    Just an FYI, the two small holes behind the nose piece are where you can push a large paper clip or wire to depress the tabs to disassemble it without potentially braking those off.
    👍 Thanks for the video, I new this would be doable but you made it a quick deal.

  • @juliew8476
    @juliew8476 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    Thanks so much! I would just add that when reassembling, there's a tab on the side piece with the trigger that must go into a slot on the trigger to push a button inside. If you don't line it up properly, the system won't work (took me about 10 min to figure out why it wasn't working and walk back through all of the steps).
    Excellent hack! 🙂

    • @Garacha222
      @Garacha222 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't have trouble with that, but there was an elbow with 2 gaskets that got disoriented during disassembly. Once I figured it out, was easy to reseal the gasket fully, and fix the direction of the end of the elbow.
      I wasn't comfortable messing with the gluing part of the video. I just leave an empty pod in the top cover.

    • @Garacha222
      @Garacha222 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Kourig machine has been loaded with distilled water. I set it to the smallest cup size, & brew hot water. Next, I add 1/8 tsp sea salt along with about 1/16 tsp (or less) of baking soda.
      I then dilute with cool water before filling the Navage, so as to not burn plastics in the machine (nor my sinuses).
      and it works perfectly.
      That Kourig is strictly for that purpose.
      I no longer us kourig for coffee as I drink so much coffee that I decided to buy a cheap Mr Coffee (4-cup basket version) to suit my coffee needs.

    Yep, a small zip tie around that little button and some nail clippers to cut that tab and no more saline pods. Mine stopped working even with new pods so I had nothing to lose taking it apart and now it works great. Just be careful prying the two sides off, you could break it pretty easy if you just gorilla the thing.

    this is cool, but a simpler way is to used a crushed salt pod, rempve the foil and cut away all but the lid (defeats switch #1). as you start to close the lid, stick your pinky finger up to the inside top of the lid, push on the little release lever until you hear a simple "click" (defeats switch #2), pull pinkie out, finish closing the lid .. and the machine runs perfectly - no disassembly, modifications or glue required.

    There's no need to cut the tab off for the trigger block. The block itself will pull off of the shaft. If you look at it closely, it's only held on by two little nubs on the shaft. Just pull it off. The little tab you cut off also helps stabilize the button.

    Also NeilMed makes premixed packs. A lot cheaper than salt pods costing me about 15 cents per packet for a 50 count for $7.84 in my area. One premixed pack is good for 8 oz of water( roughly what navage holds) Add in a 78 cent gallon of water. You’re set for quite a while. Just mix in your navage as needed. Hope this helps someone.

    Guys this is so much easier. Put in a used salt pod, then as you're closing the Lid press on the upper switch with your finger; when the Lid is lowered enough it will recede into the lid with a click. Lid has to be lowered some what in order for switch to click in, but not that much. So unless you have really fat fingers it's easy to do. No disassembly required...

    Instead of using super glue, cut a short length of a paperclip of maybe a 1/4' long, hold it with needle nose pliers, heat it up red hot with a propane torch or a lighter, then plunge it into the plastic bar and through to the piece on the other side of it. Put maybe two pins in and those pins being melted into the bar will hold it in place preventing it from being pushed back up. You can also use glue as a backup.

    This guy made a mountain out of a molehill. Just leave a used salt pod in the chamber. When the lid is 3/4 closed, reach your index finger in and push the little tab inside the bottom of the lid. Very gentle press and you will hear a little click. Now you are ready to go.

    Great tip and video. I’d like also to suggest not to use glue on the second part. In my case I just used the aluminum cover sheet from one used pod and with some bending it got thick enough. I just inserted it in the place of that rubber piece. Working perfect. No mess.

    So, since you have superglue, couldn't you just glue the buttons down from the top, thus avoiding the disassembly process completely?

      It would be difficult to get both mechanisms to stay in place and I really didn’t want to use anything that could leach into my nasal rinse that I use twice a day every day. To each their own. Let me know if it works for you.

    Thank you that worked great but if i may suggest i got a better fix for the 2nd part (only cuz my super glue didn't work lol) . The small piece i cut off the inside i cut to size tofit the little button on the top and glued it right on top of it so when the lid closes it pushes down and it works just as good :-)

    • @downtownbrown6337
      @downtownbrown6337  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like it could work. I thought about gluing the top side but was concerned some smart chemistry person would say “hey you know that glue leaches ( insert a periodic chemical) right”. I used a 30 second fast super glue unlike the super glue I grew up with. Not sure this stuff should be used for quick wound stitches like the old. Glad it is working for you, that is the goal, stop using the silly salt pods. Thanks for the idea!

    • @drjuliogarcia
      @drjuliogarcia 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did almost the same as you. But instead I used the aluminum cover of an used pod and just made some bonded layers with it and inserted in that place.

    With this new found freedom you can easily use my allergists recipe: 8 0z warm distilled water, 1/2 tsp non-iodized salt, 1/4 tsp baby shampoo (johnson), pinch of baking soda. May we all be congestion free.

    • @DriveByReviews
      @DriveByReviews 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wandacollier7128 per the allergist it breaks down the microbial biofilm that is present with sinusitis. but I would think it's only needed if the typical saline type solution isn't clearing the sinus
