once the foil rises lean forward to gain more speed and level off the foil . Then foil dynamics start and you must learn to balance that. Kind of like riding a bicycle freehand. Another tip: Do not keep pumping if the wind is not quite there. Feel for the wind , then go for it, if you do not foil stop and wait for a better gust to save energy
