    The bass and drums for this song were lifted from Led Zeppelin's song "Achilles' Last Stand" which appeared on their album Presence, released March 31st, 1976. Many guitar notes and the sound of the guitar were lifted from Achilles as well. Js

    You are right about lead singer Anne- although she belts it out on stage she is very reserved in interviews where her sister Nancy does most of the talking- but they were fierce- they wrote this song in one day after a creepy reporter asked if they were lesbian lovers knowing full well that they are biological sisters- so they turned the anger into a killer song calling him a barracuda and made millions off the song

    • @RMForbes505
      @RMForbes505 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      The reporter asked the question because it was a story being floated by one of their record label executives, the song is about the smooth taking marketing exec and not the reporter. They changed record labels because of this crap that guy did.

    Absolutely a fantastic Heart classic! The song was written about their producer at Vancouver's Mushroom Records when he let slip the false rumour that Ann and Nancy were also lovers, despite being sisters. They were so angry that they quit the Mushroom label and wrote this song about how awful the man was.
    Though the band was from Seattle, they called my Vancouver, Canada home for their early years and I saw them play many times - open concerts in the city parks, roller rinks, and even once for a high school dance. Hearing them live, and Ann's voice from 10 feet away, was an incredible experience. Heart's early style was a unique blend of Rock, R&B, and Gypsy/Roma Folk with a strong dose of Led Zeppelin. The softness in her voice that you're hearing is the Gypsy Folk coming through.
    I saw them play so many times that they began to recognise me in the crowd and often gave a smile of acknowledgement at my support. The last time I saw them was at an open air concert in the old football stadium. They were the last of several bands that August day and the sun had just gone down. There was a cool breeze coming off the Pacific and the lights on the mountains behind the stage served as a gorgeous backdrop. I was standing about the fourth row (no seats) in a crowd of over 30,000. Nancy saw me first and flashed me a smile, letting Ann know I was there. After her nod and smile, the band played and charmed us all for an hour. A few old favourites mixed with songs from their new album, Dog And Butterfly. It was, honestly, a magical night.
    I highly recommend checking out their early tracks. By the time the original band broke up, Ann and Nancy held the Heart name and delivered a strong number of 80s hits, but those never hold up for me as much as their first handful of albums.

    🤘❤🤘 Such a great song! That great electric guitar opening riff was written and played by Heart's co-founder and lead guitarist, Roger Fisher. Lead vocalist Ann Wilson wrote the lyrics to this song while Roger Fisher, drummer Michael Derosier and acoustic guitarist Nancy Wilson wrote the music. Ann's vocals, Roger's lead guitars and Michael's drums made this song so iconic.

This song- well singing in 6/8 time is a challenge right from rip.Anne also has air for days….that’s a vocalist,not a singer in a band. The guitar riff sounds like Jimmy Page on The Immigrant Song- killer singing, guitar work and master drumming

    You can certainly hear the Led Zeppelin influence. In an interview, Anne Wilson said they had been big fans of Led Zepelin for many years, and when they met, became fast friends. I guess that's why they picked "Heart" to induct them, into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
