Amazon's Fake Discounts: A Customer's Story

- Are Amazon sales just a scam to lure us in? My recent ordeal might give you a reason to question those enticing offers. I recently tried to purchase a laptop on an amazing promotion, only to experience a series of Amazon scam red flags. From order cancellation with no explanation to endless delivery delays, it felt like a bait and switch tactic designed to get me on their site. Are these fake Amazon promotions just clever tricks?
In this video, I dive into my frustrating journey of buying a discounted laptop, which Amazon ultimately never delivered. Despite multiple purchases, Amazon third-party sellers kept shifting the delivery date and finally cited an incorrect address. This experience has left me wondering if Amazon’s discounted deals are even real or if they’re just a ruse to get us to buy something else.
Have you ever been tricked by a seemingly too-good-to-be-true Amazon offer? Did you encounter order issues or suspect a fraudulent listing? My customer service issue turned into a nightmare, leading me to question the authenticity of these promotional deals. Are they designed to scam us or get us clicking on their website?
Join me as I expose the potential Amazon sales scam and share my story to help you avoid falling for these fake discounts. I’ll also discuss the broader implications of online shopping scams and what it means for consumer protection.

Stick with things delivered by Amazon prime. You then known it is sitting in an amazon warehouse.
Thank you for your comment. Tbh I didn’t even realise this was a third party seller.
@@AntiquesArena amazon have a "prime" filter for search so it only shows you prime products if you select it. Could still be a 3rd party seller, but will be in Amazon's warehouses so you know it is a legit product in stock.
So sorry for your troubles there! Questionable 3rd party seller for sure😏
I had a seller with a company name having Canada in the title, and the item said shipped and sold in Canada. It was over 200, but I thought its good because its coming from Canada (my country) Tracking number didnt work for Canada post so I used a universal tracking website found out it was coming from the States, should have read the reviews people were angry saying empty boxes were showing up and that the company was not at all Canadian. So my item was supposed to arrive the day I found it had just crossed the border, was waiting 2 weeks by this point, so I wrote a bad company review warning people. Then I get a call from Amazon saying that Amazon will give me a 50 dollar gift certificate if I change the review to a 5 star one. I said hold on a minute why would Amazon do that? So the guy came clean said ok its the company I left a nasty review with. Looked up the number here they were using a ping service in Canada to locate the numbers of the people who'd bought items from them! So I called Amazon and reported them. They did nothing as that company is still operating on the platform. I did get my item the day before I was supposed to get a refund, but still they are and were deceitful.
Hi Thank you very much for your comment. I am firstly happy you got your item even if it was eventually. i am nine days on with no laptop and no refund. i have never had bad service like this before from amazon.
@@AntiquesArena Sad but you'd think a pay service like Amazon would be more accountable than that, and hold their sellers to the highest standards. I hope you get this resolved soon!
Edd in your first reciept that was for a 10inch then the uprated price shows a 16 inch something isn't right
Just sent you the pic tony, its right, 16 inches. but dont matter cos i wont be getting any laptop at this rate, its a joke, had no laptop and no money back yet
they put a £5 gift voucher in my account like thats going to compensate for the £600 i saved on the laptop i was supposed to get.
I just phoned them again, ffs i cant even have a refund until monday. they have to give the seller 48 hours after they contact them. even though they wrote to them yesterday, because i phoned in today it goes from this evening now. this is a joke. get scammed and its going to take me almost two weeks from purchase date to get my money back.
The Glass decanter how old was it ? ... wasnt radioactive or something and it got beeped thats why they said it was dangerous .. Just a thought like . And yes we have been messed about on Amazon with one of their sellers ordered an ebike and just as soon as i ordered they contacted me and said they didnt have stock yet loads showing on their listing. I had a better bike though so i wasnt bothered.
As an amazon seller ( currently taking a break for my music streams) they push you to pay for advertising and promotions with discounts offers ans such all the time. Its a pay to play system these days fella but you get seriously punished if you dont meet the deadlines to their account mush be very bad ranking and they are pushing promos just to get the extra traffic for items they dont have in stock or are relying on another supplier that cant fullfill orders .
