Solid advice Walter, for me the detective work is the fun part, it’s not all about the value, many older items have a great story to tell…

If you are able one day, when you can, do a video on how to distinquish between bronze, speltre and brass that would be greatly and much appreciated. Many thanks👍

Appreciate the advice! I'll have to check out a local auction house that deals in high end pieces for possible valuation of my antique pair of English silver candlesticks.. thank you! 🥰

Hi Walter. Thanks for another great video. I was wondering if you could do a video n your setup for photographing the items you sell, as well as how you
go about doing it? It would be great for any beginner to learn.

Interesting about the auctioneers - I guess it depends on their experience/knowledge as well and some seem to have a very limited remit.

Hi thank you for your comment. As I said in my film. Don’t trust the answers. Just use the auctioneer advice as a direction to research yourself.

Searching completed on ebay rather than sold is also useful. Not only does it tell you what an item sold for, it also gives an indication as to what it hasn't sold for. If one has sold for £150 you might think it is worth that when you see only one sold. Yet if you search completed and see that one sold for £150 but loads haven’t sold at £100, you know the seller just got lucky and yours isn't really worth £150 after all.

Usually your videos are very good, sorry to say this one is a bit mumbo jumbo.
