Yes, and the reason for it: The German language is a very beautiful one. May be you never heard that or considered it to be so. By the way, even your name is a German one. We have a town named Stromberg in the Southern parts of our country.😊😃
As to the German language it is certainly a must to all singers of The Lieder by Schubert and Mahler and others and almost impossible to master by Anglo/Americans, except Thomas Hampson trained by Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. The unique aria g flat by Pamina in the Magic Flute, why did Mozart compose it so difficult in German that rarely the best of best German singers can master it while the Italian version does not have these language problems. Anyhow as Hampson once remarked the best language for singing is the Russian language because it reflects wonderfully the emotions. Listen to late Dmitri Hvorostovsky: „the cranes“.

@@JochenArweilerYes, Bach was a Lutheran. Weimar Herder Church (where this is being played) is Lutheran Church north of Germany. Protestants in the country mostly reside in the North while Catholics mostly reside in the South. (Where Pope Benedict XVI is from, a city in Bavaria). This contains paintings by Lucas Cranach, a friend of Martin Luther in 1521 during the Protestant Reformation.

Excellent performances all round but the real genius of course is Bach. How does one imagine so many harmonious parts overlapping like this. Incredible.
It is heavenly music produced by a divine mind, this what defines almost all of Bach's works.
@@sirknight4981 Yes, sir.
Heavenly! Maestro Gardiner is a wizard with that alchemic wand. Thank you to all the musicians and singers for such an uplifting and sublime interpretation.❤️🙏🏽🎉🎄✨🌈🇿🇦
Love this group! And Bernarda Fink is simply the best.
Enjoyed this performance. I listened to a couple of others and this one seems the best. Bravo!
An amazing Performance - thank you to everyone involved.
A very energetic and briskly interpretation. Great sense of metric and and very rhythmic giving a dance like style type of feeling. Very nice!
A great, precisely well rehearsed, and well enjoyed performance!! Oh, how sweet !!

I believe in Bach. So does God.
there is no God.
Bach believed strongly in God. That's correct.
Astonishing interpretation, original instruments & impeccable soloists. I am wondering, why 200 didn't appreciated it.
Christmas time is not Christmas time 🎄 for me if I haven‘t been to the christmas oratorio at least once
