying it but yeah needs some balance tweaking. Great foundation so far though
they balance the players in the lobby so if the lobby has 2 very good players they will most likely to be put in different teams. That makes the game more fair for everyone (except if your full stacking with good players enemy team will be so dead).
It doesn't matter if it has SBMM or not. The fact that it doesn't allow you playing in the same lobby with the people you've been playing with, no wonder why no ones uses mics in game. It keeps refreshing the lobby after every match!
The disconnect between ttk and time to death is my biggest issue so far. It feels like everybody is a heath tank and I get melted. Way too much shoot first hit all my shots and die first. And with no kill cam I can’t watch back to see if it’s bullshit or not😂

But when I’m doing damage comparable to top players on both teams with less kills and more deaths bc the hit reg…na bruh😂
Look at your ping and packet loss, would be a connection thing I’d assume. Go into the firing range, the TTK is 0.4 average across the board from 5-10ms

I'm really enjoying this game, tho I think it still needs a lot of work til it's a top tier game. Like, gun sounds and movement need improving. Need more modes, too. SND and a ground war type mode would add a lot more variety imo. I like that there's no SBMM, but I've seen people party up and full sweat, which sort of ruins the experience. I think parties should be forced to play against other party teams.
For anybody wondering they are adding snd, ranked, capture the flag and a bunch of other game modes after the pre season along when the new season drops they are adding one new faction a month as well as a new gun and map every month once season one drops. They are also adding private matches as well
Can't wait to play the Official Ranked mode and see which rank I'm actually in. MW19 I was Iridescent for two seasons, third Crsimson, MM22 I was Iridescent for one season, and crimson for 1. MW3 I got to Platinum when I finally jumped off the wagon because I realized there was a hidden MMR in even ranked. The idea is that you skill level is determined before-hand, so you will be matched with equally skilled people within the same Rank (Which is confusing) one platinum player may be wayy waaayyy worse than you at the platinum stage, and you wont ever be matched against that worse player because the hidden MMR is protecting that from happening. Thus, the "Ranks" in "Ranked" looses it's integrity. XDefiant is such a refreshing experience!
The confusing part is, people state there is SBMM once you hit 25 then there is no SBMM. Which is stupid why would there be a system drop off…either there is or isn’t SBMM..
u CAN play sbmm lobbies untill u reach 25level so u can get used to the game without getting clapped in ur first few games. But u can also play the NO SBMM lobbies even when under level 25.
The ONLY reason I’m playing this game is bc it’s stance against SBMM. Good or bad. This is the game I’ll defend just to make a point to other FPS games that use SBMM
What being missed is the conversation of untangled having to SBMM, just SBTB, is how not soul draining the actually SBMM is when you play trial ranked. It’s not just Ubisoft of all punish gave players what they asked for… but they still made a better SBMM system then their competitors.

I think once the honeymoon period wears off the majority of players will be going back to games like CoD. It's way more polished and it's much more enjoyable for the casual player. This game actually made me re-install CoD after not playing it for like 6 months.

Nope, it's a decent enough game but it'll be a quick blast like Rogue Company. Okay to waste 30 minutes on a couple of times a week for me, doesn't have much replayability.
It’s to cancel slides. It’s part of the meta and it’s not over powered. Really the only cons are hit detection, desyncs, the hero perks and snipers being a little over powered.

No ability seems overpowered I’m not a fan of snipers in any game but with how useless they are up close to an SMG and most ARs making them anything else would prevent anyone from using them. Stay out of line of sight and close the distance. They are far easier to deal with than one shot shotguns.
A lot of people complain about no SBMM, but i really like that, most people i encounter are somehow way more of my actual skill level than with SBMM, my matches are actually fun while lets say in CoD, i get 3 matches with MLG players, one with noobs its not consistant, while xDefiant most of the matches are fun but rarely there are people better than me and its a nice change of pace

