    Helped a lot, I had the flute too high on the lip, as soon as I moved it down, I could play an octave higher and there was no air in my sound

    Middle-aged beginning flutist here. (but not new to woodwinds in general). Out of all the channels I've surfed for comprehensive explanation about tone and embouchure, I must say this is the best. One of the things that affected my tone terribly was the positioning of the headjoint. The soundhole in relation to the rest of the keys is very important. I'm loving experimenting with all of the things that I saw explained in this video, and cannot thank you enough for all of the troubleshooting tips! It's good to get all that in check while I'm a newbie, so I don't develop long-lasting bad habits.

    I was getting a hissing sound with every note I playing and in Manchester uk, we don't have snakes.I noticed my jaws were too tight, I got a great sound when I relaxed my jaw!! I was also using up 3 lungs for one bar so feeling less exhausted when I play I'm an ex clarinet player!

    what are exercises there for louder and more quiet breathing tones during/ while jumping through different notes. in order to make flute sound professional rather than one boring tone with diff notes

  • @RosssRoyce
    @RosssRoyce 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My tone spoils within a same tune with long phrases - not because of embouchure, relaxation or breath deficit but because the lips get dry, and I’m not into licking my lip like a lizard as some do.

    Do you have a tip for me. The Ciss is approx. 35% too high compared to D (It varies betw. 20-50% depending on how hard I blew). Have tried to adjust with no luck. Are you familiar with this problem? Gunnar from Sweden
