@@AaliyahCapili they're right, she is switching between harsh and clean in a totally insane way towards the end of the song, and she's a friend of Will Ramos who has been on stage with them :) they're a great band :) cheers once again :)
@@AaliyahCapili here's my little home movie from yesterday, Will Ramos is a BEAST live they killed it :) :) this old man enjoyed the hell out of himself :) hope you enjoy !! th-cam.com/video/PmOnEpSfI8o/w-d-xo.html
Loved this reaction, it's funny how her first scream always catches folks off-guard after having been soothed by her singing voice for about a minute haha. Happened to me too even though I knew I should be expecting it 😆 Your take on how she connects to her lyrics was rather insightful, I appreciated that. I want to recommend the singer Dorothy Martin. She sings in the rock band also called Dorothy, her voice is according to herself an amalgamation of all the greatest pop singers she's grown up hearing on the radio. Their new song 'Rest in Peace' has some damn strong lyrics, a solid rock performance by her band and an insane showcase of her full range and all that she can do with her voice. They're still growing in popularity, so I'm trying to do some fan-service and promote a singer/band who I'd hate to see miss their impact come after they've already retired.
Her one take of "Circle With Me" is also worth checking out as she sings it like she does live, which is different than the studio/album version (the whole you can do things in the studio you can't do live thing), there are a lot of people that like the live version better. Others that are maybe worth checking out are the "Blessed Be" [Live for SiriusXM], "Holy Roller" (either the one take or the music video), "Rotoscope" (good but different), and "Silk In The Strings" (visualizer/music track only). "Holy Roller" is kind of a rabbit hole, first Will Ramos covers it, then Will joins Spiritbox on stage to sing it, and the there is the whole Harper thing which shows that Courtney is a really nice and awesome person. So the Harper thing starts with a semi-viral video of a 9 year old girl singing along with her favorite band (Spiritbox Holy Roller and yes she does the screams), then you have Harper, now 10, sing Holy Roller on America's Got Talent (which does go viral), Courtney notices this invites Harper to meet the band, then Harper joins Spiritbox on stage and sings Holy Roller, then Harper releases a single via Pale Chord (the same Record Label as Spiritbox). This is one of those future of metal music moments. Now to suggest two things not Spiritbox: Devin Townsend "Kingdom" (performed for EMGtv), opera singers tend respond positively to it despite it being metal; and Power Metal Opera Battles #4 "Brindisi" Lords of the Trident (Fang VonWrathenstein) / Unleash The Archers (Brittney Slayes), Unleash the Archers is another rabbit hole.
@@AaliyahCapili since you're on a roll with these one take vocal playthrough reactions, here is a one take vocal performance of tatianna from jinjer if you have the time or interest!! this is different from anything you've heard from jinjer. its soooo good. enjoy!!! th-cam.com/video/Q5rg_63Shqg/w-d-xo.html
this songs so cool and the contrast in singing styles is so good, really good reaction, please react to another awesome metal band called Vintersea and their song Befallen.
You should totally check out Slaughter To Prevail - Demolisher! If you ever wondered what satan sounds like then the singer, Alex, can answer that for you
Spiritbox is a great band, from great singing so great screaming Courtney has an amazing vocal range, even the instruments flow together so smoothly every song feels perfect. Definitely recommend checking other songs. For more like this song I would recommend "The Beauty of Suffering" "Hurt You" and "Circle with me (Live one take)"
Hole in the Earth by The Deftones is worth a listen, surely an influence, even Prayer for Rain by The Cure, Robert Smith is to blame for so many breathy flows for the dreamy singers imo.
Great analysis, Aaliyah! Spiritbox has found some very interesting artistic space between progressive rock and x-core in which to build their sound. They bring a lot of variety as well. Courtney's screaming has, in my ears, more humanity and nuance than one expects. This is my favorite of theirs, but Circle With Me is close in my list. Here's a link to Courtney's one-take vocal: th-cam.com/video/zMnfkW9UZc4/w-d-xo.html
I love your reactions, please please please you have to react to Band Maid (don't google it, just blind reaction) . Let me recommend: Sense and Freedom (live)
My favorite Spiritbox song and one take performance is Circle With Me. Holy Roller is pure harsh vocals without cleans. Spiritbox - Circle With Me - Courtney LaPlante Live one take performance th-cam.com/video/zMnfkW9UZc4/w-d-xo.html Spiritbox - Holy Roller - Courtney LaPlante Live one take performance th-cam.com/video/fh6ResCBg3c/w-d-xo.html I would like to suggest another amazing band with an awesome vocalist. I like Avienne Low’s range from deep growls to a high scream. The SLAY AT HOME performance consists of the two songs Fiery Tongue and Befallen. VINTERSEA Full Performance from SLAY AT HOME th-cam.com/video/pAxs4XSk4ao/w-d-xo.html
Check out Circle with me as well great song to react to she has a one take of it as well. If you want to hear a song with more Screams and Growls do Holy Roller she had a one take of that as well but for that one do the music video first cause the video is just as good.
Everyone is unique and what I like about Courtney is that you can kind of hear a pitch or notes in her screams. The way her voice goes up and down is kind of different from how someone like Tatiana does her harsh vocals. You'll see a lot of people suggest newer songs but I still prefer their earlier stuff. It had more complexity and less of a "pop" sound. You should watch their video "The Mara Effect live at Silverside Sound" sometime to see Courtney doing some true magic. The rest of band nails it too. It's a long video though, another good one is her one take performance of The Beauty of Suffering.
The pauses in most of these metal videos… feel VERY conveniently timed… if you’ve seen the performance, just be honest and do your analysis. Don’t pretend to be surprised.
#1 rule of song reacting imo...when there is space, don't pause. Pause in the most hectic parts, but never when there is open space. You lose all momentum and feeling at that point. Just a suggestion. As a viewer this is something that keeps me from sticking with reactors. Those that don't pause in obvious spaces, I tend to stick with.
you should def react to her one take of Circle with me, She shows amazing vocal coverage and even has some grit in her harsh vocals.
Definitely need to do the circle with me on take.
Thanks so much, i will check it out too💕
