....I can smell the salty air from Atlantic...Mmmmm.Great❤️video. I love that the weather was changing all the time so you got a glimse of " their fog",glad it was not crowded on your trails...love your new top and yes... the pie. ...We've been there many times..The Kancamagus Hwy in a fall is a must..
Oh, my, so appreciate your video today, just gorgeous scenery. But most of all, that you and John have each other to share a common love of travel and beautiful memories. Those are the precious moments in life you will one day keep in your heart. My one day happened a few weeks ago, and tough as it is, I will still travel, will keep moving forward. Looking forward to your next adventure. 🙋🏼♀️❤️😎
I live in Maine, and appreciate the work you put into editing, voice overlay, graphics and music, resulting in this gorgeous and accurate reflection of Maine's coast (and NH's mountains). Thanks so much.
Love those old then and now photos. Hope you took one of you this trip. Have photo of oldest daughter at 11 mo. in my backpack carrier. We were standing in the doorway of Beaufort Castle, Luxembourg. A second with us in same doorway when the family (now 3 daughters) took a Euro trip and she was a H.S. Senior.
We were in Winter Harbor after we saw you. It is a lovely small town. We tried to take the ferry to Bar Harbor but it was raining too hard. The ferries were cancelled. Years ago we drove up Mount Washington and will never do it again! 80° F at the bottom and 30°F at the top and windy! They warned us to hold on tight to our 3 year old. Love watching these videos.
Here’s the backstory on the ferry. They only have one skipper. So when the weather is bad it is his excuse to take a day off. Otherwise he works 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whew.
GREAT video. Brought back memories of the Cog RR which I rode in '68 and again in '98. Steam only then, but a little soot is what adds character to the ride. I get to summit Mt Wash. again later today. I'm following 2 AT thru hikers who hiked up back on 7/22 and are scheduled to post their video later today. Jay Wanders Out is the YT channel name. BTW - you are correct. The other cog RR in the US is Pikes Peak.
Amazing, informative and incredible narration and editing! I look forward to seeing y'all every Friday. Stay safe and thanks for letting us tag along. Much love from SC, Jane ❤️ 🙏
I grew up in Gorham, NH and worked at the Mt. Washington Auto Road during the summers while in college. Always makes me smile to see others enjoying how beautiful our backyard is!
I had the same feeling when I visited Mount Rushmore that you did at the Mt Washington cog railway. My mom and grandmother visited Mount Rushmore in the ‘30s when it was still being constructed. They were on their way back to Pasadena from picking up their new Studebaker in South Bend and took pictures of it with incomplete heads and workers hanging out of eyes and noses. It felt like part of the continuum to get to go back in the ‘70s and see it completed.
Debra & John so happy to see you showcase our home state, Maine. Acadia Nat’l Park & Baa’Haa’Ba. Lucky the weather was clear for drive up Cadillac Mtn for those views. The footage you chose, paired with piano soundtrack very nice. Will have to get one of thos BB crumb pies soon😉
Mt. Washington wasn’t a Harvest Host when I was last there, wish it had been as we spent the day in the parking lot across the road. Glad you got into Arcadia as I was a 23’ truck camper at the time and no go per rangers. They lie about the bridges tho. I parked where those other RVs were. Days gone by and thanks for the memories!
Thank you for sharing. I grew up in NH and ME (summers). You visited all of my favorite hangouts. At Mt Washington, anyone who doesn’t want to pay $100 to ride up then the can hike to the top following Tuckerman’s Ravine. A 3.6 mile challenging hike to the top on the south side. The coast line of ME is my favorite. I road my bike on two different occasions to the top of Cadillac Mountain. The ride down hill is so steep and the speed so high I was not able to stop my bike until I reached the bottom. It was an exhilarating experience. Safe travels.
Another great video. We skipped New Hampshire on our way up to Canada because the Frank Lloyd Wright house in Manchester didn’t have any tour openings for a couple weeks out. Back in the 70s I hiked to the top of Mt. Washington while the rest of my family drove to the top and I hitched a ride down. Interesting to compare your and our Acadia experiences. We stayed 4 nights in 4 different campgrounds. Two national park (Seawall and Schoodic) and two private (Bass Harbor and Bar Harbor). Our Class C is 25 ft so we could not do the roads so we took the shuttle instead. On our way out we stayed at Sholom Vineyards Harvest Hosts that produces a delicious Mead. See you next week to find out how you entered Canada…
Was that a cassette toilet being towed by a bicycle? Too funny! Love the new sweater, I like zip up the front ones, I have one from Montana that I just love. I have a friend here in So. Cal. who travels to Maine every Fall...my goal for next year in the campervan but maybe a little earlier due to weather, don't want to chance rain/snow. Bought gas today for $5.49, it's gradually coming down. Loved today's episode, thanks for sharing!
So loved this video! I lived in the White Mountains of New Hampshire for 18 years, so you were in my backyard! One of my friends used to work on the cog railroad, and my daughter was a concierge at Mt. Washington Hotel. Spent some time camping in Bar Harbor... took a plane ride around the island, also kayaked around Porcupine Islands, which you showed in your video of Bar Harbor, just before you showed the "area for RVs to park...but not much room". They were the three islands in a row which resembled porcupines...Ha! I have many pleasant memories of my time and adventures all over New Hampshire and Maine! Happy travels!
Oh…Schoodic!!!!! My husband and I did a National Park volunteer job at the institute for 3 months and the lady you were speaking to while inside the main welcome center is the job I had. Such great memories!!!! In fact, Schoodic Woods campground was just completed the summer we were there so I was happy to hear you liked the facility. There are so many insider tips I could have shared. Hopefully you got some fresh lobster from the “lobster pound” in Winter Harbor. A very good friend of ours was stationed at Schoodic while in the Navy and the stories he shared were unbelievable. We covered all of Maine but that little town was our absolute favorite. Thanks for the memories.
What a beautiful video!! We have a house in Southwest Harbor Maine and just love it up there. Coming up in 9 days! Y’all come on down to Charleston SC for a visit.
So fun to watch this one! We are in NY heading to Maine & have two weeks to get to our destination - whoohoo! We were just talking about pie (we never eat it) and I said that we saw so many “pie” signs (lots in Minnesota?) and why do we never stop & get one? 😂
Beautiful video! You absolutely capture the feeling of being at Acadia! And Blueberry Pie while in Maine is a must but John needs to make it ala mode :o)
Loved Acadia and Schoodic! We were there June 22-23. Our PW Lexor was barely cleared for the Cadillac Mountain drive, after we left the bikes and rack at our campsite. At what point did you enter Canada? We went from Acadia to Lubec and crossed over for a day trip to visit the Campobello International park.
we went to Acadia 2021 in October on a Tuesday...who would be there...it was packed. The park is being loved to death. They need to limit the number of people who can drive in it. Perhaps have a lot outside the park where bikes are available to ride in the park. This would cut the traffic jams and crowding in the park.
Incredible scenery and fellowship. Thanks to you both for sharing your journey. Curious to know what type of work you both did before retirement? Thanks
Another great video of your travels…thanks for the tips. Loved the part with you and John sitting on the bench together looking out at the water. Safe travels. (Are you in the middle of the RAGBRAI ride? I keep looking at the temperatures and wondering where you are.)

I’ve been wondering about that and whether the authorities would accept it as such. Our bikes already have a button that disables the throttle. I guess I’ll have to do some research.

True.
You can unplug the cable from your throttle and that turns your ebike in to a class 1 bike.
