These $50 Technic Cars are such an awesome collection! You get 80% of the experience of the 1:8 supercar line for literally 10% the price. What's even better, is that if you wait 6 months, these things basically drop down to $40 at almost every retailer (and they even routinely show up at Costo for mid $30s). Even at full price these sets are a good buy, if you find them for 20% (which is easy to do) it's a must-buy.
Not really a big fan of the Technic sports cars in general, nor am I a big car guy, but was instantly drawn in by this one when I saw it on display. Even knowing nothing about its “source material”, it just looks GOOD.
For a smaller technic set, the designer did an amazing job remaking the bolide. Captured the body very well. I'd love to see this in LEGO bricks too.
I love that the inside cockpit console seems to show the Paul Ricard circuit on it.
Great set and a fun build. I can confirm that lowering the yellow sections in the doors greatly improves the side profile of the windows, and is fairly easy to do. I also recommend repositioning the steering wheel/yoke so it's not right up in the driver's face.
Im usually not a big fan of technic car sets but everything about this one feels better to me than the rest. I'm even surprised by the quality of the yellow print over black plastic! Aint perfect but one of the better ones ive seen recently
Price, piece count and design is brilliant. Too many stickers though, circular stickers on wheel hubs must be a nightmare. But for 50, it's hard to say no. It's worth the build and a sell on for me.

Finally! Some real Lego value with this set! I am not even a technic fan and I ordered this car day 1 because I see so much potential with the design and pieces. Kudos to the designer and thanks for the review Jang.
In my country, the McLaren was sold at the price of $90 when it came out 2 years ago. This new one is sold at $80... I'm very happy that Lego can actually fix their pricing when they need to!

Very large pieces count, very good quality/price ratio, and above all a good set for alternate builds and Mocs.

Cool looking set! I think the stickers really sell the look and for the audience, I think an expert level sticker sheet is not too bad…then I look at the age range on the box and start to wonder if 9+ sets with that many tiny and important stickers make sense.
This feels like an affordable Technic set for me! I just haven’t bought any yet because they’re never in colors that feel right for my Bionicle Mocs after I take it apart. If only it was keetorange!
This set as well as the McLaren Senna GTR from two years ago is about as close to an 18+ advanced building set as they can be, without being tagged as 18+. There is just so many (mostly tiny) pieces in this that it's just as challenging to build as some of the larger Technic sets, despite the much more modest retail price of this and the Senna. Especially as they're so tightly wired up and sections just barely able to fit within the spaces to create such wild shapes and angles like the rear X lights which remain firmly in place.
The amount of functions may be somewhat basic for a Technic set (though the engine is awesome!) and I'm still not too sure of the styling of the real car it's based on but I did LOVE building it.
Note that the back of the set's box, which showed this model off in the side view, it was likely a prototype version of this set, as it had what looked like stickers for the front fenders and carbon fibre looking stickers on some panels. Neither of which had stickers in this final version, with some panels left bare without stickers instead. Probably would've made the whole car very tacky looking, like you said, if the set was completely plastered with them.
I basically bought it as a parts pack for €30 and decided to build it on a whim. I am glad I did the building experience was very satisfying. Even learned a thing or two. It's a lovely-looking set as well. Now I am afraid I will have to turn it into spare parts, hehe.
I didn't really like the yellow of this model, but when I found a blue version I had to get it immediately.
a Bugatti which isn't black and blue just doesn't feel right.
I find it really funny how I hear about these new models of cars thru lego before anywhere else. Theyre ahead of the curve
$50 for that size isn't bad compared to highly detailed diecast models of that size. And you have the fun of building it yourself, not to mention MOCs on rebrickable.

Just got this set a few days ago fun build with the exception of a few annoying connections goes well with the Senna which I already have

The front axle is way too far back making the whole thing look off. Perhaps that's all they could do at this scale but still...

My fingers hurt after building this. I've never made so many mistakes building and I've been building lego my whole life. This is by far the most complicated set I've built that isn't 18+

The stickers upset me too, and i don't know if anyone else has had this but-this year the new sticker sheets are not printed right, and the adhesive does not come with the sticker sometimes, which leaves me with a ruined sticker. No way to fix without an outside adhesive or just getting a replacement sheet
I got the blue version of this Lego set. Other than the poor shape and all the gaps I love it.

This set got me into the $50 vehicle line! Complex yet simple, the functions are nice and the price point is pretty good.
But yeah I swapped those red hood pins for black ones as soon as I built it.
I'm not a big fan of the source material (that car looks CRAZY by the way,) but this is a good model of it. That is a LOT of stickers, though.
many of those pieces would be very useful for mocs, is that something you'd consider Jang? those shapes seem fun to use here and there for your city :)

Love the design overall, but those little red and blue pieces would bug the ... outta me! Why? Black or yellow please!! LOL
Just finished building it. I'm not going to lie, the build is very tedious due to all the stop-and-starting due to all the breaks in building that comes from applying all the stickers.
I am trying to get rid of my tech sets....but sets like thes make it hard. In other words: I want it.

Looks great from a distance, closer inspection is not as flattering. From the previews, I though it could the set to change my mind on technic cars but no. I respect the attempt but in the end, it's not for me. And that sticker sheet is a thing of nightmares.
I just call it “Boldie” without having to suffer the French accent
The gappiness of the build here makes me think it should be a bionicle. It's not, it's just full of holes.

Lego system cars always had a pretty comprehensible scale. Even with the changes for speed champions. I never understood the scaling of technic cars, Always seemed to be completely arbitrary. Some of the old ferrari technic builds looked really good, The orange porsche did as well. The ones coming out lately, like in the past 3 years, I just really have not been blown away with, The corvettes, mustang, raptor, lamborghini, Ford GT, and now this. They just fall short in presentability.
