    I purchased a 2018 Impreza Sport, hands down it is the best car. Nothing cheap looking or feel about it. The ride is smooth, the cabin quiet and it sticks to the road. It is FUN to drive. I totally love this car

    Subaru Lane Keep assist is NOT active by default, nor with activation of adaptive cruise. You are missing the icon at the top right of the Drivers Info Display (To the right of the lead car icon). Also it is only active above 40 MPH even when on at this point. Hit the button on the bottom right of the cruise control section of the steering wheel to turn it on. I just hit it out of habit every time I start my 16 Legacy, with the cruise control button.

      That's not a bad thing. Have you seen some of these newer cars? So many automakers are trying to make cars look like spaceships these days...

      It's the halogen headlight housings. Everything else in the class has projector beams these days. It makes this car look dated, even though everything else looks great. Stylish without being overdone.

      After driving my Toyota RAV for 20 yrs I'm finally starting to look around and one of the makes I looked at was Subaru - but man are they dated looking! Those channels that go up the windshield and over the roof - the 80's are calling and they want their car back!

    Agreed with the power, imagine the same engine in the crosstrek but it's jacked up and heavier and people still say it's got enough power, just no.

    Hopefully the WRX and STI will see some improvement. Subaru needs to take some interior design cues from the new 3 row they are making and bake that in across the lineup.

    A welcome improvement that's somehow already dated looking compared the competition - this trim looks kinda like an old Hyundai wagon. The sleeker looking Sport hatchback MT trim is on my short list. Too bad I can't add Eyesight, it's only a 5sp (new Crosstrek gets 6 gears), and of course that whole lack of power...

    I think the Lane Keep Assist doesn't engage until you reach 40 mph. That's how it works on my Outback. Good looking car.

    One of the better reviews I've come across. She missed that the lane assist is only active during cruise control. Can't explain the 26 mpg... Maybe she guns it hard. I've been getting a solid 32 from mine.

    The way I've heard the expression used used, nobody should ever be driving anything while "on the pipe," yet at 4:11, she urges the viewer to be on the pipe all the time, every time, if you want to wring everything out of the 2017 Impreza. I'm not sure that's responsible.

    remember when Subaru was cool with rally cars and what not?

    • @imoffendedthatyouareoffended
      @imoffendedthatyouareoffended 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ibraheem Productions Impreza started as a normal a to b car, then they threw the legacy out and took Impreza to be the new rally car, that’s when wrx and sti where created and the cars we use for rally today. Impreza has gone back to its roots while taking design ques from its wrx and sti counterpart. Supposedly the new 2020 wrx sti release will have hatchback and will look somewhat like the Impreza that’s already out. They’re still kicking ass in rally btw, they set a world record in the Isle of Man a year ago at like 17 mins

  • @joshk333
    @joshk333 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    WHY is practically every US review of the Impreza done with the freaking CVT?! They are one of the few manufacturers that still even give a manual option, and all these “enthusiasts” keep getting the CVT. I realize it gets better gas mileage and that this isn’t a sports car, but it’s still more fun and engaging with a manual.
    All you hear about these days is “distracted driving” yet they keep cramming more and more fancy head units, with distracting sub menu screens. Or autonomous driving and braking sensors that damn near drive the car for you. Guess what we lazy Americans will do now that we have something to take that whole paying attention while driving hassle off our hands? Send texts and emails or check Snapchat. The whole direction of the auto industry is just depressing.

      can you inform me of how their new global platform is a feat of engineering? Im asking honestly, Im not playing devils advocate or trying to be an ass. is it because of how much better the handling is and how much less noticeable the body roll is? or is the amazing part just the fact that theyve managed to create a platform from which they're seriously going to make their entire line of cars?

    • @mariomontedoro1

    • @ottodob
      @ottodob 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      you are correct in that an awd with snow tires> fwd with snow tires but in my experience fwd with snow tires is more than acceptable for most winter conditions and awd isnt something id pay more for. its your money so spend it how you want. there is also no need to bring gender into this, ellysa. its just rude.

    Jeez. Can Subaru can design an any more 'utilitarian' lookin car! Its almost as if they are trying desperately to look ugly.....May be its a hidden safety feature ! Its the opposite of a 'head turner' So that people don't turn heads to look at it and hence more safety! Ah that makes sense....Brilliant move Subaru!

    • @vossler360
      @vossler360 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see your point, but to be fair Subaru has never been a style leader. At best, one can hope to describe a Subaru as "handsome," but those who desire a modicum of style in this segment would be better served by looking at the Mazda 3.
      With that said, those who value thoughtful engineering (such as a longitudinally-positioned drivetrain with AWD system) in a durable package should give the current Impreza a look.
