INFINITI TRANSMISSION GOING INTO LIMP MODE/SAFE MODE: PROBLEM SOLVED

  • This video deals with 1998-2004 INFINITI I30's/I35/s. In particular, when these cars go into limp mode/safe mode (when the car doesn't go out of 1st gear, OR, when you're driving and the tranny goes into neutral). If you can turn your car off then turn it back on and the problem goes away, this may be the fix you need!!! Either way, I had no check engine light on or any transmission codes.

    Best Infiniti ever, I had a Touring model. Car had 250k on the clock before I starting having problems. I miss the Bose sound system too.

      A lot of times transmission codes will not cause the engine light to illuminate. Have u checked your transmission fluid level?

    This will keep happening more and more often. Sounds 100% like bad tranny or slipping disks. Tell me did it ever happen again.

      Never happened again!! Love this Infinity . The car only had approximately 37k miles on it when I did the video. It now has 88k mikes. Guess I got lucky.

    I have a code for the transmission speed sensor. I ordered the part online from a random site, had my mechanic replace it and it still won’t shift past 1st gear. The mechanic also didn’t use oem tranny fluid so going from park to drive or reverse the transmission kicks hard af

    I have an 04 G35X with 209k now. When I first got it, it shifted kind of hard and felt like it was slipping a bit. It went into limp mode one time because the transmission got too hot. It also was 102 degrees out. I thought I destroyed the car, the awd light stayed on. I could smell something burning. It would stay in 1st for awhile before shifting. I turned it off and let it sit and everything was fine.
    I also cleaned the hell out of the engine, did a full tune up, added a plenum spacer, CAI, 5 point grounding kit along with the Big 3 mod. Adding the extra grounds helped alot. I added a ground from the transmission to the chassis, and from that point back to the engine block. I changed out about 8 qts of atf, changed the transfer case fluids as well as the front and rear diff. That along with the mods was a night and day difference. I got the car for a really great deal. Guess the guy thought it was eventually going to quit on him. I haven't had a single issue yet. It now shifts smooth as hell. If it's in full auto you can't even feel it shift if you're just cruising. Even when I actually get on it and I'm aggressively on the throttle driving it in triptronic mode. It doesn't have hard shifts anymore, you can feel it but it's also gripping much better. You can hear the tires chirping going from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd at wot. I also drive with the vdc off at all times. Being that it's awd it is a pain in the ass sometimes. Once it feels any slippage the front wheel will engage. You can literally feel the front wheels start pulling and gripping the road. It's a weird feeling, you're hauling ass in complete rwd. Then if you give it hard acceleration it'll kick in or if you start going over a bumpy road at high speeds it'll kick in. It really comes in handy though on corners. It helps pull the car through any corner at high speeds. I can only imagine how much better it's going to handle once I get all of the bushings replace and add a strut bar. It already feels planted, it'll feel like it's on rails in that case. Im extremely impressed with the quality of this car in particular. I've driven and owned cars that drove like complete shit, that literally started falling apart between 140-160k. Talking to you BMW M3, what an over rated over engineered pos. Also had a few domestics that did the same. Only a handful of cars I've owned that still drove great at high mileage. But none felt as good as the G35x I now have. I take extremely great care of every car I've owned. Always do all of my own work. I was hesitant at first purchasing this car at 185k. I've put over 20k miles on it and have only recently had the starter go out on me. Im pretty sure it's still the original transmission as well. So I don't try to shift it manually much often. Only when I occasionally feel like driving aggressively. Definitely can't afford for the tranny to fail on me now. That will likely be the first thing to go. Maintenance is key as with any car, but I can definitely see it starting to be common to see many G35s that will have well over 250k. In fact many of these modern japanese cars will last forever if taken care of. Im going to drive mine until the wheels fall off. Hopefully by then I'll have enough saved up for an Infiniti M56S. I think I'm going to stick with Infiniti's for quite some time. They definitely have me sold with the G35. I've always been biased with Nissan's though. Have owned many, my first car was a 90 300zxTT. Never had a Nissan let me down with catastrophic failure. Have had 3 cars completely call it quits with a blown head gasket. They barely ran hot and I've had this car run hit multiple times trying to bleed the dn air out the coolant system. It didn't even phase this engine. It's definitely an old car and it's outdated, fortunately it was well ahead of its time. So you still feel like you're driving a modern car.

    My car is having a similar problem when I drive and reaches the speed of 80, the car struggles to move to more than that speed and it Ends on speed of 80 while RPM goes up and a calm whinning noise can be heard, how can this problem be fixed?

    • @conquryourfear
      @conquryourfear  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like your overdrive is slipping. Hard to diagnose from my phone. But if it is slipping and not allowing your car to pass 80mph, that symptom may indicate heart surgery-meaning you may have to go into the transmission to deal with the root cause of slippage. Sorry I can’t be of any more help. Best of luck

      you have to take the driver side wheel off. right at the top of the wheel well opening you will see it, it's attached by one 10mm bolt. take that bolt off. it pops right out when you pull on it. unplug and there you go.... plug your new one in. tighten it down with that 10mm bolt. but your tire back on. the entire job should take 20 minutes.
