Mine is a base model.2019. For mine the first thing was the auto stop at red lights. Well it shuts off when it wants to. Then during the day the rpm runs about 900 rpm it does race the engine. Then if you idle it. It will shut off. So for some that’s good some that’s bad. For me it was bad. If the dealer told me that I would not buy it. Lots of room yes. Looks great yes. Then I have a lot of metal noise inside the auto. Not the spare tire. It took them a total of 13 days to fix the problem. Every time I took it in. They say they fixed it. To find out it was never fixed. Now that noise is fixed and I have a lot of vibration going on. In the rear inside right side. Glad the metal noise is fixed. Then I just found out my my lift gate does not lock. Maybe I got a lemon. Then I found out on my own they just rigged the metal noise. And now I can’t slide my rear seat back. I have to slam it back. Then I noticed the seatbelt lates are not the ones that came with the auto. I can’t speak for others. But all together with my base model I’m paying close to 40 grand for all the insurance and crap they offer. It could just be my auto that is a lemon or it could be others. I will say this tread lightly when buying this auto I got mine from the avenues of Jacksonville Florida Cogin Chevy of the avenues

I bought a brand new Traverse in 2012. MSRP was $56 grand. It was a little overpriced, but still a great vehicle. Loaded right up with tons of power and all-wheel drive. Never any issues. I'll be keeping it for a few more years.

But all in all, this thing is fun to drive, smooth, quiet, and beautiful, inside and out! It actually feels like you’re driving a mid size sedan. I often forget I’m in a full size SUV. I mean this thing is the same length as a Tahoe, and has more cubic interior space than a Tahoe. But feels as nimble as a small to midsize sedan. Truly a remarkable vehicle by GM, and that’s saying something. But all in all, I don’t think I’d be this happy with any other current SUV on the market. Well maybe the Lincoln aviator.... but that’s a whole different beast lol
The Chevrolet Traverse is actually a full-sized SUV. The Chevy Tahoe is 204 inches long and is considered a full-size. The Chevy Traverse is 204 inches long too.
Indwell // Samurai There are differences though. The Traverse is a unibody and the Tahoe is a body on frame. Miesha McDade Did you end up buying one? I’m looking at the same 2 vehicles. The Traverse is bigger and more practical for families. It would be an easy decision for me if it wasn’t for the size of the Traverse
Nice review and thanks for calling out the differences with the competition. I appreciate the pros/cons you mention without it all being positive. I like the teen driver report, infotainment system, spacious cabin, exterior cams and phone charging spots. I think I would still opt for the Mazda CX-9, but this is not a bad 3 row SUV.
The CX-9 is really nice and drives great but it is REALLY small compared to this behemoth. It just depends on what you need. The Traverse (and Buick Enclave) have the best 3rd row in the segment by a long shot.
@@oambrosia The CX-9 is tiny in terms of interior space but it's nearly the same overall size as the Traverse. (199" vs 204"). The award for the least efficient interior packaging in the industry goes to the CX-9.

My objection to the CX-9 is that handling on backroads is less important in this class of SUV's than navigating suburban traffic and parking lots. And for those duties the size of the CX-9 (and the Traverse for that matter) is a handicap. But at least the Traverse compensates for that issue with a cavernous interior and excellent passenger space throughout the cabin. The CX-9 does not. Edit: Just read the C&D comparison. The Traverse is 90% the price of a Honda Pilot. I would stretch and invest in a Pilot - yes, invest because in 5 years you would have to pay someone to take your Traverse from you - not the same with a Pilot.
I liked the Bonus Bonus Points. How every my 17 Impala has the same touch screen interface as this 2019 Top Level Traverse. I thought Chevy Updated it’s infotainment look?
I just got the 2020 traverse AWD for almost $40K, Chevy is so cheap, beside all the safety options, the LS model has power Windows with auto down but not auto up, I just wonder how much did they save on that option? No manual lumbar support or power driver seat.
Looks good inside and out. They just have to extend warranty so it’s good for five years and 60,000 miles before it can be considered ahead of Toyota and Honda. Otherwise, stick with the Japanese.
It was ridiculous that she was pulling up to the cone/marker things and could clearly see them in the screen, but said no front sensors. Her eyes were the sensors. #SMH
If you need parking sensors then maybe the vehicle is too big for you. I see too many people driving trucks and suvs that are too big for them to handle.
Jason the interior is already way nicer with real leather and suede on the dash and all four doors. And for the 2020 model year the infotainment is the new version.
Pricing is out-to-lunch on these. Probably $10k-15k too high. The new Kia Telluride and Hyundai Pallisade offer better value, build quality and reliability for less money. I assume dealers offer steep discounts to move these.
I doubt either the Telluride or the Palisade will be significantly less expensive for a comparably equipped vehicle. KIA dealers routinely offer good discounts on most models but so do Chevy dealers. No question, though, that I'd rather have a Telluride if I were shopping.
@@normt5463 Probably a matter of taste. Of the Korean brands I prefer KIA's styling in most of their models including the Telluride vs the Palisade. (I own a Sorento). Hyundai's styling usually seems kinda "fussy" in my experience. Others will differ, of course.

