    That's it!
    Finally just picked up my microKORG, to go along with the mostly analog arsenal of other Korg's I own in my studio. One of my absolute favorite VA synths. Here's a patch I created (from scratch) and started to dance to once those synthy LFO's got pulsing! Only further processing was a little Lexicon reverb, everything else was solely microKORG.
    Entire video shot on an iPhone 5.

    HAHA! You have a Microkorg video too... rad! Microkorg was my first hardware synth and I still us it. Its actually a pretty capable machine, as you've clearly shown here. I use it a lot for mono lead stuff, but if you slap a big verb on it, the pads can sound beautiful too. I dig your patch!

      Thanks! Yeah, the Triton is a different kind of synthesizer all together, being a ROMpler. Has a lot of PCM samples to manipulate via menu diving, that's for sure. The simpler architecture of the MicroKORG can make for quicker patching, however. So you can get very creative, very quickly on the fly.

    @BoddhisattaHoja 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow, excelent! I was wondering about the live sound tweaking and modeling in a MK (for me, the best part of using a synth) and your video was a perfect answer. Do you know if the MK XL+ has the same capabilities?

    • @hvegel
      @hvegel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Boddhisatta XL sounds more "bright" and "plasticky" - imo. The MicroKORG had a more darker and subtle thing to it, that I prefer. Others feel differently. Can't beat the price of the MicroKORG mk1, however. Best of luck!

    • @gjc82071
      @gjc82071 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +LamuElectro I wouldn't say he Microkorg XL/XL+ sounds "bright" and "plasticky". (though it can sound bright if you want it to) Actually, it's capable of some really warm, rich, & intricate sounds. I really like the XL+'s USB port & editor/librarian software. It makes editing & loading patches, very simple. It also allows you to load the factory patches from the MS2000, MS2000B, MK XL, & MK. I have an MK & MK XL+, & I've loaded the MK patches on the MX XL+ & did a side by side comparison of the 2. A majority of the patches sound virtually identical. (though there are some subtle differences on some of patches) Bottom line, they both sound great.
      But I do think the MK has a slightly better build quality than the XL+. Neither synth can be described as being "rugged", but the MK feels more durable, especially the knobs & to a lesser extent, pitch/mod wheels.

    • @hvegel
      @hvegel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +gjc82071 I owned the R3, for years. Which has the same MMT engine. I guess the thing that made it sound "plasticky" - which in reality just felt brighter, was the filter. The filter is more VA sounding to me. I enjoyed the librarian though, and believe he Radias, R3, XL line of KORG synths has something to offer, it sounds closer to the Nord Lead line of VA. Which are also capable instruments just a bit on the bright side when the filter is wide open. My MicroKORG and KingKORG, are decidedly a little more subtle and organic type filters. More so in the case of the KingKORG. A very different and interesting beast.

    How would you compare the microkorg to the ms-20? I'm on the fence between which one I want for my first real synth. I like the vocoder, but I like the patching too. Heelllpp

    • @hvegel
      @hvegel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does polyphony matter to you? Does MIDI out midi to you? Two things the MS-20 doesn't offer. If you like to create dark pads and more 80s styled bass patches and fx, the MicroKORG may be your ticket. If you prefer more minimalism, knob-per-function kind of activity, 70s Sci-Fi kind of sound, then the MS-20 is your guy. Both very expressive and adequet. If you could acquire both, you would be all set!
