Your videos remind me of the show I loved to watch called Aerial America. They show aerial footage of every state and show cool architecture and landmarks. I really enjoy your channel! Thanks for sharing!
Love Portsmouth, these are the cities people need vacation to have a unique experience. Every big city starts to be the same but it’s the little places that really provide charm and a real sense of what the region is like. In New England you’re talking about Salem, Gloucester, Newburyport, Portsmouth kittery , ogunquit, kennebunkoort, Portland etc
As a NH native, I can assure you no one heats them year round. They are in a historical museum setting. They do tours except in the winter, and only open for a Christmas carol type thing. Strawberry Banke is very cool, but NH has SO much more to offer. Like things that aren't just for show. The river is pronounced Piss-cat-eh-qwa.
Too many to scroll but am glad i found this video…i love history and for the American to enjoy ‘historical town’ that’s been preserved for generations to appreciate, is really Amazing…Thank you for sharing some history of Portsmouth, all the way from Malaysia.
Hey Spoda!...I gotta say that this is a place I'd love to visit, before finding your channel I had no plans to see any of the eastern half of the states but when I see vids like this one I'm just so enthralled in the historical value of this place that I gotta visit sometime...thanks Spoda & God bless you brother...
👍A little gem of a place. Thanks, your dash-cam uploads are interesting.👍 BTW, I guess these were the houses of rich colonials, are there any dwellings or cottages of poor folk. And what about middling types??
Joey & Nichole, Its a Great Town to live in & tour. My Mom was stationed there during WWll at the Navy Base & Prison. She was the 1st Female P.A. in WWll. She Served at many Navy Bases during WWll. Dad was Chaplsin at New Hampshire University in Duram, I learned how to Snow Ski there & that 1st Winter was Minus-40'❄☃Degree's. Ouch. I've been in colder Climates since. You'al could spend a few days there just taking in & learning about the Historical Homes & Buildings. I can only imagine on your travels, it is not always easy to leave some States you go through & towns & cities. Well you can put them on your Bucket🪣🧾List for returns. always, Tommy🤠
I live in 100-year-old Home and I can honestly tell you it is less maintenance than the newer homes that I have lived in all homes are gonna need new HVAC and General repairs that’s just normal but my old house oh My God way less maintenance
You walked right by the most powerful public monument in Portsmouth at about 6:37 --- the African Burying Ground Memorial Park on Chestnut Street -- without a single comment! That was a serious omission. Portsmouth had a substantial population of enslaved people in the 18th century, whose endless work was a major part of the city's economy and social history. One hopes your viewers would find the Memorial sobering, inspiring and essential to an understanding of Portsmouth. Also compelling was the process by which the Memorial was researched, designed and built; it was a remarkable community-driven effort. (But you are correct --- Portsmouth is jammed in the summer, the parking enforcement is legendary, and a winter visit is to be recommended.)
@@BigGator5 Lets see, Tangley manor in Surrey , England was mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1066. And thats on a quick google. Want to go for best out of 1066 ? :)
I've heard you say a few times on other vids about how Europeans sometimes laugh at Americans when talking about history. Basically I reckon when they do laugh about it that they are history snobs. Speaking for the uk about when uk people laugh at Americans and say you have no history then I would argue that I rekon the usa possibly has more historical buildings than the uk but the uk obvs has some buildings which are before the usa was colonised but most of are 18th an 19th century buildings have been horribly knocked down. Especially in Liverpool which had multiple thousands of Georgian and victorian buildings which got pulled down for slum clearance when they could have easily been renovated and preserved. So I think the USA possibly has more victorian housing left and also a good number of quality victorian mansions left as well. Take no notice of are history snobs and be proud of what yas have.
When obamma was President he and his entourage contacted a small restaurant on Marcy St (that runs along part of Strawberry Bank) they welcomed obamma and his people. They promised to cover all their lost business for the day. Guess what those dirt bags did? If i`m not mistaken, the tab was 6000.00! They even shafted all the waitresses that waited on them! NO tips! The obamma loving owners were shocked and hurt that their dear leader could do such a thing after they promised to cover the owner`s lost business for the day for them having to close for the whole day to accommodate them stopping in. Obamma and his people just left without paying. The owners asked, What about our waitresses? They didnt care. They filed out and jumped in their SUVs and spend off. After countless attempts by the owners to collect their money and their staff that were shafted they were forced to go public and shame the dead beat obammers into paying the tab.
Thanks for doing this because I get to see places that would never get to see.
Nothing beats the charm of New England and the northeast !
I love old coastal New England towns. They have so much history and character.
Full of history and well preserved !
8:35 Marvelous! Thank you sir for the walk!

Thanks, Harrang. You just made my day! 😀
If you are out here again, try Newburyport MA. There is a lot of history and some real grand old homes
One of my favourite cities. Such a well kept secret. So much to see and do there. Ipswich MA is also amazing.
I agree.
I like this city.

Another nearby town thats worth checking out is Newburyport Mass.
New Hampshire is the best state
It’s pretty awesome but it has its downsides too such as all the tool roads
I'm watching this from the place were this town (and state) was named after, Portsmouth Hampshire in England.
Cool!
We have a big red English phone booth here in town that was a gift from your Portsmouth to our Portsmouth.
Lived on the seacoast of NH. for 15 years and worked in Portsmouth.
👍👍👍
There's just something about Saltbox Colonial homes that is really beautiful when they're all clustered together like that.
WOW big old houses in the day they lived in big homes back then didn't thay .
My son just bought a condo their on Fleet Street. Great night life. Terrific economy on the seacoast of NH comparitivly

Really nice photography! Do you mind my asking which camera you use? Thanks!
You should visit St. Augustine, Florida. It's older than Portsmouth.
We plan on it later this summer.
so its a "contest"?
Ed Wiles ...You know what, yes it is.
...Contest over, St. Augustine wins.
You want to go for best two out if three?

Strawberry Bank
I’m here now lol
1790 that is so old.............. England has just entered the chat :)
Those old homes will be drafty and cold in the winter unless they have blown in more insulation.

You can picture horseback riders and horse drawn carriages on those streets of Portsmouth 100 plus years ago.
The padlocks on the fence?
you get around
I cannot imagine what it takes to heat homes like that.............
Lots of Brits 🇬🇧 living there 😅
Almost like being in Europe.
Except you drive on the wrong side of the road :)
Not a terrible job pronouncing "Piscataqua" river, but it's more like "piss-cat-ah-kwah" just say it quickly.
