Thank you for this! Came here looking to get a feeling for the Gavotte style of both music and dance as I am in the process of learning Bach's first Gavotte from his BWV995. I think I have a much better understanding now. Also, to hear the violin being played as a solo instrument is quite fascinating. I've always argued that it requires accompaniment. Guess my girlfriend wins this argument.