It definitely is a very safe game, however what I think people really wanted was a solid game. I don't need this game to absolutely blow my mind, I just want it to be an alternative to the big three games and that's what I got.
Now they need to fix their net code to eliminate the being shot behind walls or dying despite having the drop. Second would be to tweak the footsteps to be more audible across the factions. Not hearing any faction until they are 1m away.
I was planning to play Paper Mario this weekend, but XDefiant has its hooks in me DEEP, and I'm more of a single-player guy. Although you just reminded me that I bought Ironsight years back and still have not played it lol.
I’ve been having a great time so far the hit detection thing is a problem but I thankfully haven’t noticed it to much. Outside of occasionally getting shot after in behind cover. A few tweaks and updates and I’ll stick around a lot longer especially if they add new guns maps etc.
I love the no sbmm takes me right back to the OG cod’s, I’m on a 100 win streak with a 2.5kd and am having more fun than i have had on any cod game in the last 5 years.
The only thing I think it could use is party size based match making. If you're solo it should try to match you vs other solo players. Maybe it already accounts for that a bit but those are the only basically unplayable matches I've had.
People complain about hit detection and de-sync but forget these games are probably 15-20hz tick rate for character movement updates, it's not hit detection; publishers just skimp on something most people won't notice sadly
No SBMM and input based MM is HUGE! It will be fun for a few weeks but once double XP weekend is over I imagine I'll get bored of it pretty quick. The player progression, incentive and reward structure are pretty weak. Not many things I would even consider spending money on or playing for a long time to earn.
Notice how worrying about what to consider spending money on its what you say first. Old cod only had its few camos to go for and just playing carried it

The net code is messed up. If they can fix that, they may have a future. No SBMM should be the standard for every game with ranked skill based optional modes for those looking for esports level play.
Definitely gives old school COD vibes. Can't play it as fast as cod (my experience). A couple of times i had to sit back and go "slow down and stop trying to play this like current call of duty" I agree some abilities seem to be wayyy better than other but i don't run into too many people spamming theirs. Most gunfights i feel as if the better man usually win but sometimes i try to run from an ambush and don't get to that corner at the time the game is saying i am. Might just be me tho
I heard a developer talking that no sbmm would bring more variety to the game but that's not true. What happens is that the 10% best players will always have the best kill count. No variation at all.
People only hate SBMM because they don't want to play against opponents of similar skill level, they want to feel like a badass and farm lower skilled opponents. That being said I'm glad that there's a casual mode as well as a ranked mode to cater to everyone. Whatever the fate of XDefiant, other game devs could learn from that.
Yup! Bring it over! I’m all for a higher player base. I’m also all for people who never got to play these games or didn’t want to buy a Xbox for them would get the chance to play the best cos franchise of all time. No downsides from my perspective.
For me the only problems from COD this game fixed was no SBMM and REAL gun names. Other then that it still has nonsensical factions, Fortnite esc cosmetics, intrusive micro transactions, brings back the annoying bunny hopping crack heads from MW2019, brings back every map being a 3 lane, I could go on

I had insane connective and server issues this morning. West coast of US. I literally couldn't get into a game for like 10 mins and then the lag was insane. Ping never got above 40 just servers being horrible

I have a 4.0 W/L ratio. While in cod I’ve consistently had .8 or even .7 W/L. It’s like cod wants me to lose more. KD is about the same so far for me tho surprisingly. 1.0 same as cod. Excited to try to get better and actually see my KD go up unlike cod where these stats literally do not matter.

I think hit flinch is the only sniper balance that is needed before theyre perfect

xDEFIANT was really fun playing with the bois. Did not want to get off. had to force myself to get off at 2:30am. The teams felt well balanced.

Not if the hackers freely run gaming. Love Xdefiant, not worth the annoyance because virgins and nerds want pointless notoriety in video games and refuse to actually play normally because they need the crutch of wall hacks or aim bot or both. I know it’s bigger than Xdefiant, hackers everywhere, but that’ll be the death of gaming or the new standard so everyone runs around hiding and wall hacking with aims bots.
I think once the honeymoon period wears off the majority of players will be going back to games like CoD. It's way more polished and it's much more enjoyable for the casual player. This game actually made me re-install CoD after not playing it for like 6 months.