You could even get an SS version with a Corvette power-plant. Say what you want about them but there are millions of them still on the road w/high miles and still running great. The new Blazer is nice if you want a Rav4 with a Camaro grill. No 4x4 , only AWD as an option. Same with this grocery getter. If this new design was body on frame and had a 4x4 drive train with a 4Low available with the Atlas 4200 Vortec I would purchase one right now. Loved it til it died at 170k miles) But it has the best blend of style, spaciousness, tech, and comfort. Waiting to drive the Telluride to make our final decision.
I feel the same with the atlas as far reliability . But not they do the 5 year 70k warranty i believe .. so thats a little comfort there
@@guillermoortiz1492 yes that warranty is a big plus.
Does anyone know the ground clearance for the Traverse? I can't find it anywhere?
8 inches
@@jasonlash544 thank you
Good video; great presentation.
The Traverse is 90% the price of a Honda Pilot. I would stretch and invest in a Pilot - yes, invest because in 5 years you would have to pay someone to take your Traverse from you - not the same with a Pilot.
:o is that south dakota?
Ive been there
I liked the Bonus Bonus Points. How every my 17 Impala has the same touch screen interface as this 2019 Top Level Traverse. I thought Chevy Updated it’s infotainment look?
is it better choice than Hyundai palisade?
Abul Shifat excellent question
They aren’t really selling are they?
It's the 17th best selling SUV in US. Up 20% in sales last year from the year before. Not that bad.

