I laughed for like 15 seconds
My first finance internship interview was with an ex army guy in private equity. He grilled me bad and bragged how smart the current intern was I front of the two of us. Didn’t get the offer but I made sure I prepped for every interview after that moment. Promised myself afterwards I would never go into banking, now I’m going into research. Life is funny sometimes. 😂😂
any interview tips for beginners? Not sure where to begin tbh. I'm applying for back office/middle office roles in finance

Kind of a funny story. I use to work in transaction advisory (Quality of Earnings). During one of my first in person meetings on a sell side deal, I was asking one of the owners son’s (who was prob in his late 20’s early 30’s) if he was a shoe collector since he showed up in yeezys, thought it would be a good ice breaker since he was in on the meeting on behalf of his father. Not a good ice breaker at all. My team, and him and his team just looked at me confused and in awkward silence. He then proceeded to say, I buy them because I can and asked me to proceed with my questions list… lol

I just sold a property in Portland and I'm thinking to put the cash in stocks, I know everyone is saying its ripe enough, but Is this a good time to buy stocks? How long until a full recovery? Hey Bryan, any advice on how to be successful while applying to early IB-related experiences like the JP Morgan Early Advantage Program, especially when you do not have much experience in the financial field?
I think it's important to show interest - I also assume if they are a decent bank they recognize that someone who's 18 is not going to have professional financial experience
Get some solid Excel/Power Query/VBA and PowerPoint knowledge
you shoulda looked at your name tag also while saying "my name is bryan", instant respect

This reminds me of the story where I dropped an entire cup of coke between my thighs right in front of the partner…that was the first ever social event I attended as a full time
One of my first client interviews, the client, an uppity chap, offered a cup of tea. Nervous about the interview and uptight client, I knocked the cup of tea on to the guy's brand new forest green carpet. I then took my paper napkin and began rubbing which of course shredded the napkin on that brand new carpet.
I panicked, and mumbled something about cleaning it up. He too is panicked and yells, "Oh no leave it alone. I'll take care of it." Any wonder why I never did any business with that guy?

Idk if you mean ib analyst or if there's something that has operation specificity, IB analysts now make ~100k at base
@@TheBryanJun i meant the midle office. I saw im Goldman sachs investment banking divison, there is imvestment banking operations. I was curious as to what they couldn't find any info about it.
@@prcbbm3523 Ops is completely different from the IB division, you will mostly be assisting S&T desks in functions like Product control, Trade support, Trade validation, Confirmations drafting, Chasing, Matching etc etc.
The salaries are peanuts as compared to what FO makes, expect 40-50k

Someone in an interview wished me good luck for the next round and I said "good luck to you too." Luckily there were no long awkward moments because it was a virtual interview. I'm gonna have a ton of these awkward interactions soon when I start full time
