  • THE SONG OF NATURE: An Introduction to Perek Shira - with Rabbi Michael Skobac
ABOUT THIS LECTURE: Everything in creation has its own special song. This is the theme of a mysterious ancient work called Perek Shirah - The Chapter of Song. Some believe that Perek Shirah was composed by King David about three thousand years ago. Others believe it was composed by sages of the Talmud around the first century of the Common Era.
Perek Shirah lists 85 creations, including heavenly bodies, insects, fish, birds and animals. For each one, a verse from the Bible, usually the book of Psalms, is cited as its song. Numerous commentaries have been written seeking to explain the connection between each creation and its song. Perek Shirah is an extremely beloved text. It is printed in many prayer books and some have the practice of reciting it each day.

JEWS FOR JUDAISM is an outreach organization whose primary goal is to win back to Judaism those Jews who have been influenced by the following six threats to Jewish survival that are devastating the global Jewish community.
    1. Hebrew-Christian missionaries convert thousands of Jews worldwide every year
    2. Destructive cults cause many Jews to abandon family, friends and careers
    3. Eastern religions, Buddhism and Hinduism are spiritual choices for many Jews
    4. Apathy and ignorance leave many Jews unaware, unaffiliated and assimilated
    5. Intermarriage is exploding with a 75% rate in some North American cities
    6. Anti-Israel BDS on campus inhibits Jewish students from standing up for Israel and Judaism
To assist non-Jews who have left other religions, JEWS FOR JUDAISM also provides educational programs to help them embrace the Torah’s Seven Noachide Laws for Gentiles.
We achieve our goals through our worldwide Internet outreach, Social Media, free educational programs, educational literature and counseling services that connect Jewish people to the spiritual depth, beauty and wisdom of Judaism.
“I am so grateful to have discovered the wonderful Jews for Judaism TH-cam lectures by Rabbi Skobac. I am a Jew who converted to Christianity in college, but now, thanks to your online outreach, I have returned to Judaism. Thank you.” - Rebecca G.
In a nutshell, Jews for Judaism saves Jewish lives and keeps Jews Jewish.

As my Hebrew improved, I began with Perek Shira taking 45 mins, but now takes me 23 minutes.

Ohhh so the word US doesn't mean the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Who knew? The Jews, that's who. Thank you Rabbi Skobac. Enlightening as always. :o)

😂😂, This made me think the Rebbe might enjoy going out in the Atchafalaya Basin this time of year just after dark, in flooded woods. It is an entire symphony. The Okefenokee might be similiar. Maybe other places, I don't have reference too. Then early morning, I think of spring, where the birds have an orchestra that's very peaceful.
Which the English Bible says animals, fowl, the earth all hear God's voice. Humans, we must be hard headed.

4:15 haha! that is what happened to Balaam and his Donkey saying...“Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?”

A google search for Perek Shirah will reveal several English translations. It's also available online at www.sefaria.org/Perek_Shirah.2.6?lang=bi
