Good lesson for everyone on having fire extinguishers handy. Nice progress otherwise, doing the same swap and got my engine fitted into the car where I want it. Managed to get it further backwards and down a bit from your mounting locations with liberal application of the problem solver (angle grinder)
Right on! Definitely is possible to get the motor lower in the car, I just wanted to keep as much original metal as possible. Nothing quite like making something fit with a grinder lol.
@@misplacedgarage really awesome. I have a 74 too but it has the gt6 engine so it has a bit more power behind it but the miata engine would smoke it for sure
@@misplacedgarage well yes and no. They made about 100hp when brand new but its been 50 years since then and most of them would need a full rebuild. Also take into account what you're installing has fuel injection that adjusts on the fly with an o2 sensor rather than carbs, the list goes on.
Pedal was as it should be. Not entirely sure why it was pulled open, perhaps the fire shrank the throttle cable outer shell? I had to completely re adjust it.

Glad the fire damage was minimal
I had the same issue with my slave cylinder! I took one of the mounts off to get enough access..
Great video. Stay safe buddy!
Bloody hell mate you were lucky you didn't burn the place down. Must have been a spark from say starter. Glad you are OK.
Definitely could’ve been a lot worse that’s Forsure
First! Oh the lessons we learn! Stay safe!
Absolutely! You aswell!
whew. i think your theory would also be my theory as to how it started.
very exciting - getting there. is the transmission in?
The up all the components are pretty much in the car! Just need a driveshaft and a few other interior bits and pieces.

Really you think so? I heard the gt6 motors were pretty good.

@@chaseincats Also, ancient British technology vs. relatively modern Japanese.
Re: revving too high ... need a stronger throttle return spring? Pedal get caught under a floor mat?
