Vivian was a beast . live in holland '83 still one of my favs th-cam.com/video/sz_91UMlm1Q/w-d-xo.html. Great solo th-cam.com/video/KmMPfKAIVVc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8H-0nvfWUZ3lb9Fn&t=2214
100% One of my absolute favorites back in the day! I only saw him once with Dio … but OMG!!!!! The guitar work on those three albums is just amazing and so memorable 🤘
George has been my all time favorite ever since I first heard him play in 1984 with the Tooth & Nail album. The tone he gets is above any other player out there I feel. I just love the growl he gets from his guitar.
Would love to hear a break down of his song called "Until I know (slight return)" off of the Shadowlife album. Dokken fans have mostly not liked this album but George's playing on this short instrumental is some of his best tone work. Another great song that not many know about is his song "Satan's Shorts" instrumental he did. These are 2 songs of his tone that I can't get out of my head!
@LicksOfTheBeast I love all their albums! Dysfunctional and Shadowlife are both great. They really show how good their song writing was back then! I just wish Shadowlife didn't get so much hate from a lot of their fans. I don't get it when the album is filled with some of their best writing and George's tone was just off the charts! My wife and I have seen Dokken/Lynch Mob over 18 times
This solo melted by 12 yr old brain back in the day. Love Lynch. "It's Not Love" into and main riffs are my all time loves...and the most 80s video ever created. Also, George's sliding finger tremolo technique is otherworldly.
Thank you for featuring George Lynch! Your explanations are top notch Nico. I first saw George when they opened for Aerosmith when Back For The Attack came out. I love his work on Under Lock and Key but for me BFTA is his best work with Heaven Sent, Prisoner and Mr Scary major faves. I watched him play Mr. Scary front row once with Lynch Mob and it was incredible to watch him up close. I think he won an award for In My Dreams . His tone and phrasing is outstanding. Very well done! 👏
I saw them on that tour too! Aerosmith was in bad shape on that tour unfortunately but Dokken was awesome!!!!! They were the main reason I went to that show!
Yes, he won Guitar Player for the Practicing Musician magazine (I think that was the one?) solo of the year award for In My Dreams. That solo was amazing! Plus they did a great job of videoing it for Mtv. That video really showed how fast his shredding was for this song!
AWESOME video, starting it with your new axe. I have always leaned to the early Dokken/Lynch guitar work. Cool that your pup came in and made an appearance. Very interesting at the 8:44 mark, you talk about Lynch's style and it is more difficult, and you nailed the slide notes. As always, love your break downs.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Miles makes an appearance quite often... We just don't include those scenes too often or people might think it's a staged gimmick 😂😂
GL has such fantastic and unique phrasing. Even as popular as he is, I think he’s underrated. Killer job, dude! Also, the solo in The Hunter would be a great lesson!
I see a pic of St Randy on the wall behind you. That man was truly awesome and would have loved to have been able to see what he would have accomplished if he was not taken at such a young age.
Thank you!! I have never considered the possibility of something like that, but who knows what the future brings? 😊 I really appreciate your encouragement. Thanks again!
I seen Dokken open for Judas Priest! Dokken was touring on Tooth and Nail and Priest was on Defenders of the Faith album. I was in Guitar Heaven that night my 15 year old self 😂! Tooth and Nail is still my Favorite Dokken album. Don Dokken was a mondo guitar player !! Please do into the fire if you ever get enough time! Awesome job bro as always
As a Mullet haired teen in 1988 I had an 8x10 Glossy on my bedroom wall of George in the leather jacket with the Fur collar holding his Mr. Scary guitar.... You KNOW the shot 🤟
Oh yes, Vito Bratta just made up the solo on wait on the spot as a warm up before he was going playing the real solo, however, the producer recorded it and it is What was stuck on the album.
I was never a huge fan of White Lion but of course I've always had huge respect for Vito's playing. What would be a good one to eventually break down and analyze on here? Wait? Little Fighter?
From your hint I was expecting some kind of Dokken meets Maiden surprise but just Dokken is great too. In My Dreams might be their BEST song and that solo is totally Top 3 Lynch-Dokken! Jon Levin also did great stuff on their albums.
It would be great if you could also cover some other, more underrated guitarists, like Rocky George from Suicidal Tendencies, a melodic shredder with a unique style and feel! Or Lars Johansson from Candlemass, whose style is also immediately recognizable and has offered so many fantastic solos! Cheers
Rocky George! Damn some of that guy's work is so cool... possessed to skate and the whole how will I laugh tomorrow album have some fantastic lead playing!
Well…. I already showed much appreciation on the original release of this wonderful bit of content so not much more to say here lol OK, I’ll say something since you twisted my arm 😂 Brilliant!!!!!
Actually, didn’t really rewatch this earlier and am watching it now and I see you’ve got a different guitar! Is that a new one? Looks great and sounds great and I’m sure the scale length probably makes those stretches a little more pleasant! Thanks for the explanation at the top of the video on the reshoot and now I will enjoy rewatching the rest of the original! Cheers!
Yup it's a new acquisition 😊 But it needs a new bridge as the saddles were cut too deep and the strings end up too close to the fretboard. You can hear in this solo, the tone is a bit choked like the strings are not vibrating freely.
@@LicksOfTheBeast - Just re-listened with earphones on and can hear what you’re talking about. I think that fiddle has some great potential though! Very cool.
I don't know about settings for different players because I mostly use the same settings for everything with some small tweaks here and there. But I'll definitely make a video about Neural plugins!
I'm no guitar player, but I've been listening to "in my dreams" for close to 40 years now, so why can I hear slight differences when it's played here?? He seems to slow it up in places. Almost like he loses the beat for a second- twice. Why can't he play it identically?
Mr Scary pinky can bench press 300pounds for breakfast that's why nobody comes close, maybe Paul Gilbert n his five finger index finger paws alright alright alright alright alright Lynch is truly one of the last true tone guitar hero left,, God damn lm old
Apparently, this channel is where people with great taste in music go to hang out.
Ok this needs to be on a t-shirt! 😃🤘
George Lynch is one of the most amazing shredders ever, absolutely Love him❤
I would love to see a video about Vivian Campbell’s guitar work on the early Dio albums
Dude his chops were legendary!