The only way that address would be changed wold be by the seller and the seller has to physically imput the tracking number for them to write incorrect address when you mark it as dispatched the seller physically did that when they marked it as dispatched knowing that its not dispatched and wrote incorrect address for tracking number .
Hi mate. thank you very much for your comment. the decanter was modern Edinburgh Crystal decanter. it wasnt uranium or anything. royal mail sent it back even though they opened it and saw it was a simple glass decanter. but get this, i paid the extra to go with parcel force by Royal Mail and its gone, same company, just a different price. so there couldnt have been anything wrong with the item as its gone this time around. i have never sold through amazon, i can imagine they are a nightmare, if the seller had said i was too late in the offer and they had run out of product i would have just looked for another. but they are still advertising and selling them just at hundreds of pounds more. as you have said they are the only ones who could have put wrong address in the tracking info box, despite my address being right next to the box which was correct.
@@AntiquesArena Yeah thats odd with the decanter cant say ive ever had that issue before . And yes Amazon is the same as Ebay when you mark the item as dispatched you have to manually enter the tracking number , so they knew they was doing wrong typing in that tracking info, id pull them up on that if you talk to amazon again. Cant stand dishonest sellers give people like us a bad name .
I only buy new electronics from Costco here in the US. No questions asked 90 day return policy, extended warranty, great price bundles. And I have a local computer nerd who refurbishes and sells computers and laptops. Great prices and special upgrades on request. Hope you'll find a good new computer soon 🤞
Thank you for your comment. I haven’t bought a new computer for years. That’s why I thought I would upgrade for better films. I just want a laptop lol. It shouldn’t be this hard.
I enjoy your rant videos, your totally right
Thank you very much
I’ve seen it before when there has been a pricing error and then they cancel orders. If you are lucky to order and it ships before the error is noticed then the item arrives…… it seems that when an item sells too fast the systems pick it up and they look to see why and then the pricing error is noticed and order cancellation is triggered. This happens at most online retailers not just Amazon. However for their deals you have to be careful as the deal is often similar price to item has been a few weeks ago. If I’m waiting for a deal I use camel camel camel to verify previous selling prices when the deal comes up.
Hi Ian. Thank you very much for your comment. This was clearly cheaper than they want to let it go as they were more expensive second hand than this was brand new
I hope your week has improved.
Sounds like you're having a frustrating time to say the least at the moment Walter! Hopefully, you're making a few sales to make up for it? Mark.
Hi mark. Thank you for your comment mate. As they say when things go wrong it goes wrong lol. And yeah sales are good mate
@@AntiquesArena It's interesting Walter. I've been focusing for the last few weeks on my TH-cam channel, which is now monetized 😁. As a result, i've completely taken my eye off the ball with my Antiques Central website and so sales have totally crashed and burned! Just shows you how much time and effort we have to put in to this job to even stay afloat! M.
@@antiquescentral hope you can sort the sales out mate. Tbh I prob works double the hours of the average man
the seller has wasted so much of your time here... If you were a dishonest person you could by your amazon rights and perfectly legitimately waste thier time too by ordering goods and returning them ect - I dont think thats the right thing to do but they should be careful what gos around comes around.
thank you very much for your comment. tbh i am tamping with the seller. but even more angry with amazon for allowing it to go on, i spoke to them thursday and they said 48 hours for a refund. i phoned them yesterday and i have no idea what they did but it reset the 48 hour clock again ffs. so it will be monday before i get my money back now.
Walter I tried to send a Tilly light to Belgium and evri refused it never had a problem before with global shipping I will have a chat about it sat if your in hengoed
I should be there mate I would imagine it comes under the same rules as a lighter now. Anything that has ever had petrol etc in it can no longer be shipped
The powers that be who want to cancel cash say online buying is safer, that’s total bs.
Hi ray. Thank you for your comment. I totally agree mate atm I have no computer and they still have the money 8 days on
Do you think he'd get his money back if he paid a scammer in cash?
