- Replacing the stock halogen fog lights on my C5 Corvette with LED. The stock fog lights are just OK at night. Corvettes didn't come with HID headlights until the C6 generation. These LEDs are a nice upgrade and help to modernize the lighting of the C5 Corvette. Since I changed my C5 Corvette DRL lights to LED, it made sense to ditch the yellow LED lights for white LED.

Thanks everybody for watching. Takes 5 mins to replace the foglights and it's a nice way to modernize the lights. I think switching to white was the right move. Yellow fog lights are no longer available. What do you think?

My man gave the neighborhood a lightshow & left the yellow light in till after dark just for this video...
I'm still subbed even though I drive an E82 now (almost got the vette but moved to Germany where gas is ridiculous).
I did all LEDs on the interior of my car, doing exterior next. They last forever, use less energy, dont burn hot, shine brighter etc...
LEDs are definitely the way to go. Look more modern. Lol I wanted to see the difference for myself, so figured I'd show it in the video. Shows you how easy it is since I replaced the one light in the dark 😂. There's a YT channel and I think the guy is in Germany with his black Z06.

Hi Dave, When you first installed the yellow fog lights I thought they were pretty cool. I ordered a set for my C5 which is the same color as yours. That being said I think you made the right choice going with the white with the new headlights which look awesome. I think I might be a copy cat again! lol
I'm doing all these changes because it's stuff I want to try. I really liked the yellow fogs, but i think the white looks better with the LED switchbacks and side marker light. Gonna miss the yellow fogs, but I think it was the right move. You can definitely try out anything I do, that's why I put the videos together so you can see it and decide if it's something you want. Not everything i do is for everybody and i get that. Thanks for the continued support 👍
Literally just swapped my DRLs Fogs and the other small bulb in the marker housings to LED. all white. And amber turn signal switchbacks in clear housings. . No hyperflash. Makes it look way way better. Plus the dogs are way brighter.Although. I need to adjust them.
Nice!! It's night and day with the new LED lighting compared to the lighting from 15+ years ago. It's a must upgrade in my opinion. Thanks for the comment and support as always.

The white look great. But I think on the yellow Vette, the yellow lights still look great as well. So I guess it's a win/win.
I did like the yellow fogs on the yellow. Just didn't look right once I switched out the DRL and side marker light. It was a good run but had to come to an end lol.
I've not been a fan of yellow lights unless its a big old fog light on an older European car, but liked both your yellow and white. However, I think it would depend on how much I used it. Everyday, I'd want the white. And if I was just using it for fog purposes, I'd be okay with either.
I agree with certain cars look good with yellow fogs. I originally did it just to be different and have a unique look. Did like it, but with the new lights I had to change them to white.
Nice! I have the led headlights and fogs, my fog lights aren’t as bright as yours so I may need to revisit..
That's the thing with LED lights, the technology is always getting better and there's always going to be a better light. I know my LED headlights aren't the best since they're about 4yo tech, but they're good enough lol.
Hey YellowVette ive been looking everywhere for how to remove and install fog light grilles for a z06 C5, do you have a video on how to do that? If so I would love to see that can find anywhere on how to do it.
I do not have a video on that. I'm not sure if there's one out there or not.
Hey Dave, first great videos, well done! Just wanted to ask if you were running stock exhaust on your 2004? Start-up caught my ear. If they’re after market could you tell me the brand? Looking to add a just little more beef to the stock exhaust on my 02. Thanks
At this point I had installed Texas Speed headers, Texas Speed Catted Xpipe and Billy Boat Bullets. It's a loud setup and it drones at certain RPMs, but it really didn't bother me much. After this video, I installed a cam and now the drone is even worse and I'm starting to think about replacing the Bullets with something else to eliminate the drone. Definitely the white is right. I do want better lights all around myself, nothing better than a drive before day break. Or after dark.
Agreed, those are the best times to go for a ride. Upgrading to LED is easy and there's a lot of options so you don't have to go super expensive unless you want to.
I have Daytona style lights not pop ups... so how do I do that?
I like the yellow ones but I can't run my parking lights without the headlights up, I don't know why