Him and Warren demartini and brilliant at that. Jake e lee was also in the mix. Makes sense as they all knew each other and or lived with each other

Love Linch's guitar works... And that Eclipse with EMG 😱💣

Randy was my first guitar hero and still a huge influence to this day! I have a few videos about him coming soon 🙂
Nico, props. You nailed it. Tone was perfect
Well done! George Lynch is a beast. One of my favorite guitarists ever. Maybe some day some Warren DeMartini and Andy LaRocque licks?
Andy licks would be awesome!
100% on Andy, definitely dig Warren also.
I do have a Warren video that will be uploaded within the next few weeks.
And Andy LaRoque is one I will look at for sure in the future!
@@LicksOfTheBeast Great! Can't wait to hear it :)
Man your tone fucking rules
It would be nice to do a review of this ESP.
You are correct Sir…there’s a big difference between dirty sloppy and just plain sloppy…well done🤘
Appreciate the research and explanation that went into this video. 👏
Thank you! I appreciate this comment a whole lot 🤜🤛
@@LicksOfTheBeast 👍💙
Excellent video
Have you thought about "Licks of the Beast On Tour"?
A couple of hours set showing off your Maiden/Dokken skills.
😊
Cool dog btw

I'm certainly not gonna argue with him! 🤪
Eddie, George and of course Vito Brata are the trifecta of "freestyle". Thanks for the upload!

Levin is good. I got to hang out with him and Mick and Don for a bit some years back, had a great time.
This is great!
George Lynch is in a leauge of his own, maybe together with Allan Holdsworth and Jeff Beck
Most important lesson for any 6 stringer - it’s all about what you solo over, otherwise you’re just noodling

Dokken is great but I think Lynch Mob is what Dokken would have become if they stayed together
Actually Lynch Mob was born because Don Dokken couldn't become this.
love you teach some neural setting for different gutar players you nailed it always with neural

The host answered your question before you even asked. He gave examples of how Lynch creates his own sounds. I believe I counted 4 .
Every Tab back in the day had tapping for that one section.
That doesn't surprise me... I always had the feeling that a lot of those older tab books were not transcribed by metal guitarists. 🤷🏻😅
What are you tuned to? Why no mention? Thought I was out of tune.
Can you do Mr.Scary next phase
I will definitely cover that one in some way in a future video!