I think people know this game isn’t good but they’ll pretend for as long as they can just to to feel like they are finally sticking it to cod and sbmm . There’s plenty of FPS that are 20x better than XD but because it’s free people are pretending it’s a good game .
People install Xdefiant expecting a new CoD, when instead they get a Overwatch.

Nope, it's a decent enough game but it'll be a quick blast like Rogue Company. Okay to waste 30 minutes on a couple of times a week for me, doesn't have much replayability.

It’s to cancel slides. It’s part of the meta and it’s not over powered. Really the only cons are hit detection, desyncs, the hero perks and snipers being a little over powered.

No ability seems overpowered
I’m not a fan of snipers in any game but with how useless they are up close to an SMG and most ARs making them anything else would prevent anyone from using them. Stay out of line of sight and close the distance. They are far easier to deal with than one shot shotguns.
Loving this game it's only my third day online. It's free, smaller file size, simple, fun, and addictive.
They may not be taking risks, but this game is back to what FPS is all about. Its brilliant.
Interesting seeing the Blitz Shield again so many years after Ghost Recom Phantoms, I think thats the only other time I played a F2P game by Ubisoft.
A lot of people complain about no SBMM, but i really like that, most people i encounter are somehow way more of my actual skill level than with SBMM, my matches are actually fun while lets say in CoD, i get 3 matches with MLG players, one with noobs its not consistant, while xDefiant most of the matches are fun but rarely there are people better than me and its a nice change of pace
This game is f tier bro, infested with bunny hopping and some of the worst hit detection and lag comp I've ever seen in a game. It'll be another ubisoft abandoned special
It's fun, and str8 foward. It's not overwhelming at all. I hope it stays like this and it gets better.
It definitely is a very safe game, however what I think people really wanted was a solid game. I don't need this game to absolutely blow my mind, I just want it to be an alternative to the big three games and that's what I got.
I agree. I want support better matchmaking models but at the end of the day there wasn't any other feature that made the gameplay stand out.
Now they need to fix their net code to eliminate the being shot behind walls or dying despite having the drop. Second would be to tweak the footsteps to be more audible across the factions. Not hearing any faction until they are 1m away.
I love this game, but it could have a extra game mode or two. Maybe a team death match style would be kinda cool. Definitely gonna continue to play

I was planning to play Paper Mario this weekend, but XDefiant has its hooks in me DEEP, and I'm more of a single-player guy. Although you just reminded me that I bought Ironsight years back and still have not played it lol.
I’ve been having a great time so far the hit detection thing is a problem but I thankfully haven’t noticed it to much. Outside of occasionally getting shot after in behind cover. A few tweaks and updates and I’ll stick around a lot longer especially if they add new guns maps etc.
I love the no sbmm takes me right back to the OG cod’s, I’m on a 100 win streak with a 2.5kd and am having more fun than i have had on any cod game in the last 5 years.
The only thing I think it could use is party size based match making. If you're solo it should try to match you vs other solo players. Maybe it already accounts for that a bit but those are the only basically unplayable matches I've had.
It was very refreshing, but I'm glad it's f2p. PvP just isn't my jam these days. I got too old and slow. Will definitely revisit every now and then.
Feel like a really good balance between classic cod and battlefield. Moves so fast though! I am not used to shooters moving this fast.
People complain about hit detection and de-sync but forget these games are probably 15-20hz tick rate for character movement updates, it's not hit detection; publishers just skimp on something most people won't notice sadly
No SBMM and input based MM is HUGE! It will be fun for a few weeks but once double XP weekend is over I imagine I'll get bored of it pretty quick. The player progression, incentive and reward structure are pretty weak. Not many things I would even consider spending money on or playing for a long time to earn.
Camo grind is the only thing cod has progression wise that XD don’t. Maybe they’ll add it who knows. Maybe that’s the cost of free to play

The net code is messed up. If they can fix that, they may have a future. No SBMM should be the standard for every game with ranked skill based optional modes for those looking for esports level play.