Mid trim reviews are needed.
I love me some Elana.....
I just got the 2020 traverse AWD for almost $40K, Chevy is so cheap, beside all the safety options, the LS model has power Windows with auto down but not auto up, I just wonder how much did they save on that option? No manual lumbar support or power driver seat.
5:45 "when you didnt studie for the exam, and get a bad grade"
No front sensors? What the what?
bfee20021 no sensors but it does have a front view camera you can use at slow speeds.
This vehicle is sharp..👍
Looks good inside and out. They just have to extend warranty so it’s good for five years and 60,000 miles before it can be considered ahead of Toyota and Honda. Otherwise, stick with the Japanese.
The Japanese do not offer a crossover at this size.
I don’t like the fact that the “other than black” interior is only available on the top trim level. I don’t do black.
Motor is good till 5 miles past the warenty then its 9800 to fix,and the extended warenty wont honor it,good luck.
Not sure why haters are mad, these cute gas savers are not sporty. I drive an altima and 27mpg isnt sporty it's convenient.
Your eyes are your forward parking sensors.
I like Elana's front airbags...
quietguy 😂
It was ridiculous that she was pulling up to the cone/marker things and could clearly see them in the screen, but said no front sensors. Her eyes were the sensors. #SMH
No, she's just testing out all the safety features so in case a parent had issues with the kids, the Traverse could give in a little bit of help.
@@kryogenicmx591 ok, thanks for clarifying, I thought otherwise, but now I understand. Makes perfect sense. My bad.... 🙄
@@cutt1293 its ok
the Infiniti QX80 is the best SUV you want luxury it has it, you want fun it has it, you want room it has it, you want storage it has it
nice so beautiful
She put a Miata and a corvette in the same category. She shouldn’t be doing car reviews just for that comment alone.
If you need parking sensors then maybe the vehicle is too big for you. I see too many people driving trucks and suvs that are too big for them to handle.
Love it!!!
Improve the interior and infotainment system and I’ll trade my Pilot in for the High Country.
Jason the interior is already way nicer with real leather and suede on the dash and all four doors. And for the 2020 model year the infotainment is the new version.
Is parking sensors at the front for blind drivers ? 😆
Did she just say, “Corvette or Miata?”
Pricing is out-to-lunch on these. Probably $10k-15k too high. The new Kia Telluride and Hyundai Pallisade offer better value, build quality and reliability for less money. I assume dealers offer steep discounts to move these.
J Fazzuoli except you have no way of knowing since the KIA and Hyundai haven’t hit public roads yet.
I doubt either the Telluride or the Palisade will be significantly less expensive for a comparably equipped vehicle. KIA dealers routinely offer good discounts on most models but so do Chevy dealers. No question, though, that I'd rather have a Telluride if I were shopping.
@@stephenhendricks103 we sat in the Palisade and it has the feeling of wanting to be nicer than it is.
@@normt5463 Probably a matter of taste. Of the Korean brands I prefer KIA's styling in most of their models including the Telluride vs the Palisade. (I own a Sorento). Hyundai's styling usually seems kinda "fussy" in my experience. Others will differ, of course.
Traverse build quality is very good. Telluride is no better. Reliability to be determined. A little too quick on the trigger with that comment.
Traverse review huh? The traverse is an ok car...yup
Did you really just put Miata and corvette in the same category? As the proud owner of a Miata, I say Nay!! Just kidding I’m looking at this vid cause I’m trading in my Stingray Corvette for a Traverse! 😭
kinda like a suv mini van
ANYBODY that requires a camera to park CANNOT drive...change my mind
This supposedly replaced the Trailblazer back in 2009. Bad move Chevy! The TB was a body on frame real 4x4 SUV. with lots of options and off road capabilities . So I'll keep my Trailblazer till it falls on it's face . By the way the "new" Trailblazer will be out next year . A total disappointment in my opinion. Just another Rav4 clone. No 4x4, only AWD. th-cam.com/video/omNJ5JUhsXo/w-d-xo.html
I buy cars by the seat of my pants. Like the way she talks about the seats. If a vehicle doesn't have comfortable seats I won't buy it. The short time spent during a test drive is not enough time to determine seat comfort. Just tell the salesperson you'll be sitting here for awhile.
It looks nice it does. But don’t buy it. I got mine a few months ago. It was making so much metal noise and they could not fix it. Do they rigged the seat. They have the auto for a total time of 14 days. Now that was fixed. To have more noise from it. And now the back lift gate won’t lock. Also the auto brake stop is a joke you can’t turn it off. And if it is idling it will shit off. The dealer won’t tell you that. I’ve have nothing but problems with this auto. And now it’s going back to the dealer for more work on it. Don’t buy this auto. It is a huge problem. At least mine is the worst 2019 traverse so far to date. The worst.
If you can’t park a car then you shouldn’t be driving!!! And seeing a non top model would be a better review
In real life this car is quite good looking. Chevy really nailed a nice design. Unfortunately, the reliability of Chevy in general will keep me away...
There is some transmission issues with it being rough but it is just the new 9-speed break-in process for fuel economy.
Before redesign Traverse was ranked tops in segment over Toyota Sequoia by Consumer Reports.
Not sure if this is relevant but our 2012 Equinox has been rock solid for reliability. I’ve changed the oil and wiper blades - that’s it.
@@PhillipsMikeC Not relevant. Why? If a car brand has a vehicle where 20% of them are crap, that still means 80% of them aren't. You have to look at the larger sample size. Toyota makes lemons too. Just far far less, as a percentage, than Chevy. Thus Toyota is considered more reliable...
@@PhillipsMikeC our 2015 Terrain 2.4l AWD went 45,000 miles on a lease and never had a problem.with it. We took it over the Rockies and back zinging the engine to 5,300 rpms and it never used oil or missed a beat!
Just another jacked up mini van without the sliding doors.
If a minivan interior got married to a suv exterior, I would think that is a good thing.
If a minivan interior got married to a suv exterior, I would think that is a good thing.
Turf Surf people don’t want minivans with sliding doors, so I feel like if this is what it takes to get them to buy it, all the more power to companies.
So it has more ground clearance, no sliding doors, more towing capacity, but its basically a minivan...... ok.....
This chick was basically hating on the vehicle throughout the entire review, lol!
how is speeding around turns fun? its irresponsible
After looking at other cars in this class the interior/dash of American cars is embarrassing..
I own a 2011. Complete garbage. I wouldn't risk a new one. My advice.. buy a Suburban.
Lol.. over 50k for this POS? Why buy this when you can just get a Palisade or Teluride for less?
Chevy loves to use that toothpaste-blue color for the gauge and dash lights. Yuck
If you need sensors to park a large vehicle, don't buy it.
If only that crap is more reliable
The nose knows
Women have ruined car reviews too I honestly given up on the idea of good reviews it's just like hearing over loud neighbor bitching all day my neighbor is women who lives with dogs and cats

Biggest in the segment and highest highway fuel economy and best handling. What more do you want from a large crossiver.
@@normt5463 it's a nice vehicle, but best handling? Nope. It's good, definitely not best.
@@michaels7984 the Traverse RS runs rings around the Explorer Sport in Motor Trend handling. Not bad for a large, mainstream crossover.
@@normt5463 ok it's better than the explorer. Cx9 handles better in mainstream. And if you are comparing by price could easily compare high country or premier to Acura mdx, which handles better.
@@michaels7984 Motor Trend handling tests of the CX-9 has it at 27.1s which is the same as MDX Aspec. The Traverse RS is much faster at a 26.7s. And that is with FWD putting the power down.
Considering the Traverse is much larger than the smaller Japanese crossovers it will be much more athletic to drive.
Car & Driver had the Traverse at 27 mpg at 75 mph on their 200-mile test.
