    Hi All - As announced in this video (bit.ly/3eduRGS) I’ve launched a Career Consulting / Life Chatting “Service” where I’m meeting people virtually for 30 minute sessions. I’m continuing to make videos and answering every question I can in the comments as always and live streaming every Wednesday at 10pm EST, but this is a good opportunity if you’re in need of individually catered advice. If you’re interested, please fill out this form forms.gle/LRdnvX7inZWYoBrj7 Looking forward to hearing from you!

    You have really informative information mate. I plan on getting into investment banking too. I understand that you went to target school, which is great. And it's awesome that you get to experience the lifestyle of what the work is like. I think it's really interesting.
    I currently work at the largest retail bank in Australia, and when I finish my degree in Finance in less than two years, hopefully I can make that transition.
    The two areas that I'm really interested in are DCM & M&A. Something about being a part of deals that are worth so much money, and literally assisting the economy in terms of expanding through deals and underwriting debt for interest.
    Cheers anyway,
    Hope you get plenty more subscribers!

    • @TheBryanJun

      I'm sure each bank is different and definitely more different for BB vs. boutiques - but overall make sure you're learning everyday, look at what senior analysts / good analysts are doing and try to imitate them. Ask questions in the beginning and try to not ask the same thing twice!

    Is this a position that involve a lot of unsolicited cold calling? Like you have to go out of your way and pretty much reach out to people and be like “sell your company”? For example, I work in retail banking and I hated outreaching to customers to generate a sale..is that something you do? Another example of what I’m asking using your tinder expression; would you have to go out and find “singles” and you have to sell them on why they should sign up?

      I think it'd be an overstatement to say everyone is working 100 hours every week
      I do think that being client facing as well as being accessible via smartphone / outlook practically 24/7, it can feel like you are working 90+ hours a week. I doubt that anyone in IB is working every single minute of those 90 hours thougth

      @@dbanddz you're fucked if you think this is a field you want to go into because it shows you've done very little research on the compensation/hours worked, opportunity costs and the toll on your mental and physical health. Investment banks are literally slaves being worked for a "nice name on the CV". Hedge funds is the way to go if that's the type of finance you're interested in.
      My question for you is this, if investment banking had no prestige and paid the same as any other job, is it what you'd do? If not, then don't consider doing it. Also you need to do a heavily quantitative degree to get into the financial world, something like stats, astrophysics or mathematics. But not business administration or finance.

    Hi Bryan I’m 17 and thinking about what degree to go into. I live in South Africa so I have 2 questions. 1) Do you think a degree in mathematics of finance instead of just a normal degree in finance is fine. 2) I want to leave the country and I believe this is the way I can. My father has quite strong contacts in the USA do you think through that and hard work I can get out the country and get into the USA? Thanks a lot!

    • @TheBryanJun
      @TheBryanJun  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure about the international process, but - 1) I think that sounds great, if anything having a math concentration over just finance might have you stand out from the rest of the crowd. 2) I'm not sure about how that process works, but I would make sure the banks that you're looking at do sponsor internationals.