The map design in this game is top tier.
Definitely gives old school COD vibes. Can't play it as fast as cod (my experience). A couple of times i had to sit back and go "slow down and stop trying to play this like current call of duty"
I agree some abilities seem to be wayyy better than other but i don't run into too many people spamming theirs.
Most gunfights i feel as if the better man usually win but sometimes i try to run from an ambush and don't get to that corner at the time the game is saying i am. Might just be me tho
I heard a developer talking that no sbmm would bring more variety to the game but that's not true. What happens is that the 10% best players will always have the best kill count. No variation at all.
I'm begging the people to at least keep this game alive after season 1 release to see how Ubisoft handles this
People only hate SBMM because they don't want to play against opponents of similar skill level, they want to feel like a badass and farm lower skilled opponents. That being said I'm glad that there's a casual mode as well as a ranked mode to cater to everyone. Whatever the fate of XDefiant, other game devs could learn from that.

Yup! Bring it over! I’m all for a higher player base. I’m also all for people who never got to play these games or didn’t want to buy a Xbox for them would get the chance to play the best cos franchise of all time. No downsides from my perspective.
For me the only problems from COD this game fixed was no SBMM and REAL gun names.
Other then that it still has nonsensical factions, Fortnite esc cosmetics, intrusive micro transactions, brings back the annoying bunny hopping crack heads from MW2019, brings back every map being a 3 lane, I could go on
It may be the future. When its not 95% the sweatiest sweats in existence. As it is, its like a group of headless chickens running around insta head shot 50 meter jump shot slide cancel killing quickscoping mlg pros. And maybe 5% normal players. I would say, if you value your time. Avoid this game till it takes off, if it does take off. Because as it is now. Its worse than queing up with my former cod mlg friend who is top 1% on cod, by a very very large margin.
I have never seen so many sweats in my life in one place ever before, and I hope to never again. I would sooner play any other shooter on the market, than put myself through 30 hours of this miserable sweatfest ever again.

I had insane connective and server issues this morning. West coast of US. I literally couldn't get into a game for like 10 mins and then the lag was insane. Ping never got above 40 just servers being horrible
SBMM makes every game a different experience. You get matched against all levels of skill lower or higher.
The part where he's wrong is I'm absolutely playing this game because there's no SBMM. THAT IS 100% WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT THE MAIN REASON I'M PLAYING IT!

I have a 4.0 W/L ratio. While in cod I’ve consistently had .8 or even .7 W/L. It’s like cod wants me to lose more. KD is about the same so far for me tho surprisingly. 1.0 same as cod. Excited to try to get better and actually see my KD go up unlike cod where these stats literally do not matter.

xDefiant is refreshing for me considering the new MW3 uses OG cod maps (no I didn’t purchase it for this reason)
Feels clunky and slow compared to CoD and it feels like it takes 20 bullets to kill and 2 bullets to die. Needs work.
I’d argue one of the main pros of the game it’s its simplicity, no complex gun/ability system mumbo jumbo
You should check out Insurgency Sandstorm. A cocktail of realistic hardcore shooter blended with arcady aspects. No SBMM

Wrong, I am playing this game because of the lack of sbmm. I don't even know if the game is a "good" game and I might be blinded by the lack of it. I am having more fun in this game than I do usually in halo or cod but idk if it's just that I'm obsessed with the lack of sbmm or not.
I’m not a huge cod fan to the point where I’m not open to be games but xd def needs some work the mechanics of the game feel a little strange but the matchmaking is chill huge plus

No bullshit. Something is different about this game. It plays a little bit newer and smoother than other shooting games. Im not even a hardcore shooter fps player. But just the gameplay It's just a few notches newer. Def hard but also def fun. Last shooter i got super into was probably b41. This on sum new gen rainbow six stuff
