Awesome bois! Glad you guys dug this, especially for this song being what it is...lol. Chuck actually pretty much got the gist of the lyrics...haha. Shit is definitely going awry. Like I said in that novel I posted on Patreon, this is their "fall" album, so a lot of the vibe here is that of transition, especially the kind of fall transition where things being dying and rotting to make way for the cold dead months of winter and eventually then on to the new. In the context of the story they're telling, I think this is probably the point where the being that is tied to the planet begins to realize that the end is nigh for both of them. Personal preference, of course, but I actually really love the kind of "hidden" vocals in this track because I always hear them as less of a vocal part and more an atmospheric element or an accompanying instrument. Especially the part where Jake is chopping up his lines "drift" "ing" "back" "wards" "in" "to", "no" "thing" and it matches perfectly as like a percussive element during those syncopated guitar chugs. So good. Anywho....great reaction guys! Also, these dudes live about an hour away from me, so I'll see if I can get ahold of them to tell them to put a "yeehaw" somewhere on the next album for Chuck 🤣
