Incomparable stepdancer Stephanie Cadman dances five different styles to Bach's famous Gavotte, played by Lara St. John. www.stephaniecadman.com wwwlarastjohn.com Bach album: itunes.apple.com/us/album/bac...
I was reading Good Omens, and wondered what the heck a gavotte was, glad I looked it up cuz this video demonstrates it perfectly. Really shows how the dance is elegant and fun all at once.
Thank you for this! Came here looking to get a feeling for the Gavotte style of both music and dance as I am in the process of learning Bach's first Gavotte from his BWV995. I think I have a much better understanding now. Also, to hear the violin being played as a solo instrument is quite fascinating. I've always argued that it requires accompaniment. Guess my girlfriend wins this argument.
Amazingly well done! I'm a classical performer but I admit I've never actually seen these partitas and suites interpreted in a dance form. So captivating to see it done well!
This reminds me of the time I saw Jethro Tull in Pasadena '77. Wow, Tull were amazing that night. They started with Maud The Saucy Milkmaid and ended with a 40 minute gavotte.
I am here because this word is in the Carly Simon song "You're So Vain" and I didn't know what it meant ;D (You had one eye in the mirror as you watched yourself gavotte and all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner...;)
aziraphale be bustin it out in the club any other tuesday night

Catalina Rembuyan Why didn't I expect this comment
Yep
Oh my god, yes. I was just reading the book right now and looked up what this dance was like.
yep. Just seen Episode 4 and my god Martin Sheen dancing the gavotte is one of the funniest things ive seen in quite a while.
Lucian Corvin
Michael, not Martin
Bach would be smiling from heaven but Crowley said hell has all the great musical composers so :(
Hell has Aleister Crowley for sure
but it is certainly infinitely better to be in heaven with Jesus Christ, who is the source of all this creativity and musical talent of people ...
He's smiling from Hell. 🙃
Nah, Bach was very r e l i g i o u s. His cantatas are proof of them.
I mean Crowley said Hell has ALL the Bachs so at least there’s a party going on there...
People before May 2019: “You had one eye in the mirror/as you watched yourself gavotte”
People after May 2019: AZIRAPHALE! IS THAT YOU??
Stop it!!!! You're JUST TOO BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Amazing!
Bach is gladly smiling from heaven. What a pure joy.

It's like the drummer that goes with the guitar, the timing was perfect.
You're both so beautiful. And Carly sent me twenty years ago, but I'm kinda lazy - plus, this wasn't here yet :)
didn't Carly Simon say that Warren Beatty did this in You're So Vain? Not even close. This gal is awesome!
Brave!
