They fixed the syncing issues, but it's still not the highest quality. And I have heard a LOT of complaints about connectivity issues when not streaming at a set distance with consistent wifi. The User Group on Facebook is a great place to look prior to buying.
It seems that the video and the audio seems a little off :/(the lip sync is no good :3) . At the start of the video with your default camera, no problem. So it's something going on with the software when the mevo is up i think.
I recently shot a large live event using this camera. Has anyone had issues with the connection? I was using a mobile hotspot, so I had my own wifi signal and about 30 minutes into the event my MeVo dropped from my app and failed to reconnect. I had to hard restart the MeVo for my phone to connect. Which in turn killed my live feed and forced me to restart while in the middle of the event. Needless to say, this is an epic fail. I wont be using it again until this is resolved. Anyone experience something similar, or is it something I'm doing?
I know this is 2 years old, but in case anyone else reads this, the issue has not been fixed. It's unfortunate that so many reviewers are giving this camera a decent rating, because while it might work OK for a 10 minute review, the camera is unstable, the bluetooth connection is shit and it overheats constantly.
what you could do is use that rode mini mic for the iPad and then make it so the audio is coming from the iPad mic but instead it will be from the rode mic
Yeah. I noticed this, and it's noticeable in my Q&A video as well. I believe it's due to using an external mic and switching the mics around once I go live.

1. I do not think so. 2. I believe you can only stream to Facebook live and livestream. You'll have to check the MEVO site for updates to supported streaming services.

I have it plugged into a wall charger to charge the entire time. I'm not sure if it will be getting enough from a PC/MAC usb port to remain charged while live streaming. It may slow the decrease in battery life. I would recommend just connecting to a wall charger.
I did not have any issues with disconnecting during live streams. I did notice a throttle on the upload speed at around 3.5mbps though when my upstream is 10-15mbps. I connect the Mevo to my wifi network and then connect my phone to the same network. I 100% recommend joining the Mevo User Group on Facebook. There are a lot of active users there that help with troubleshooting.
I actually figured it out: the camera straight up rejects 2.4 networks, even if their routers are mere feet away in direct line of sight. 5ghz networks are a dream.
i've used this little camera last week, it's very simple to use. one thing is that you use your phone wifi connection to actually control the camera so to stream live you must use your phone mobile connectivity. is that correct?
Yes sure, i've used an iphone to watch a preview and switch between shots (wide/close). But to get this preview and actually control the camera you need to connect your device to the network this camera create ad a wifi named mevo-xxxxx. that said you can't use a home/office wifi network to live stream

thanks for the review here, with such a handson device I was concerned how easy it would be to use. I host a podcast and want to start doing facebook live and upload to youtube after. I'm worried that the audio export from my h6 mixer won't be great. It might be worth the payoff, cause the video quality looks super cool, as long as the room is well lit. Do you know if there are better quality trrs chords?
I just use a cheap startech adapter and run out of my Zoom U44 directly into my iPad now. You can hear the audio quality on any of the live streams posted on this channel. The only issue I've come across is the live meter is not 100% accurate and I was clipping for about 15 minutes of the latest stream, so definitely check to make sure you're not clipping by listening to the live stream on a separate device.
hi! I got the Mevo through a pre-order (i'm not sure if that matters) but my question is: when I connect the app to the Mevo, it requires me to have my Bluetooth on and connect to "Mevo" on WiFi. So when I livestream to facebook I have to use my LTE and sometimes the connection gets lost. You mentioned that I can use WiFi OR LTE to stream, how can I fix it? Thanks!

If I remember correctly it does have the option to capture the stream to an SD Card. However, it captures the live stream exactly. So if you buffer, it will capture that as well.

Too late, bought it today an it's on it's way, But also bought a Inogeni USB 3.0 4K HDMI Video Capture Card to try live streaming from the camcorder. Figured I would try out both and can always send back if one or the other doesn't work or is too difficult to manage. Thank you for the heads up, we'll give it a try for a few days and see what happens. The audio may be a problem for sure and I think you said there wasn't a way to add a mic to it. We have remote and wired mics for the camcorder, but nothing for an iphone or ipad. Yes. It was caused by a audio syncing issue with their app. I left it in because it was a serious issue. However, they released an update that fixed it.
I'm betting the camera's compatibility will be updated when more live streaming platforms are available. As far as facebook live, just keep watching as they push it to the forefront of the app. It's now an option right next to "post" on the top of the mobile app, and live videos are now an option on the bottom menu.

Still getting used to the interface and I’m a bit disappointed that with the cost of the device in order to simultaneously stream to multiple platforms one needs to buy an additional subscription plan, nevertheless I would say that this is probably one of the most advanced video streaming cameras on the market today!

Agreed. They've made updates to it which allow for better audio, but I haven't used this in probably 6 months so I'm not sure what it's like now.

When switching between microphones it introduces a lag, and also when using an external microphone there is a little bit of a lag.

It technically doesn't have any optical zoom. It has a 4k sensor and records 720p. When I show what zoom looks like, that's as close as it gets.
About the audio lag, is it because you switch during the live, if you begin your record with the external mic, no delay?
They released an updated app that fixes the lag when using an external mic.

I'm not fully sure I understand the question. I don't stream using 4g, I stream using wifi. Also, you can't stream without an iOS device.

You have a little delay between video and audio from USB. Why?
The Mevo mic audio and camera video is in sync, but the Mevo app records the internal mic slightly out of sync for whatever reason.