I think your vette wheels look a lot better original than black, I know that black wheels is the trend now but if they came black fine but if they came ,chrome or polished unless they came painted silver.Well that is my opinion.Keep your looking better it's the idea. Saludos from EL PASO,TX
I plastidipped them black a few months back, they're originally polished. I can always pull the dip off and the polished is underneath. The barrels were starting to deteriorate and looked bad so I wanted to give it a shot.
Can't decide if I want to put in the yellow or white. Just did the white LED for headlights but I have blue c5 and my daily is a subaru and I've always loved the blue with yellow fogs. Hmm
Luckily they're both cheap enough to try both and switch back and forth between both.
I have trouble getting my phone lights to turn down I can't run my parking lights with my lights down why?
Do those white bulbs you linked work for fogs...corner markers and headlights?
The linked bulbs are only for fogs. I have other videos for corner switchbacks and low beams if you are interested in replacing those a well.
@@YellowVette04 Thanks, just peeked, is there also one linked for the front corners? So far I just seen the fogs and headlight led's unless I overlooked something. Or they use same bulbs as the fogs?
This is the video for the front corner bulbs. I replaced the housing, but you don't have to replace the housing if you want to keep the stock one. Again links to the housing and bulbs are in the description. Sorry to keep sending you to other videos, but it's easier since I don't remember the links to each bulb. I would have left them yellow. Just my opinion.
I’ll send you an email with the parts needed to make the headlights go down without having to turn on your brights. Cheap and easy!

Rookie question: How do you turn only the fog lights on without turning headlights on?
Turn on running lights only with headlight switch and have fog lights on. Thanks for watching 👍
I have a question for you. I've replaced both lights but they don't turn on. I checked the fuse a d it appears to be good. The fog light button appears to work as you push it and the little orange light lights up. Any ideas what the cause could be?
Do the old original fog lights work? It sounds like they should be working with everything you've checked.

I'm wondering could you just use your new fog leds.. for might time driving instead of putting regular lights on.. or do the regular lights pop up automatically at night??
They do automatically come on depending on the year and options, but even that feature can be disabled. I have it disabled bc I don't want the lights going up and down too much since it wears on the headlight gears. The fog lights aren't bright enough to replace the low beams, so at night you do need to turn on the headlights.

im confused, the sizes on amazon are 881. Is that okay?
The link for the white bulb is correct. The 880 is the same for multiple bulb sizes. You'll see the different compatible sizes in the description on Amazon. The 881 is not correct. Sometimes the bulb options go in and out of stock on Amazon. The yellow fogs was a good link when I made the video, but they must be out of stock now. Something is not right, i got led and they do come down, also would love those yellow ones

He did claim them. The yellow looks good, I just decided to go a different route with lighting and wanted all white. I have a link in the description to the ones I bought, but I did buy them a few years ago so there may be better versions now.

Yes 880 and 899 are the same bulb type. That'll work for our fog lights
I would have just left the yellow I like it but it's your car do it however you want everyone has different tastes do what you think looks nice and not what everyone else tells you you should think looks nice

You get what you pay for. I've had good experience with this brand of LEDs before, so I used them again but I'm sure they're not the best.
Hey I love those tinted drl lights,! Any way if I send you a pair, I could pay you to tint them for me?
I wouldn't mind doing it if you lived close but by the time you pay to ship, you could order a roll of tint for $13. Check the description of this vid for the stuff I used and I did a previous video where I showed applying it. I'm also not that great at it lol, so I would feel bad taking any money. I would give it a shot on your own.

I think the fog lights are too far in recessed you can't see the road with them I'm trying to get him set out more but I only got one hand I need a neighbor
Did anyone ever get those yellow lights? Lol.
Now yellow fog lights only look good with certain colors. Like white, silver, graphite, champagne, pewter, and maybe black. Black is questionable at best.
I did ship them to the first person who said they wanted them in the comments.
Yellow light works better in fog/rain/snow/dust. And blue is the worst light color for everything
